Myth Drannor Drop Rates

First off, I want to say that I've really enjoyed the Myth Drannor expansion. The environment is stunning, the cosmetics are fantastic, and the new augment system shows a lot of promise. Most of the quests have been fun, and I appreciate the effort by the developers to put together an overall enjoyable experience.

That said, I have some concerns about the drop rates for rare loot. On elite difficulty, there's a 33% chance to get named loot, followed by a small chance to roll into the rare loot table. However, there are simply too many items in the rare loot table: Golden Age Weapons, Crownblade, Artblade, and Warblade sets, Golden Age shields, and rare augments.

I understand the design philosophy for some items to be incredibly rare—chasing after rare stuff can be exciting (especially if its cosmetics, and I'm one of the rare few that look cool). The Crownblade, Artblade, and Warblade sets, in particular, would make for great rare items that are fun to chase. However, the rest of the items in the rare loot table don’t need to be this difficult to obtain.

To make matters worse, the drop rates from Wilderness raid bosses are extremely low. With only a 10% chance to drop named loot and then another small chance to hit the rare loot table and then another chance to get the item you want, it feels pointless and cruel.

This level of difficulty in acquiring this much rare loot is too much. The fun I had originally is beginning to feel more like apathy. Please, at least consider making all augments from the wilderness raid bosses a regular drop.
My guildies and I have been mindlessly randsacking the Dragon and Worm. The drop rates are awful. Even when people in group use elixirs or reroll, it just feels like a waste to try.

after another ttempt at MD wilderness rare farm I gotta say loot in general feels...low end.
half the chests have no minor junk or gems, just rand gen item and some plat

as if running with penalty to treasure boost (funniest part I have lesser treasure boost elixir on that toon active)

CHAOTIC EVIL
UPDATE 666:

DDO Sell your Soul expansion!!!

Step up to go down! Give your Blackest heart of charred wood to the shrouded life-taker... and for the low, low, cost of 5 (randomly chosen) past lives... get 1 (one) choice of any loot in the game. Every 4 (four) times you do this, get a random chance at 1 (one) Death only super secret ultra giga rare Unknown Power weapon/item.

Will you give it all away to get a little more?

* (please note: All items/weapons gained this way expire and turn to dust after 1 year)

Enjoy!

Wrong. If the chance of pulling loot is so low it's not worth the bother people won't bother.

You're on Orien, right? How my MD LFMs do you see? We're one week old and the MD LFMs are dryer than what my sex life was in high school.
For me when I observe people aren't playing, the thing failed somehow and my analysis is mostly over. Doesn't necessarily prove any other particular theories. I think the issue is they keep intentionally designing new loot to be incompatible with other good configurations, and keep locking every type of thing to the same slots. The issue is they have a rare list, and they intentionally designed the entire non-rare list to be newb traps that rarely work out.

The devs really succeeded at...um...reducing lag this expansion?

Given the nature of the "fun" in MD perhaps it should have included 1000 AS with the basic expansion purchase as that seems to be a requirement at this point

The chance for the rare loot table is about 5% from gathered data by forumites.
The chance of getting the rare you want from the dragon or wurm is therefor : 0.1 x 0.05 x 0.33 = 0.00165. That is 0.165%, which is 1/600.
Without rerolling the chest that will cost you 85 weeks of ransacking for the basic chance of that 1 item.

Rare drops in most other quests are 0.33 x 0.05 x 0.33 = 0.005445. That is 0.05445% which is roughly 1/185. That is a solid 26 weeks of ransacking.

Most likely you're not going to need just 1 piece for your gear tetris. In fact all the really good gear and augments are all on the rare table. In order to not get just basic odds but good odds to acquire a functioning set you can most likely double, triple or quadruple this time.

This loot system is by far the most predatory and disgusting thing SSG has done. It's an obvious scheme to sell astral shards for rerolls and is absolutely contemptuous to consumers.

It is also in fact illegal in Europe and many other places due to gambling laws and odds that are not public.

This is not just general internet rage at change. This is very specific rage at predatory business practices that are overwhelming and destroying gaming communities everywhere. Whether it is EA, Hasbro/Wotc, Games Workshop or SSG. It is a loathsome trend that needs to stop. We are not "under-monetized" walking wallets the CEO's are entitled too.
At the very least rare drops should become less rare over time. As months and years progress the loot should stop being rare and maybe even become common. This should be a part of all older content. This rare loot doesn't need to stay rare when the level cap is 40.

No MD LFMs on Orien either. 10:30 PM Eastern time. As prime time as it gets.

This update is dead a week later.

Why do we pay money for this game?

Wow.. so y'all don't go it alone, aka solo? Soloing is it's own pleasurable trapse, IMO. Personally love soloing. But if you want to EE, get good :p

You're (collectively, not you personally) seriously. trying to bash SSG because LFMs are down after, from my perspective, bashing the game for being too easy?

I love soloing my toon, at my pace, so I know what it's capable of. And I love grouping for help/comraderie.

If you're (collectively) bashing based on low LFM's, that's a new (trolling) low *and suggests that you're (collectively) a grifter, Chasing the Dragon

If your definition of good is soloing EE I feel bad for you.

What, me worry?
Gear tetris will be less fun b/c when I look up items for some slot/stat I also need to make sure it's not rare, b/c it's not desirable for me to farm rares, unless I already have the rare, in which case I'll need to consult my inventory tracker.

I also think this product encourages folks to hoard gear as it'll require folks to catalog their loot and check their catalog before considering passing...which would make chest looting also become a time drag & another opportunity for the group to get split up.

I also think it may diminish our sense of community as pug folks will be less apt to pass gear, b/c most won't track their gear real time and in case it's rare and they might need it later.

This added tracking layer is less of a game and more of an inventory management campaign.

The eternal struggle, probably by design: After gear-tetris, Inventory.

@Teh_Troll "If your definition of good is soloing EE I feel bad for you." Don't. Not for that, anyway ;)

Seriously, they really needed to have Astral Shards on sale for 1000 for $20 to make this expansion fun. The DDO store price of 5395 is designed to suck up free DDO points gained through favor farming, it is not a realistic price for AS bought for Cash.

Every other F2P game does these kind of Deals, including Zynga($$$$$). Why not go Value Size?
