Meteoric Star Ruby not working?

So a test I just performed involved the following:

Obtain a Eye of the Glacier via the Snow Event trade in.
Did NOT have auto-gather for any Augment bags I may have, this prevents it from going into a bag and getting cycled and potentially impacted by any name redirecting that was done for Augments.
Put it immediately into an empty socket weapon.
Began to hit the Cannon on an airship.
I have 2 hits every second.
I hit the Cannon for 10 minutes (600 seconds), so that's 1200 odd swings.

There was zero proc's.

This would suggest that the issue is most likely not even due to another system in play, but the Augment and/or the effect itself that is missing or not linked to the Augment at this point much like how some items having the Deception effect was the ONLY item with the Deception effect that was broken.

If it was the system that renames the Augment (entering into bag or bank), that should (in theory) have been bypassed here when I traded in for it and immediately slotted it in. (Unless if it's active when putting items into inventory direct via a trade in)

This would mean 100% that the DDO Store Eye Ruby Augments are definitely broken (lack of effects), so the Devs should (in theory, given its from the store) work on it soon (soon and not immediately because of Anninversary).

Metoric was my go-to augment for many years.
They have all be un-slotted and I ignore them now.
Sad.

Long live the LFM's - the truest sign of a healthy server!

I doubt that SSG knows how to fix this, or they would have done so already. They should stop selling these on the store.

Im sure there are a huge number of bugs thry know how to fix but they wont because they dont care.

Bugs rarely directly generate money and that is the only time they will act. If the bug was costing them money it would have been fixed years ago.

Several of my Meteoric Star Ruby's are working across several characters. I don't believe i have a malfunctioning one of those. I don't own the Eye of the Glacier to test with.

Since this got bumped, I still maintain the break happened when the minimum level bug was introduced. Though the devs were able to fix it for weapons, they didn't bother to look into the augments, which scale off minimum level.

According to some players, older copies of the Meteoric Star Ruby will proc, in my guess because they might have been old augment system rubies before the rework or they were slotted into items pre rework.

I'd be curious to know if someone unslotted one of the old working ones and slotted it into a newer item if they'd work, or if re-slotting them back into the old item would cause them to work again. But who wants to waste multiple toolkits on that.

I remember reading someone has recently unslotted theirs that was working, theorised it likely wouldn't work again if reslotted, but we never got an update to whether that was found to be true or not.

Thank you for saving me the time. Nice bill of goods, SSG. Offering stuff up that doesn't even work for an event. Stay classy!!

Same here. Just got an eye thru the snowpeaks event, slotted it into a legendary ferrocrystal handaxe, went for a run round IoD and did tar pits but zero procs.

SSG's silence on this is disappointing. Step up and tell us you are working on this, or take them out of the store and events and tell us you are not working on a fix. Please have some professionalism about the situation. I guess waiting 20 years for the ladder bug to never get fixed means we can wait for this to never be fixed as well lol.

So is there a new Eye of the Glacier or all they all broken?

If so, when will SSG STOP BREAKING THINGS?!

PS: THANK YOU J1NG FOR NOTICING and VERY ANGRY THIS IS WHAT IT TAKES.

Gonna have to throttle down my 4 VIP accounts as the silence on this is ********.

WHY DO THEY INSIST ON BREAKING THINGS?!

I actually did this not knowing they weren't working. It's how I found out they stopped working. So if you had it slotted and working before it will keep working. DON'T UNSLOT IT. It will break.

I am not entirely sure this is truly the case.

I have had various Ruby Eyes that have failed to proc (which originally came out in Update 21), but the Golem Heart - from "A Study in Sable" quest (Update 20) works.

Whilst the Golem Heart from Update 20 does work, that is a 2% to proc a specific effect. And of course, a Ruby of Disintegrate (which is also 2% to proc, but not written in description like the Golem Heart or the Ruby Eyes) also works without issues but also a specific effect (no ML check required for how much it does).

So a previously mentioned theory in this thread (and before, elsewhere) that the problem might be the ML of the Weapon, may actually hold true. Whilst the ML testing I performed previously didn't show it working, that was not a test on if the bug fix the Devs did a while back to restore ML to items worked or not, but to see if any weapon at various ML would help getting it working or not (to which it did not). And the theory that was proposed was that the augment migt need the (old) ML to check, so whilst items have the new ML - it doesn't have the old ML which it is expecting (it is old after all from Update 21) so it might be seeing it as null possibly and decides not to proc anything.

Will need to find a way to test that out later to eliminate that.

As I suspected.

Then it really boils down to:

1. Is it the ML restoration that caused the issue? (Whilst the effect looks for the older ML maybe?)

Or

2. Is it as I suspected and the Augment Renaming system is always active and the moment it spawns into the game, it gets renamed and the item points to one ID on a naming file that tells it what it is (for us in the bank and whenever we see it), but another file for the effects on them item possibly point to an effect list that wasn't updated to the right listing, therefore it points to an effect that does nothing instead of the Ruby Eye AOE effects?

On the other hand though, the opposite happened.

I have an old attuned bone longsword I had slotted with METEORIC STAR RUBY and it was working great and never suffered from any problem. I use it again and behold, the augment is gone but the effect remains. Yup, you got that that right, the augment bugged so bad it actually melded inside the weapon permanently granting its effect and disappearing from the slots.

Yes, I had no better augment than a meteoric and decided to slot in a dino weapon.
No, I haven't tried slotting something in both slots (only one) in case the meteoric was invisible (but I will today just for the heck of it).

Any augment that should scale with the ML of the item it was slotted in is broken as the augments themselves are now ML:0 and no longer scale with..., yikes.

I do see the odd 1 acid damage from an eye of acid torrent or whatever its name is.

There is no job position for ongoing bug fixes. And nobody cares as much as tonquin did to do tiny bugfixes in the odd moments. Because they wanted to make the game better.

Any bugfix has to be financially responsible or the bug just has to piss of some dev personally to bother fixing.

In other words, no one buys theses anymore, neither get them as reward. So practically it is just digital garbage that we hold in case the start function.
I would be fine if they even just acknowledge that there is a bug there. I should make a toon to hold the junk items 😅.

I got 2 lvl 7 Elemental Blooms, one has a Meteoric Star Ruby and the other a Eye of the Glacier. I have had both with the rubys slotted from before they redid TOEE and they don't work.
