The Knights Templar were a medieval religious military order, also known as "warrior monks," established during the Crusades, who were known for their military prowess, wealth, and eventual downfall.

Here's a more detailed look at the Knights Templar:
  • Monastic Order:
The Knights Templar were a religious order, with members taking vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, similar to other monastic orders.
  • Military Focus:
They were also a military order, tasked with protecting Christian pilgrims in the Holy Land and fighting against "infidels".

  • Papal Recognition:
The order received papal recognition at the Council of Troyes in 1129.

  • Elite Warriors:
The Templars were known as an elite fighting force, highly trained, well-equipped, and motivated.

  • Three Classes within the Order:
The order consisted of knights (who wore white robes), serving brothers (who wore black or brown robes), and chaplains (who were priests).
