In this regard, one interesting question arises. How long will the unpacking option be available ?
Like I've got a character in the overflow. 7 years later, I finally decide to buy a new character slot. Will I be able to /unpack it or this feature would be long gone, leaving the character unplayable ?
2 years on a ghost server

I have a couple of Questions. First how will it work when we transfer from more than one server, I have tr toons on all the server's way more then 47 characters but only have 47 characters spots and when I transfer will the shared banks stack or wipe out the previous server shared banks from the other server I transferred first. I add up my toons from all servers I have 238 toons' so it won't even work with 3 servers does this mean I have to delete toons to get down to size and what about the money I have spent on the toons I have to delete, I've been playing this game for over 15 years and always been VIP or is this just another time VIP's get the shaft again.
Wow. And I thought I was bad with 99 .....

And let’s not even start on the shared banks. No one really knows if they’ll stack, override, vanish into the astral plane, or just scream internally and quit. It’s like playing inventory roulette with 15 years’ worth of loot.
DDO's given us over two months to plan ahead. Yes, some will jump on H-Hour / D-Day. Others will dribble in over the following seven weeks. There's no reason not to mitigate the potential damage as much as possible. We can do our part by cleaning up before July 9th.

Clean out your TR caches. Clean out your shared banks. Clean out your character banks. Cash in your jewely bags. I don't think there's enough portable storage for the Collectable bank side, but we can do the research, go through and bag stash the rare and truly hard collectables/ingredients. Feed all those named items cluttering your inventory to your favorite weapon. If you're short on plat, sell stuff. If you're not, leave it. Take an inventory of the truly hard items to get, with screenshots, so if they do disappear into the ether, you have a visual record to send with your bug ticket to DDO. Items like Jibbers, raid loot, artifacts, etc.

DDO's using this to eliminate 20 years of toon clutter from the servers. Good opportunity for us to purge 20 years of stuff clutter, too.

That part right there is the big problem. It will take me a month or two to move characters over with that requirement. I'm hoping we can pack just one character to move the shared stuff and do simple transfers to preserve the TR caches.

Not only do I barely have space for ONE character to unpack a cache, after I've unpacked it, that character has to immediately TR to fill the cache again and make space for the next character. And, what happens to the shared bank if we dump the cache into it for the second character to pack that? It's gonna land on a FULL shared back over on the destination.

If they want to give all my characters free bank space to un/pack the cache, no problem. I don't see 'em doing that, though.

You don't have to empty your TR cache, but you do have to pack every character.

To be clear, since we keep feeling compelled to state it: You must run a Pack function on every character that you wish to transfer. There are no exceptions to this rule.

You do not need to empty anything other then guild chests for the most part, although you should consider things like in-game mail archives and such as listed in the article linked earlier in this post. If you want to get more complex with it to facilitate more complex splitting of transfers you can, but you don't have to.
Correct, there is no need to empty your Reincarnation Cache prior to transfer.

Then you are split with the other half of the guild. We don't have the power to prevent the split unless we can convince entire guilds to go to the same server no matter where it is located. The excitement of the EU server shows how many people value ping more than friendship. There is no way to prevent that unless all of your guild is in a geographically similar area.
Then that decision has been made by your guildies - not by SSG. Blaming SSG would be inappropriate. You should be posting on your guild Discord debating the issue instead as thats where the decision lies

You don't have to clean out a TR cache to move servers. Haven't had to for a long time. No reason to mess with it unless you find it absolutely necessary.

Why try to answer if you didn't even bother to read the question ? 🙄
Ah, for at least 2 years. However, the better option is to pack, transfer, unpack each character. Every time you transfer a character and you are over the limit you will be given a choice of which character to enable and which to leave disabled, on the final transfer you select you final roster.

Dear Cordovan,

I have a few questions. I never did a character transfer in the past so maybe some are covered there. My apologies if I didn't found the relevant info.

Q1) You are not mentioning anything about Quest Progress, Favor Progress, Saga Unclaimed Rewards etc.
I'm currently in the process of prepping saga completions and I wanna use my Guild renown potion for them. Will the Saga rewards be still available after the transfer? Or should I claim my rewards before transfer?
Q2) I recently come back to the game, most of my items and characters are from another era :p Before Update 50. Will legacy stuff transfer fine and over time fix on the new servers? Will legacy augment removers be available? (Probably I can check on Cormyr that)
Q3) Old pre50 items still in TR cache will be okay?
Q4) I have some legacy rewards pending on some NPCs for druid becoming f2p etc... Should these be resolved before the transfer?
Q5) When I merge two servers to one, and the items are more than what a shared bank can handle, what happens? (Anyhow, I am trying to travel light with empty shared banks but I was wondering)

I will stop because probably I can continue asking stuff forever :-D

Thank you in advance, and thank you and the team for keeping the game alive!

Not sure if this was asked and I missed it. The pets and mounts get packed and transferred does that unlock those pets and mounts on the target server for new characters?

Pets & mounts are server-wide and for anyone on a given server, so yes new characters would be able to use them too.

Wasn't that a caution for HC, if you got a mount certificate you should not use it until you got back to your home server.

You couldn't transfer pets & mounts from HC because that tech didn't exist; so they'd go POOF. If you used them there, you were just wasting them for a few months of usage. The new pack function makes them move to your new world, so all good on that front.

It is true that guilds will lose renown from members who are no longer active and who never transfer over.
This is a totally [redacted] solution to the problem. My guild that has been around since launch is going to lose 100 levels. SSG needs to do better. What about our Guild Ship, the amenities, and the rest of the issues that SSG is causing? Not going to be able to place items we paid for with Astral Shards.

You can do much to fix that problem right now. If you have 100 levels of guild rank from old members, KICK THEM OUT OF THE GUILD. Right now. If they have been inactive for 6 months or more, then you won't lose any levels.
