This is a ranged DPS build, intended for R1 raids and R6(ish) questing on a toon with low to moderate investment. I suggest that you have at least +5 Dex, Con, Int tomes.. Like most builds, it would greatly benefit from having racial completionist, completionist, etc, but that is not the expectation. Onto the build.
Stat Spread (assumes +5 tomes)(Halfling) 36 pt build
10 Strength - helps with carrying things. Not used for anything else.
14 Dexterity - (need 19 for feats). Damage stat until level 7.
16 Constitution - HP is nice. Need 21 for Legendary Toughness.
18 Intelligence - primary stat. Damage, to-hit, reflex saves, trap skills.
10 Wisdom - Helps with will saves and spot
8 Charisma
Stat Spread (+5 Tomes, Gnome)
10 str 14 dex 16 con 20 int 8 wis 8 cha
Stat Spread (+5 tomes, Eladrin)
10 str 14 dex 16 con 18 int 12 ws 8 cha
Chaotic Alignment to get 2 imbue dice from Harbinger of Chaos.
Class Split
16 Artificer, 2 Fighter, 2 Barbarian
Artificer Blurb - I take artificer because this build uses repeaters. Battle Engineer is a really good tree for repeaters.
12 Artificer is required for Expanded Clip, which gives 33 doubleshot.
Fighter Blurb - Bonus feats, could drop 1 artificer for stalwart defender stance, or drop both to get the lv 18 core in BE.
Barbarian Blurb - Running fast is good. 2 Barbarian gives 3% DR which is roughly equivalent to, and stacks with, Stalwart Defender stance at no AP cost.
Race Choice
This isn’t important unless you’re missing tomes for feat stat prerequisites or have a bunch of racial AP to burn. I personally have a few racial AP to spend so I went with Eladrin for the displacement and doubleshot.
Quick notes on race:
Eladrin - Doubleshot, Displacement, To-hit bonuses
Elf - like Eladrin but just generally worse for repeater.
Halfling* / Gnome* - Dodge
Dwarf* - HP; can help with dodge if you decide to go in medium or heavy armor.
Warforged** - Frees up one bonus feat (construct essence), horrible dodge; Requires Mythril or Addy body feats. Racial repair amp make reconstruct self heal noticeably better. Highest Ranged Power, if you have the RAPs.
*Short races are better for Improved Precise Shot
**Tall races are worse for Improved Precise Shot
Special mention for gnomes and deep gnomes if you have a lot of racial ap, you can run a light repeater and take the critical enhancement from the racial tree, allowing you to take +20% hp in battle engineer. Note, Deep Gnome will need a +1 LR to fix the one wizard level. The Lamordia crafted repeaters or Undying Age light repeaters are reasonable choices for your weapon if slightly less powerful than Lash, so you don't lose much in DPS by doing this, at least compared to other builds that are Gnome based.
Levelling Order and Feats
Bonus Feat From Class, Granted Feat
Construct Essence lets you pick up Attached Weapon for .5W extra damage.
Improved Construct Essence and Quicken are there primarily to improve your self healing capabilities. Reconstruct can easily hit yourself for 1k+ on r1 making this build very self sufficient in raids.
Shot on the Run provides you with some ranged power and an (effective) to-hit bonus while kiting. It is a very good feat. The extra tumble charge and max dex bonus from mobility is just yummy extra.
Insightful Reflexes makes it much easier to get a high reflex save. As you don't have evasion until Shadowdancer grants it taking it late makes sense.
Epic Destiny Feats, Scion Feats
Epic and Legendary Feat Blurbs
Holy Strike and Watchful Eye are both decent feats in their own right but Shardi has extra benefits if you have these feats.
Expanded Clip is 33 Doubleshot when using a repeater. This is what puts repeaters over the top for dps.
Harbinger of Chaos is why you want to be chaotic.
Eerie Aim, Legendary Toughness, and Titan's Blood are all feats that are taken to make up for gear and past life deficiencies. You want to get above about 2k hp/200 prr in reaper, and the HP feats help a lot with that. Having less effective HP than that will result in you being one shot more often than is ideal.
You also want to have about 200 to hit mod on your weapon die for mid-high reaper Lamorida. Havijg less than this will result in you having more glancing blows and dropped crits from failed confirmations than is ideal.
The Level 31 Feat Slot has several choices, Legendary HP is what I would recommend (Legendary Aim and Protected Actions would be my other two choices).
The Level 33 Feat Slot also has several choices, Eerie Aim is what I would recommend (Overwhelming Critical would be my other choice).
The Level 34 Feat Slot, surprisingly, also has several choices. Titan’s Blood is what I would recommend (Legendary HP would be my other choice). See gear notes for further details.
Skill Notes (Listed in priority order)
(Needed)
Use Magic Device - 42 UMD to use Resurrection Scrolls. 10 or more ranks mandatory.
Tumble - 10 or more ranks to get the extra charge and improve how fast it makes you go.
Perform - 1 rank. This gives ~35 sonic spell power at cap with amps up a Fatesinger proc.
(Nice)
Trap Skills - Optional but recommended. Search, Disable Device, Open Lock, Spot(optional)
Endgame traps are about ~120 DC. LGS Int Skills swap helps a lot with this.
Spellpower - If using the BE imbue this is more damage.
Repair - More spell power for self healing.
Balance - Stand up faster after being knocked down. YMMV with how useful this is.

Enhancements
CORE
Battle Engineer -
A nice DPS tree for Artificers.
Vistani Knife Fighter -
The second core is Deflect Arrows, which is an extremely helpful defensive ability. On a ranged character it's far too good to pass up.
The third core is 5 doubleshot. All of the points used to get here are beneficial too, the AP is well spent here.
Harper -
Int Trance and Int to hit. It's an INT build, this is a given.
Inquisitive -
2nd core is 5 doubleshot, which is great. Shoot First is possibly the best AOE ranged attack in the game.
Flex -
Currently I like putting 21 points into VKF to pick up another 5 Doubleshot and 3 points into Renegade Master Maker to grab a little bit of Ramp.
Epic Destiny
CORE
Shiradi Blurb
This is basically the only ranged tree for repeaters. While the build doesn’t really care about the epic strike (pin is strictly inferior in almost every capacity to Pluck the String from Fatesinger), the rest of the Destiny is what this build wants.
Fatesinger Blurb
Pluck the String works wonderfully well with repeaters.
Shadowdancer Blurb
Look! More doubleshot! The build grabs everything that’s relevant to this build plus this allows us to sneak evasion into the build which is really nice. Immunity to neg levels and access to dimension door provide a lot of nice utility also.
General Build Notes
Attack Rotation
Pluck the String, Hunt’s End, Shoot First (aoe), Thunder-Shock Weapon (aoe), Shatter Defenses (aoe). These are in order of most to least single target damage and at cap. Without Endless Fullisade active rotating through these on CD should leave no time for autoattacks (barring lag or poor play).
The AOE attacks do not make use of IPS. When I am using IPS lines I typically don't use these attacks as they can cost damage. Caustic Shot enters the rotation then. Hitting Pluck the String, even while on cooldown, will cause you to make a normal attack so this can reasonably replace auto attack.
(Do note that sometimes behavior of the AOEs is buggy and they will proc extra hits or trigger along an IPS line. I do not know how to intentionally reproduce this, it might be lag / mob / mob facing related)
(IPS seems to work better than Archer’s Focus if the game is being laggy or you have a high latency connection. It seems that attacks are much less likely to fail to register while you are in this stance. YMMV.)
Gear Notes
An important note, this gearset is intended to be quickly and easily farmed to get the character online. There are better and more optimal pieces to slot in, but this gearset will be perfectly fine for farming those more optimal pieces. Alternative suggestions follow the primary suggestions (obviously prepend “Legendary” to the front of each of these, even where inappropriate).
Low Effort Gear
Weapons
Lash, a heavy repeating crossbow from DoV, is what I use. Any raid xbow with Legendary Affirmation (requires crafting) would work pretty much the same way. Leg Aff is mostly because it makes it way easier to quest - I don’t have to watch my HP much.
A Legendary Calamitous Repeating Heavy Crossbow would probably be the easiest to get and is BTA also. The new raid crossbows are not better than Lash, but they can be nice if you want to be silly as a gnome.
Needle, from CitW, is HUGE fun on this build during an ETR. worth getting one. It also isn’t bad for cap - I used it until I got a lash
Solar Augments:
Runearms
major thing is to have one and have it have Alchemical Acid proc.
Cloaks
Swap out for Spell Absorb when needed.
Artifacts
The raid artifacts are easier to get than the ones in quests currently.

Levelling Advice
Starting from level 1, I would put my first 13 points into Inquisitive. Shoot First is pretty incredible dps, think of it like Fireball (and it has a shorter cooldown than the Artificer version). I also recommend using a repeating crossbow to level. Here are some suggestions:

“QUESTIONS” FOR THE CREATOR
- Missing artificer bonus feat, level 8
- Why two barbarian? Could do the fighter split as 16/3/1 as just the “core”, same BAB even.
- 3% DR. BAB doesn’t matter much because Shardi gives full BAB in t5 now.
- Non-raid gearing would be nice as alternatives (i.e. the raid artifact), I like how pretty much everything comes from a single source, that’s super groovy.
- The problem is that the non-raid 5 filigree artifacts have very low drop rates. I have ransasked the quests that drop the ones that would work several times and haven’t pulled a single one. I ended up building around Rocard’s because I pulled it while trying to get Lash and everything on it is useful for the build.
