Anything with a %chance of going off may or may not work, dosn't matter what it is.
After 20min hitting the dummy, the % of firing once is very high.
If Pt = 2% the chance to trigger
Pf = 98% the chance to not trigger
P(N) = the chance of observing the event once at round N
P(1) = Pt
P(2) = Pt + (1-Pf)Pt
P(N) = P(N-1) + (1-P(N-1))Pt
This is a sum that for a growing N P(N) ->1
This formula get simplified to:
P(N) = 1 - (1-Pt)^N
So in 50 attacks you should expect a ~63%, at 100 attacks ~86% and at 150 attacks ~95%.
Etc...
In simple words the event should proc.

It appears to be anything that is % chance based but from a particular point onwards on the Augment list. Trying the Disintegrate Ruby worked without issue for example. But Augments that use the Eye % trigger and onwards until the Disintegrate Ruby appears to have been altered.

The suspected theory (but yet to be proven - thanks RNG 😡 ) is that when Lynabel added that change (either by Auto-script action or by changing the item effet ID list for example) that changes Augment "Names" (to the "correct" one when stored) when it enters into inventory, it fell foul of something else that normally would direct the effects back to the correct listing which now instead only points to the right name, but not the item effect itself.

Which is why no one dares to remove their existing (old) functional Eye/Meteor Rubies because once out, because it flat out won't work again because it'll get altered to have its effects point to something else that doesn't have said effects to it. Suspect it's essentially the same as when we had singular items that had singular effects not work, whilst other versions found elsewhere did work.

I had a pair of Vulkoor's edges, both slotted with meteoric rubies (that I bought from AH a few years ago). They worked perfectly fine on my tempest toon, however after I extracted and slotted them into my Epic brigand's cutlasses they stopped working. 😢

Meteoric worked in my Sky Pirate Dagger, but not in my Elemental Bloom. Curious.
I just farmed a Sky Pirate's Dagger and put a (current, already been stacked into the Augment system storage) Meteoric Ruby and it doesn't work after 10 minutes of attacks.

If you extract your Meteoric from the Elemental Bloom and place it back into the Dagger, I'm 99% certain you'll find it won't work anymore there either.

Don't think it's just that. Both the weapons I tried had very old slots (from before the "new" colored text), and one worked while the other didn't.

I have 2 Attuned Shurikens slotted with this ruby, so it's new slots. One is wai-procced, other - never. Single difference: procced version was slotted much earlier than non-procced.

Cute, the players are theory debugging while devs don't even care letting said players know they aware of the problem affecting them in the first place.

SSG should release mod kits at this point so they can go full Bethesda and let players fix their crap.

But just keep buyin' dem whale packs along with some overpriced Jeweler's Tool Kits so you can admire your useless baubles and flummery sitting in a heap in your Shared Bank!

DDO can only spiral the drain for so long before Fate intervenes.

I doubt that SSG knows how to fix this, or they would have done so already. They should stop selling these on the store.

@Cordovan, in this thread we have started theorizing why eye rubies don't work.
While we all would expect to see a patch fixing this, we would even be "happy" to at least get some official acknowledge that the bug exists and that Devs are aware of it.

I never tried it out so I don't really know how to go there.
Based on Cordovan I think we should report the ruby bug there!
So if anyone, already has access there and can issue a bug report, it would be nice.

Bugs get (discovered and) reported every time Lamannia opens and, every time, those same bug make it into final version of the game. Doopalooza was reported on Lamannia, guess what devs did about it?

So a test I just performed involved the following:

Obtain a Eye of the Glacier via the Snow Event trade in.
Did NOT have auto-gather for any Augment bags I may have, this prevents it from going into a bag and getting cycled and potentially impacted by any name redirecting that was done for Augments.
Put it immediately into an empty socket weapon.
Began to hit the Cannon on an airship.
I have 2 hits every second.
I hit the Cannon for 10 minutes (600 seconds), so that's 1200 odd swings.

There was zero proc's.

This would suggest that the issue is most likely not even due to another system in play, but the Augment and/or the effect itself that is missing or not linked to the Augment at this point much like how some items having the Deception effect was the ONLY item with the Deception effect that was broken.

If it was the system that renames the Augment (entering into bag or bank), that should (in theory) have been bypassed here when I traded in for it and immediately slotted it in. (Unless if it's active when putting items into inventory direct via a trade in)

This would mean 100% that the DDO Store Eye Ruby Augments are definitely broken (lack of effects), so the Devs should (in theory, given its from the store) work on it soon (soon and not immediately because of Anninversary).
