My Leveling Path

I have leveled a lot, and I have developed a leveling path that anyone (with all the content) can do. thanks to @noddy for help and inspiration

This is the leveling path I stick to (most of the time) for my TRs. additional quests will be noted, but I do not always run those. These quests are all meant to be run on r1 unless otherwise noted. This leveling is with 20% pots from Eberron shards, masters gift from lvl 1, vip boost, and no weekend bonuses.

Looks somewhat divergent from my typical Leveling Path.
  • I assume my leveling path starts at level 2. I don't expect to always have enough EXP stones on hand to start higher.
  • I front load Three-Barrel Cove and Splinterskull into levels 4 and 5, where as you have much more Harbor and Marketplace questing done.
  • I front load Shadow Crypt at level 6 to burst through that level and get to Feywild. I make up for this later with doing Sorrowdusk in the level 10 & 11 timeframe (which has very good Favor per minute).
  • I don't touch Reaper Difficulty until level 6.
  • I do the older Sands and Droaam quests instead of the newer Myth Drannor (as I don't have it).
  • I use Orchard Necro quests instead of Archon quests.
  • I obtain Sagas as they complete instead of at the end, so I finish off the last heroic levels with Vecna, or a mix of Amrath/Vale of Twilight/Reaver's Refuge/Soulsplitter quests.
  • I use Cannith Challenge 5% EXP potions which can last a full heroic/epic life from a single Colossal Crystals run (or Kobold Chaos run if you can pull that one off) instead of higher-end Eberron Shard based EXP potions.
  • My leveling path does assume usage of 13 Astral Shards. They aren't pivotal, but do reduce the time to level by about 30-40 minutes.
<In regards to the March 29th 2025 update>
  • If the goal is to do fast leveling, I still advocate Three Barrel Cove at levels 4 & 5 over the alternative of quests like Smugger, Butcher's Path, Lost Tome, Shan-to-Kor, and Swiped Signet.
  • Glad to see Night Brigade and Explosive Situation make it into the earlier levels, as they are solid recent additions.
  • If you are doing Catastrophe, it is likely worth adding Bookbinder Rescue given it is very quick and close by.
  • There seems to be a typo around item #19 and item #20 <Isle of Dread Saga> where it says take level 9, then after you complete Stone Crypt Chronicles, take level 9 again.
  • Desert Caravan can easily be replaced Maraud the Mines (same EXP factoring in Explorers, but about 5 minutes faster), unless Desert Caravan is a favorite to play.
  • If you do not plan on doing the raid Defiler of the Just, then substituting out the Trials of the Archon quests with the Deception in Stormreach (Frame Work, Diplomatic Impunity, Eyes of Stone) would make for a faster substitution.
  • Ghosts of Perdition is easily a better substitute for Multitude of Menace.
  • I think taking the Feywild and Isle of Dread Sagas as they are available is more effective than the current level guide has them (done at the end). Taking those 2 Sagas at-level allows you to remove a few lower quests (such as Tear of Dhakkan, Gwylan's Stand, and Stromvauld's Mine) and instead do Reach for the Sky as your last quest to make up the difference. Would save about 15 minutes in quest time and probably 1 or 2 minutes and travel time to get to the Saga NPCs.

If it works for you- sure continue to use it. It most definitely can be optimized though, mainly seeing that SC at level 6. As well as bouncing back and forth between 3bc and other areas.

I think Shadow Crypt at level 6 (earliest that it can be done) is actually optimal. To compare, the pre-Feywild quests in Chris' guide that I avoid:
  • Borderlands
  • Harbor Extras - Bringing in the Light, Lost Tome, Butcher's Path
  • Market Extras - Shan-to-Kor, Catastrophe, Swiped Signet
  • Three Barrel Cove Extras - Brood of Flame, a repeat of The Stones Run Red
On the other hand mine does instead:
  • Tangleroot
  • Shadow Crypt on Normal and Hard
Chris' pre-Feywild quests take about 80 minutes (including travel time) while mine take about 35 minutes (including travel time) for a comparable amount of EXP. I pay for it later by running Sorrowdusk which takes about another 35 minutes total. I could alternatively run Temple of Elemental Evil part 1 and 2 over 16 minutes to shore up the deficit in EXP. End result is I save 10 minutes and get 51 more Favor (Sorrowdusk path) or save 29 minutes at a loss of 33 total Favor (ToEE path). I think early Shadow Crypt is more optimal to bypass the overall lower EXP gained from the lower leveled quests than people realize.

The logic of front-loading EXP where possible from sagas (primarily the sagas from Feywild, Thunder Sea, Isle of Dread, Ravenloft) is also worth doing as soon as possible instead of backloading it given that it propels you faster into the level 9-15 quest range where EXP comes in the quickest and your character power tends to become well formed. It also tends to reduce travel time because you are likely already close to the Saga Reward person after finishing the saga's quests.
