Naked baby warforged

Has anyone else noticed that WF Fighters, Barbarians, Paladins, and Monks (and archetypes) do not receive anything at char gen? All other WF classes and all other races in all classes start with either a docent (WF) or rags and appropriate spell components. It's apparent at the login screen if you know to look, but obvious when you enter the game at Level 1 either way (snowy or sunny-side of Korthos). Seems like a bug, eh?

Nope. Warforged don't inherently come with docents. "Batteries not included" springs to mind, or better yet...."additional accessories available". The only exception being the Bladeforged, but they come pre-accessorized.....it's like the difference between buying an electric screwdriver and an electric screwdriver with multiple heads bundle.

Fundamentally, WF are coming from a place of non-entity into autonomy (heh). Assuming they weren't just basic menial 'bots who didn't need extra stuff, then those coming from the Last War probably had their accessories retained by their previous owners. Those that retained their war-time gear......aren't Player characters....because they wouldn't be level 1. Or Warforged. Who are inherently level 15 despite being able to play them earlier (without leveling them up or HC).

@Sympl Uhm, thanks?

Anyway, regardless of the lore-of-warforged and of their connections to the history of House Cannith and Eberron, the point remains that currently in the DDO play experience (esp. thinking about new players, here), ONLY the classes of WF I mentioned (the "Melee" play style classes of the Char. Gen. interface) start without a docent. All of the "Spell" and "Specialist" play style WF classes (and their archetypes), which includes Ranger (a "fighting" class), *do* start with a docent, in addition to spell components or thieves tools, if relevant. And, melee classes of all of the other races *do* get rags at the start. This seems like a strange inconsistency and bug-like to me. Does anyone agree or disagree?

Yes, I agree that all WF classes should start with a docent. Clearly an oversight.

Although I will say that it's worse that casters don't receive spell mats until the end of the tutorial. When I was new, I made the mistake of selecting spells that required mats, and then I couldn't use them throughout the entire tutorial... and with absolutely terrible stats for using weapons, of course. It was terrible, a bad start to the game, LoL. I wonder how many newcomers with that experience didn't continue playing the game.

Tutorial details and starter gear could be polished.

The rags thing is because WF can't wear them. In the early days, no clothing could be worn by WF. It wasn't until Ravenloft that they started adapting the look of clothing to the WF body, and that was many years after the tutorial. Nowadays the best thing is to use a mirror in one character's rags, and get some bta cosmetic rags (which I don't know if the WF can use, I guess not)

WF are "graphically challenged" in their current form. They need an update.

They also need modern MDB values that scale with their gear.

Wouldhnt the WF version be a rusted Docent ?
Interesting question. Since they are inherently magical (see: https://eberron.fandom.com/wiki/Docent), rust seems like it'd violate that somehow.

This highlights another little inconsistency in this vein that I hadn't recognized until now: the basic docent that some WF classes get at the start improves AC (magically). However, the rags provide no bonus at all...except warmth...maybe.

I'm not sure I agree that they should all start with the current "starter" docent. They are all, even this basic one (AC bonus), inherently magical and all the other races don't get such a benefit. I'd rather they provided all WF with a "malfunctioning docent" that was irreparably damaged by the dragon attack, or prolonged exposure to saltwater, or something similar. This would be much more in alignment with the new char. experience for all other races.
