Melee THF TR gear lv10/11 and lv20/21?

Hi all,

I have been playing for a few caster lifes and I think I probably have sufficient resource to plan on a melee life.
THF Strength based, Cha secondary should be the quickest to level so I would like to work on a gear set around it. (20BBn, 15Pal5DL, and maybe rog&mnk&clr&fvs life that I am missing)

On my caster lifes lv10-20, I use ravenloft 3 pieces beacon + 2 pieces Elder + 2 pieces Shaman + Golden Greaves
lv21 - 29, I use 3 pieces Esoteric Initiate + eGOMF (Elder + Abishai) + Elder Cap + Abishai Cloak&Boot + 2 pieces Shaman

For packs, I just bought Fey so I have no gear from that now.
I don't have the 3 pieces set from ravenloft too.
I got the part of the family set.
Is it best to do Fey 5-14, Sharn 15-20, Epic 21-29 in this case?
What do you fill for Sharn 15-20 outside of the part of the family set?

For epic 21-29, I don't have saltmarch so I am trying to work out the gears.
Here are the 2 versions that I attempt:
Version 1: eVOM + part of the family + Abishai + eSOS (6slots)
Benefit around eVOM is I can slot +2 str and have set bonus with the 6 slot eSOS (assume Prowess*5 and +2 str).
The pair of +2 str give me +5&+5 Melee power right?
I am failing to fit +4 Ins Con around.

Version2: eGOMF + part of the family + Abishai + eSOS (6slots) + Epic Raven's Eye + Epic Vulkoor's Chosen
I can fit some crafting for eGOMF with +4 ins Con and have 2 more sets.

For both version I can fit things I am missing with augments.

Anyone got their experience gearing up the sets?

I think your putting a lot of thought into min maxing that probably will be done before you blink. Its fun to think about, but the effort should be worth the reward and I dont think worrying about twinking a leveling build 20 through lvl 28 is worth the mental effort.

I can usually do level 20-32 in about 6hrs of play. Combo of challenges, Slayers and some high netXP quests.

fpr 20-29 I wear 15 gear, at 21 use the ring-belt combo from borderlands of appropriate stat. ESoS for 2HF or the walking stick if monk, if caster the lvl20 from BL are usually quite good.

I dont usually care about gear too much other that for 20-28 other than the Epic elemental bloom or GS crit multi at 26.

I think if you have deathblock, ethereal (if Melee), Blindness/fear immunity, ability to cast shield or nightshield(clicky or wand) deathward clicky if you can get one, you will cruise.

I would say most of my time is levelling. Lv21-29 is for 2 ePL so i got more attention to it. Once I set them up, I will keep using them for multiple life. That’s why I am putting effort on it.

Death block and immunities can be done by tokens augments.
Shield/night shield are tricky as it means some specific items that I need. I don’t really need them after putting points in feydark now.

ethereal is hard.. for the pal life it can be covered by enhancement. I don’t see similar for bbn. I will probably need to get the fey bracer/ring. Then fit in epic spectral Gloves in my epic gear. In that case I can’t use the part of the family set and need to rethink the layout.

Or I should put the ruby of ghostbane in the eSOS…

What level XP and Slayer pots are you using? We usually take 10 to 12 hours with VIP and running 10% XP pots.

Are you using Sagas which have been saved up as well?

SoV 1 or 2 with Major Slayers... I get 5 sov 1s with every Hardcore season.



Fast way 20-32 (Nimvinds route) :

Dont turn in any heroic sagas. keep them all banked

Grim Disturbance rare in Kings forest (not counting how long it takes to find or how many resets).... 1 Hr usually, pop the XP pot prior to kill 7500
GO hand in all your Sagas... should get you to 22-23sh
Do the Evening star challenges & caves (5stars) at difficulty lvl 30. should be level 24 2hrs
Do LoD, Servant, Von3, Von4, OoB. 25-26sh 3.5 hrs
Orchard Slayers. 40sh minutes should get you 28sh 4.5
What Goes UP, Mirror Darkly, Inv to Dinner <--- first 2 need opener which I have on an alt account I built up completely F2P 5.5hrs

XP clean up if needed (Members only, Memoirs, other quick decent xp quests) depending on class choice, grouping success in slayers did ( 3 swf join or 4 sorcs), with my partners build we can sometimes have as much as 50 minutes left on the 6hr pot or run out an hour before we hit 30...

Perhaps I dont seem a new player asking all the set bonus and gearing.

Its more about the play style. A lot of people ran their pastlife quickly.
But I am doing a life for 2 months, staying for 2 epic pastlife.
It makes more sense to care about the gear more than he does.

I appreciate his input and keep this thread going.

As a newer player many moons ago if someone explained to me how to get from 20-32 in 6hrs, even if I could only do it every other life or even every third life (favor and monthly VIP giving me enough store points for the purchases of major slayers and Sov-II or 30% 6hr pots) I would have found it helpful.

A long time ago in the prior ED system, you had to gain a certain amount of XP while having a specific ED rather than choosing which ED past life feat you wanted, you used to be only able to progress by working your way through a map. Back then If you were new it made a lot of sense to do 2 EPLs per heroic/racial life. Depending on your playstyle im not sure that META at the moment. There were significant XP changes for some of the epic quests so the first time bonus schema kinda leans towards speeding through the EPL and getting back to 1.

Usually people who worry about min maxxing gear are also leaning to the type or person that wants to get xp efficiently as well. Thats what I was speakign to. You may be a unicorn flower sniffer that wants to be as powerful as possible in no real rush, I dont know lol.

All I am saying is if your advancement path is to gain PLs as efficiently as possible, After the XP bonus tomes, major slayers pots are the most efficient use of your store points for epic play. but you only get it the first go for that life.

Getting from lvl 20 to whatever you want at 29 is for me always a race that involves maybe 3-4 pieces of gear overall on any specific build. Until recently there was very little gear for low epics that was any better than sharn. Its good enough.
