30 years ago I paid $800 to go from 4MB of RAM to 12MB of RAM.

Do I blame F2P for that as well?
You missed my point. It is the expectation that F2P created. There are many that will complain even if they pay nothing for a game. The bottom line is you get what you pay for, and F2P has driven down what people pay so you get less.

Except there are some ways you get more too. I certainly never had a D&D video game growing up that had this many quests or this many classes and races.

I don't think we'd be discussing anything or have a product to discuss if this game hadn't gone F2P.

Id bet hardly anyone is F2P. Most would be Premium and buy all sorts of things all sorts of times.

apologies if someone has already asked/answered but since I didn't see any info in the FAQ I'm asking here...What is the timeframe for "pre-purchase"? obv before it drops but how much time before it drops (end of july, right?) are we being given for the "pre-purchase" opp? 3 days, a week, 3 weeks? It would be helpful for thick skulls like me if this info was posted :)

word on the street is that it's indeed last day of July

In terms of cost. Iirc I spent about £80 on MOTU which was what, about 12 years ago now??

Adjusting for inflation, the current cost of £103 doesn't seem too unreasonable to me now in that context.

So, for me, the cost element isn't an issue. The value element is where there is perhaps a bit of debate to be had IMO.

Ultimately though, that just comes down to personal perception on whether you think what is offered is good enough or not. Nobody is wrong or right here. Perfectly sound views on both sides of whether for you it's worth it or not. You can buy, or not, or wait 6 months to buy with points. All good. YMMV. ?

People spending money for Zigaretts, Alcohol , Amazon, Netflix, Disney, Paramount and so on every month and also for other stuff like Mobile Phone and so on.... But when its about a game, there are disussing about money.... If you don´t want to spend that amount, wait for the next sale but then you have to wait some more month.... Nothing is for free in life, even the death costs you your life :)

I rather buy two brand new games than pay $130 for 13 quests that will barelly give me 2 hours of gameplay...

I wonder if they realize how overpriced their stuff is. Not to mention paying for that when your currency is not american dolar...
While I agree that the ultimate bundles are overpriced, to be fair for 130$ you get more than just the 13 quests. You get these for a quarter of that price.

At this moment I can't buy this expansion.

Tried to pay with paypal, and the site here said after the payment process that I have already bought this expansion.
When I look it up, there is an order pending on Steam for it from today, but never finished.

Didn't order it on steam, but I ordered it on the ddo site with paypal....
The order wasn't recorded on my paypal as well

The reason I could never have ordered this on steam is: on MacOS the ddoclient doesn't even work anymore on steam since Apple went away from Intel, it still works on wine.

It looks buggy as hell at this moment.

@Cordovan In private I can give the ordernumber "on steam" when required.

Are there pictures of the hire, horse, and two cosmetic sets available somewhere?

Eladrin character appearance options are pretty good. Some options are very good. First new race I actually kinda like. Not finding a way to pick true reds on the sliders.

While not what I expected, carrion crawlers look pretty good.

New terrain shown in the video looks good. Makes me want to go there.

Not a fan of random magic including gag stuff and instant death. Killed my desire to visit the new area. May still purchase for other features.

Except for the wild magic, what I see looks genuinely good. Oh well.

Yes, https://www.ddo.com/myth-drannor?nav=true shows it as being available July 31, 2024, with some fine print showing that August 30, 2024 is the latest they can legally delay the non prerelease content (so the quests, wilderness area, public zones, ect...)

@Cordovan Just tried to purchase it, but got the following error:

"We’re sorry, your purchase cannot be completed. Possible reasons for this may be" "

  • You have previously purchased the item. This was my first attempt to purchase.
  • This purchase cannot be applied to your subscription(s). I've one one subscription.
  • Offer is no longer available for purchase at this time. It's just been released.
  • We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Complete shocker, never happens here.
  • We are currently performing maintenance. As of when?.

Are there technical issues, or is this another cheesy way of SSG's saying that I can't use a US based credit card while residing Germany?

You might try a VPN/proxy with a US location to see if that works.
I did.

Alright, finally got it to work. I ended up clearing all browser cookies, clearing out all previously known payment methods in DDO, while using a VPN. Gota say that this ghetto-discount payment provider SSG is using sucks ballz. Especially for those residing outside the United States.
