oof.

I mean, good use for trash loot I guess, but dang! Missed every single crafting weekend? And I thought I ground crafting and deconned lots back in the day...

The decons reset on TRs, so he hasn't TRed that alt in years. Heh.

Under the current rules, I can push a character to 362 or 363 on a crafting boost weekend. After that, deconstruction is the only viable way to go because high end, unbound shards are very material intensive. (I have done that on two occasions, but throwing away dozens of Purified Eberon Dragonshard Fragments for modest crafting experience gains is painful.) If anyone knows a better way to earn crafting experience above 360, please let me know!

When maximum level increases to 34, we will gain two more minimum level shards. That will help. In the old days, it was possible to reach crafting level ~382 during a crafting boost weekend.

Perhaps Tonquin would consider putting Crafting Experience Books in chests. Reading one would bestow a fixed amount of crafting experience on the character. Make them unbound and you have something to trade on the auction house.

On the hand, all crafting levels above 340 or so are just victory laps. They do not actually matter, accept for the three people still making unbound shards a couple times a year.

*shrug*

Yeah, getting to 400 is a slog now, as far as I've been able to figure out, also. But as you say, the highest levels are fairly pointless anyway.

Maybe if you have 2 tabs of Cannith Essences you can get from 200-300's in a crafter bonus weekend.. and don't forget the stuff you'll need for insightful items.

It takes ~70k Cannith Essence to get from lv 1 crafting to lv 340+ on a 50% Crafting Bonus Weekend. You do have to use the 100% Crafting Bonus Potion (1-2) and the 35% Success Boosters (~100) from the DDO Store.
I have guided approximately 20 people to max out their personal crafting.
Edit: This leveling process only uses the Cannith Essence and no collectables at all. (Someone asked)

Clearly I missed the multitudes of 50% crafter bonus weekends... oh, and all those 35% boosters.

*Is it L320 that you can only gain XP from crafting Unbound shards?

I've been trying to get him to seek help, but I've failed...
I call it dedication. Your buddy knows the value of being able to fill a gap in that character gear matrix wabi-sabi with an item they can create.

I'm at 16k deconned and am 322.. I can see 30k+++ to hit 400.

you can make bound stuff up to lvl 18-20ish , with crafting lvl 180 or so ....not really sure I'd bother going much higher. I dont find the need for crafted stuff in epic... and legendary set stuff rocks like a rock star.

the sheer number of essences to pop a lot of xp's is near staggering.... most i've ever saved up was like 30k. Deconstructing 1 item at a time just sucks.

I did make a double strike belt for lvl 20 epic TR range. YaY! ...but, really whats the point;) even casually, 3-7 days later you're lvl32 again

Deconstructing one at a time is very tedious. Very, very tedious. And other stuff I can't post here.

I like cannith crafting for levelling stuff myself. I tend to use sharn set and craft what else I need. It's not 100% the best each time, but it means I mostly have one set for melees and one for casters, at levels 5, 15 and 24. It works for me, at least.

But yeah, rarely use the stuff for long anyway... oh, well.

Crafting unbound level shards can get you up to lv 351. it just takes triple Cannith Essence. The only reason to go above 351 is for the unbound shard crafting but I find it easier to get the other person to level their crafting since it is so much cheaper in the long run.

One of the best crafting items you can make is to take a Gem of Many Facets and craft it as a Skill Booster. That means the Ability that needs boosting for the specific skill, The Skill itself and the Insightful Skill. I have lv 15 ones for Bluff, Diplomacy and Intimidate. Specifically, I use them for Crucible. That means on any toon that doesn't have a buff in Charisma to start with I get +28 to the skill (+4 from 8 Ability, +16 Skill, +8 Insightful Skill). They are also BTA (Bound to Account) so easily swapable. I also have a more at cap, lv 32 (+7 Ability, +21 Skill, +10 Insightful Skill). I will have to decide whether to change that when cap rises up to lv 34.

384 here and gaining maybe a crafting level every couple of months from decons. I only play maybe 5-20 hours a week so it can take a long time to see the next level.

There is no way to help your friend, he is a lost cause.

Having 2 characters maxed fully on crafting yet working on a 3rd is sick :)

Only thing worthy of crafting at lower level IMHO is the Petrify Stones.. or arrows/bolts of (x), if that's your thing ;)

n I get the 'no point in going over 320' since DDO "fixed" the "bug" of putting bound shards on unbound items (because Unbound is WAY moar "expensive,") but.. fomo.. :p

*why no XP at/for Trapsmith station?
