Hey cordo, not sure if anyone's brought this up, but would it be possible to allow transferred characters a first name AND a last name swap for free?

I was looking around and testing name change stuff on some of my HC bozos whose names I don't care about, and found in /help that there's a /changesurname
I used the /changename (or whatever) and it worked fine, but when I tried /changesurname it said I had no free name change tokens left. So I tried on another guy and just tried to change my last name, but got the same message. Was hoping you got one free token that could be used for either.

Most of my names are unimportant, but I know a LOT of people are very attached to their character names, and just changing one wouldn't make any sense. If the goal is to make the transfer to new 64 bit servers seamless, it would help a lot to be able to change both and not have to pay store pts to make your character not have a stupid name. Especially since it's 495pts for a last name change.

I have a few concerns (listed below). If you know anything about them, please let me know.
  1. When Character 1 performs a Pack, the Shared Bank becomes empty.
  2. New items are placed into the now-empty Shared Bank.
  3. Character 2 then performs an Unpack.
Q1: Transferring Characters 1 and 2 to the Same Server
  1. Transfer both Character 1 and Character 2 to the Thrane server.
  2. First, Unpack Character 2 (who was Packed later), then Unpack Character 1.
Will the Shared Bank on the Thrane server contain items from both Unpack 1 and Unpack 2?
Or is it not possible to Pack twice on the original server?

Q2: Transferring Characters 1 and 2 to Different Servers
3. Unpack Character 1 on the Shadowdale server.
4. Unpack Character 2 on the Thrane server.

Will the Shadowdale server have the items from Pack 1, and the Thrane server have the items from Pack 2?


I wonder if details this specific will even be reflected in the updated transfer manual...

We brought that up on Hobbit-side.

They're not allowed to send emails like that because too many places have laws against sending unsolicited emails.

If I already have a guild on Comyr and I decide to transfer an existing guild from say Sarlona, what happens? Will I have two separate guilds on Comyr or will they merge in some strange way?

They indicated the name doesn't matter, there is some type of id behind the scenes. So if your guild has the same name it will move over with -1 at end of the name and you will get a free rename.

So 2 guilds not a merger.

Yes, the contents of Shared banks/Crafting storages will stack with each other. And all the other Unpack 3/Unpack 4/.../Unpack 500
If your Shared Bank went overflow you won't be able to put items into it till you empty Shared Bank below your current limit.

You need to pack every character !

Yep. That's how we've been said it supposed to work.

I assume they'll send an email for the transfer info to everyone who has already opted in to the emails. But there's probably a bunch of folks who've never opted in to receiving the emails like that.

One week to go and still no FAQ (with a step-by-step guide at the bottom) which would literally take an hour to do and half an hour to review. Just pathetic.

We are adjusting the launch date for our new 64-bit game worlds and free transfers, and we now expect to begin transfers to our new 64-bit game worlds and Cormyr on Tuesday, July 15th. We expect to have more information on packing and transfers tomorrow.
