my guild has been usurped and the new leader logs on once a month

<copied from my support ticket>
I took a break from the game in the summer of 2021 for a few months. Up until then, I had been the leader of the guild Staal Ysta on Orien for nearly a decade. When I came back, the leadership had been usurped by a character named Shedim.

Our play schedules rarely overlapped, so it took several weeks for me to get in touch, but eventually we talked very briefly. I asked if I could get the leadership back, and Shedim said they'd think about it, but did agree to give me the successor position. Since then, they logged less and less frequently, and it seemed that the few times we were on at the same time, they logged off almost immediately, and never responded directly to my /tells. The only time I got them to respond was when I messaged someone they were in party with to ask them to talk to me, and all they would say was that they didn't have time to talk, and logged shortly after.

I eventually changed the guild message of the day and started to send them mail asking to give me the leadership or at least talk to me. I even gave my discord contact if they preferred to communicate out of game. Those mails were returned unopened.

At this point Shedim seems to be logging on once a month. The last time they logged on I was online as well. They were on very briefly, and I didn't even get a chance to send them a /tell before they logged off.

I have no other way to get in touch with them. I don't know who their alts are, or even if they have any, or their forum or discord handles if they use them. I'd like to have my guild back, but it feels like they're just logging on often enough to prevent me from taking my guild back.

Is there any way you can help me get my guild back or get in contact with Shedim?

sadly, we players know that customer support will never ever get itself involved in this kind of stuff, even if it looks legit. even if it is legit.

i'm afraid you are on your own.

If the Leader resigns or quits the Guild, the Successor becomes Leader. If no Successor has been designated, any Officer can become Leader - first come, first served.

Also, if the Leader has been inactive for 60 days...

  • The designated Successor can become Guild Leader.
  • If there is no (active) Successor [Successor has been inactive for 60 days], any Officer can choose the "Usurp" option (see image, right) and become Guild Leader (as above). First come, first served.
  • If the previously inactive Leader or designated Successor returns at a later time, there is no recourse except normal social interaction (aka "asking nicely").

If there is neither any (active) Leader, Officers or designated Successor (so only "Members" are active), then there is no way for a Member to become Leader*, and so no way to add new members, promote officers, buy/change amenities, or otherwise "run" the Guild, so the Guild is likely doomed. Any responsible Leader should make sure they designate an (active!) Successor and/or Officer(s), for the sake of all members in their Guild, just in case of the unexpected - life happens.

* And, no, a game admin will not do so, not even if you "ask nicely".

Drop the guild move on and find new peeps
I probably will when my ticket inevitably says they can't do anything.

It just hurts when I've dedicated so much time to this guild and have personally earned about 60% of the renown at this point (about 47.8 million out of 80.8).

edit: already got this response.

My perspective is: a guild is not it's leader, a guild is it's members.

I know it sucks, especially if you have invested time and money into the guild, but it's sounding like you and this guild are no longer compatible.

I am the leader of a guild, but if the majority of it's members came forward and said they feel I am not a good leader and I do not represent the guild well, first I would be sad, then I'd see if there was something I could do to mend the rift, and if not, I would (with a heavy heart) step down and either seek out a guild with people I am compatible with or start a new guild. A guild (imo) should not be a place where you are surrounded by enemies/people you don't get along with.

Now, it seems they do not want to even talk with you. That makes things even harder, and you have my sympathies.
