What occurred to me about the guild packing is that if you don't have an Astral Shard airship, but one obtained via guild level and platinum, what is the time frame to get the old standing back? If the guild leader has only gotten enough guild XP to get the guild to say, level 10, but there's a level 150 airship that existed before, does that airship reconstitute itself immediately? Should the guild leader wait until the whale XP grinders move over so their contribution is counted? How about level based amenities?

More information is needed on the transfer page to cover these concerns, and specifically we need to hear that SSG doesn't just believe that everything works because they wrote the code and it all looks good, but has actually gone through the process of doing it and ensured that it actually works. There have been some pretty massive Q&A oversights in the recent past, so faith level is low.

May we get clarification on the where abouts the servers will be? for example :
  • Oerik north or east or west or south
  • Thrane north or east or west or south
Some of our decisions may be for that of less latency.

All the American servers are going to be in Las Vegas.

That's 80ms (approx) from East Coast, 60ms from Midwest and 40ms from West Coast. Numbers slightly lower most likely in all cases.

Moonsea is going to be in Amsterdam. That's 95-100ms (approx) from East Coast USA, likely 120-125ms from Midwest, 40ms from Western EU/UK, likely 60ms from Eastern EU and 80ms from Euro Russia. All numbers are approximate and based on educated guesses after both testing on Cormyr from East Coast USA and looking at pings to and from there and then projecting based on differences in latency as distances and hops increase.

Where Japan, South Korea, China, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand wind up as best options is anybody's guess at this point. Same for South America, India, UAE and accounts trying to play over satellite to either of the datacenters.

People who aren't sure where their fastest path is should setup characters on Cormyr now to begin to evaluate what a guild shift to Las Vegas would mean for members.

Ping to Euro datacenter can be tested in LotR quite easily. I am looking at 20ish ms instead of current 100ish. So quite an improvement

For those who wonder what happens when you transfer more characters than you have character slots; you have choose which characters to use.

Cheers for that Foxy (I can't stop thinking of you as our canary no, but canary-y is too tricky to pronounce! 🤣) 😁👍

Guild leaders will use the Pack function to pack their guild information, and that information will transfer over to the new game world with that character.
Sadly, when the time comes I will resign my leadership and leave our guild. Whilst I'm the leader, it's not really "my" guild, and the vast majority of folks are West Coast USA, whilst I'm EU. So this old ronin will look for a new place to call home on the new server. Wistful for the past and hopeful for the future. ❤️😁👍

I'm a US player who works overnight, so fully expect the new, more populated US servers to feel like a ghost town for me. (On the other hand, my guildies all live in Vegas, so pitching them on a euro server is a non-starter.)
I'm hoping the most populated US server has enough people on it that play during the dark hours in the USA that it doesn't feel empty.

Not for someone who went thru this on Hobbit-side. For us, it's more of a, "Wait til y'all get a load of what's REALLY gonna happen."

Don't mind me, I'll just be sitting over here watching...

Would you say it is better to pass guild leadership to a first life mule than keeping it on main charcter so PL and such won't be "packed" together with guild info and AS etc?

In the article. We will have further detail about possibilities like VIP name reservations on the new worlds as we get closer to the date.
Some of us have been using specific names for over a decade or more. The transfer will 100% enable squatters to be able to "claim" a name just by being first. Either for spite, to extract a bit-coin payment from the player, or to assume a popular streamers name. This will cause complete chaos!

@Cordovan So whats going to happen when folks attempt to transfer to Cormyr only to discover that someone has setup their character name months in advance?

From the stream they said that new servers can handle the population easily and at the same time cannot and players should spread out on servers. So abit mixed opinion on it and it is from players end kinda hard to spread out if do not now the statistics of population / server

. Atleast we can wait and see if Cormyr crashes on 10.7 and the we hear how the lag is in it.

One thing Severlin didnt seem to understand on the stream is that if you have a guild at lvl 200 you have invested alot of time and money on it, it / guild leader chooses where its members will transfer, it is at this moment impossible to know where should migrate (would help if could re-pack the guild again and move to a different server so if I choose like that Cormyr and it will be unplayable because of lag etc. for months)

Hence why I also asked earlier if we should create separate accounts to transfer Leader roles to move guilds around instead?
But, creating separate account won't magically double all of your posessions ! It would be a complete fresh account, without ASs, mounts, pets, shared banks. So, what is the point ?
Well, we don't know exactly how it will work, but it looks like 1 guild leader with everything + 1 guild leader on the same account with just the guild = 1 guild leader with everything + 1 guild leader on the separate account with just the guild.

So, basically, if you have 2 separate guilds on 1 server, you should transfer them both to the same new server, I guess.

We checked our "renown whales" last night. Just our two biggest (who share a house together) will be 100 million renown, which is guild level 160. Good enough for all amenities. The slow climb back to 200 will give us (at last!) a use for those quild renown potions that seem to have slowly accumulated.

Please be aware that they are looking into reduced guild renown loss for the transfer. Current loss is Amicable 10%, Bad terms 25%, Expelled by officer 25% (inactive for <1 month full penalty, inactive 1 month < 6 months reduced penalty, inactive > 6 months no penalty)(Guild Renown scroll 5/6 of the way down to Guild renown loss from leaving characters).

What I have been doing to the Guild that was given to me is taking toons out of the guild on amicable terms and bringing them back in. This resulted in only a 10% loss of what they had earned but kept the rest with the guild. I then make up the difference. I may have the guild fully topped off for renown (level 200) before the transfer.
