Map rework?

Hello everyone,

In my opinion the map is not very user friendly. The symbols a so small, I almost need a Magnifying glass to spot certain locations.
Although I can expand the map, the symbols remain tiny. The overlapping in some dungeons, making maps quite useless.
- Are there any other ways to improve the map's display?
- Are there any future changes planned by the developers, to make the maps more user-friendly?

You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you.
No answers to these questions, but I suggest you check out the maps (spoiler warning!) on DDO wiki. Folks have put a lot of time into making maps that are more useful than the usual in game map, especially in locations where there are overlapping layers.

Maps might fall under UI work, and currently there are no concrete plans to do such work, as far as I can tell from what’s been said publicly by SSG.

The Producer’s Letter is due in February, so maybe keep an eye out then to see if there is any mention of such work in that.

It would be nice to provide a basic map on release but allow third party developers to create and upload custom maps like most modern games. In theory I could download a map from the wiki which would have routes for optimal named farming, all named, and journal locations.

Upgrading the map system to allow player changes, among other things, would probably be high value work for the devs right now.

It brings DDO closer to D&D without likely creating a lot of system impact. It would require a local cache system to store the additions players made to maps.

It adds roleplaying elements that are currently missing from the games.

Wiki is your friend. I use a cheap 10" tablet with maps from wiki, or ones I made myself. BTW welcome to the game
