Lvl 20 tempest/assassin, now what?

So I was a very active player ages ago, left for a few years and have kind of come back on and off. I'm having trouble on deciding what to do with my 2nd character now that it's level 20. I've been trying to re-create a build I had ages ago that was great when MOTU was first released:

Aasimar Scourge (human years ago) 12 ranger, 6 rogue, 2 fighter

Feats:
Khopesh, power attack, Improved Sunder, Stunning Blow, Oversize twf, 2 weapon defense, dodge, mobility, improve crit slashing

Enhancements: ~40 points in tempest, ~15 in assassin and racial, a few in kensai. I haven't unlocked any universal trees yet, close on vistani and inquisitive.

I'm mostly using dreadnought destiny, with a little shadowdancer and unyielding sentinel just for the convenience of casting all resist energies at once.

Where I'm a bit lost is gearing. I'm still using a lot of the aasimar scourge starter gear. On the years ago build I used cannith challenge water khopeshes, and a bunch of MOTU gear that took ages to get (2.5 months at least to get the right version of Hide of the Goristro) but none of it seems good anymore compared the few (heroic) ravenloft pieces I've been able to get. So any suggestions on what I should be trying for? I have another char that has level 275 crafting, and I've made a few pieces for this char, should I just go all crafted gear for now?

I don't have the following packs:
Vecna Unleashed
Grip of the hidden hand
Isle of Drea
Hunter and hunted
Saltmarsh
Feywild

i would recommend using the Part of the Family set from Sharn: https://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Part_of_the_Family_set_items
then Borderlands has nice gear at 21: https://ddowiki.com/page/Update_44_named_items i would recommend using one of the rings and belts that have your main stat, so all sources of it are covered. i also personally like the con boots, as well as one of the trinkets that has insightful con. you can also get various ingots from Borderlands quests that you can turn in to buy weapons. theres 2 types, one for silver bypass, and one with ghost touch on them

Just to add, you could swap out Feat: Khopesh proficiency and take Knight’s Training, use the Oathblades. Make sure to get a sentient gem for free out of ravenloft and put it in a weapon you plan to use a lot.

OP, I am assuming you are looking for Cap32 gear? Or Epic leveling gear?

I recall a good Aasimar Dex TWF gear set that included Sharn Family set and U46 Lost Gatekeepers gear. Cant recall all specifics but I recall Bottle of Smoke trinket, the Bloodsigil Ring Artifact, Belt of Surestrikes, Ironclad Armbands, Spectre Boots, Dex/Dex Collective sight (which could go Str/Str if going LS/Khop). PM if you need more details, I can dust my archives off.
I used scimmies/rapier (Niteshard/Frac Ele and Flow Rapier)
Trance was Know the Angles in Harper tree.
Using that gear above and filtering out what content you don't own, I think you can fill in the rest. Keep in mind this is U46 (early 2020), so there are better stuff n' thangs these days.
It will probably do you good given the limited content availability.

+1 to going LS with Knights Training feat, more versatile than Khops.

Keep in mind you want to different sets of bonuses--Profane and artifact. You will get profane bonuses from Abishai, Ravenloft and Isle of Dread; artifact bonuses are much more common. Abishai set does not have profane doublestrike though so that really leaves melees with Ravenloft (adherent of the mists) or Isle of Dread.

I was looking for leveling gear, I'm just feeling really weak in lvl 20-21 quests and was kind of at a loss on how to fix it. Heroic "part of the family" does look like a good place to start. I haven't tried borderlands yet, I presume it would be tougher than king's forest which is where I was struggling. I guess it was overly ambitious to dive into elite right away, it's just been so tedious doing n/h/e for favor. I was overly excited to learn that I could open elite right away in epics. So maybe I'll try some borderlands on hard and see how that goes. I'm going to stick with khopeshes for now, at least until I can get my hands on a quality longsword or other weapon. I'm using Barovian khopesh + random gen khopesh for now.

Favor is my ultimate goal really, to get those packs that I don't own yet. I'm definitely wanting to TR at least once before I get serious about endgame raids.

If it is favor, and you cannot open elite, you may be better off either TRing (get that third life to unlock elite) or joining a group. Let them know you are new and they will usually help out.

You can get some decent borderlands weapons pretty fast (only one ingot) and there are even named items that drop in the wilderness chests.

Just get through into the mists (even on casual—first quest of ravenloft—after which you meet the guy who gives a weapon and a sentient gem away) if you have it and make sure to start building up a sentient gem. The xp needed on those is a long term project…

edit: you should consider different feats too; some of those are not so great. Do you have a tier 3 epic ring of stalker? For a ML20 piece, it still holds out. Epic Bracers of wind are still decent too for dodge and blurry. You can upgrade a gem of many facets and constantly reroll it for free for the right set bonus, then craft on it what you need. Very handy! for the two sets, Consider then maybe Raveneye (then add goggles) and perhaps the drow one out of Sands (vulkoor’s chosen) if you already are using Sharn for doublestrike and melee power.

Good point...as I mentioned...that layout is ooooold...and I think that was pre-RL gear changeout.
