New Coffer GREAT!

I got the cheap coffer to test the lightsaber. The Necro aura is like a toned down Eldritch aura, an improvement in my opinion. The Improved Acid Aura still makes a better green lightsaber imo but this Necro aura is a decent toned down Eldritch aura, looks subtler than either Improved Acid or Eldritch, like an evil green lightsaber, maybe like those darkside witches. Best lightsaber aura is still the Solar Flare (red) imo.

so that why you guys took so long to fix lag bc you where doing new coffer :) now it all make sense :D

before all forum paladin's will lynch me i get that some1 other do coffer's and some other do lag's fix but after 2 weeks of horrible lag they could atleast give some compensation and i dont mean free items but atleast good event with exp or something ( not buddy bonus bc it lag even more )

so giving another coffer is like spit in your face
Charging 100 dollars for cosmetics is a tactic straight out of EA's book. /Pass

No real PVP in this game so pay to win doesn't exist. Pay to get a stronger character is what makes up most of the store purchases already.
Right and this is just cosmetics. So I really don't see the big deal. If someone has the money and likes the look, cool. Doesn't give them any advantage at all.

I don't have an issue with them selling any of it but not everyone has to agree with the price point. I wouldn't pay for cosmetics at all, but that is my choice, not some belief against selling them.

I liked some stuff in previous packs, but I'm not interested in cosmetics either. Some people really love them. *shrug*

Forum Paladin here, they are not giving anything, you have to buy it. So it is more like paying someone to spit in your face. If you are not into that then maybe don't pay for it? Although the tears from all the crying blend in nicely with the spit so... to each their own.
Sometimes you have to hawk tuah on that thang.

Well, they've given us 30 days of Gold Rolls, which I consider acceptable compensation for the 3 days of game progress I lost when my whole group froze and died, losing our lanterns. I'm like 99% certain coffers are scheduled to be released at set times, and the timing has nothing to do with anything other than the coffer being ready to be released. I'm mollified, although that doesn't mean I'm rushing back to Corymr for anything except the gold roll. I just don't want to put up the lag every time a Mist Guardian spawns.

On a serious note, all these overpriced coffers, rare loot, (poor) attempt at improving VIP benefits, including VIP only server, indicate some level of desperation.

Ddo might be at higher than ever risk of being shut down, so if you're a forum paladin, maybe buy 3 coffers just to be sure.

Lame. Sounds like a rushed project.

Does it even work on Tiefling or Dragonborn?

I'm assuming it does but it does not show the racially appropriate skull.

You'd rather they go down the Pay to Win route?
DDO literally already has that with £104 edition expansions which include Racial APs that you cannot get anywhere else, and with a large portion of the game being centered around getting lots of unique items and then adding bank/.inventory space not available elsewhere in cosmetic packs.

So you'd like them to double down on that by getting rid of cosmetic offers like this and replace them with more P2W stuff?

Like people consider Gacha games "predatory" in that they encourage you to keep trying to pull the characters you want but if you'd spent £240 on genshin impact in the space of 12 months you'd have so many full constellation 5 star characters.

DDO's drip feeding of bank/inventory space alongside cosmetics for hilarious amounts of money is something only the most ardent (and hopefully well off - I'd hate to see a DDO addict spending their rent money on this tripe) whales could accept imo. I'm glad I didn't acquiese to my urge to play again this week, SSG is abusing the game's most die-hard fans.

I get all this however I have to ask: do you think 64-bit servers grow on trees?

Without the Milk the Whales paradigm it is highly doubtful that DDO is profitable enough to keep in active development. EG7 might be able to get a workable profit out of maintenance mode but they're more likely to just shut the game down when it reaches that stage.

I fully agree with this statement, highlighting the desperation and high risk of shuttting down.

I am investing nothing into a long term plan for myself in this game as the fun levels have dropped and I dont see that changing in the future.

I'm not against the concept of video game studios making money, far from it, I think the majority of people providing their labour in creative industries are probably underpaid....but I am a consumer advocate at heart and I genuinely think DDO is an extremely anti-consumer game. If you have the patience and wallet to put up with this nonsense then I am glad for you, but I don't and this game has gotten away from me because I am just not willing to spend what's being asked at this point to keep my character up to date (yes, technically all of the overprised upgrades are 'optional' but it's not to me, that's just how I feel/what the game has encouraged out of me).

As for "Do 64 bit servers grow on trees?"
No, but realistically, the modern hardware and rackspace required to run the 64 bit server is likely MUCH cheaper than the hardware to run the 32 bit server on was 10 or so years ago, also the 32 bit servers were likely running on the same hardware the 64 bit one is now on, it doesn't have to be 32 bit architecture to run a 32 bit application. In the long run 64 bit servers will likely save SSG money.

Without wanting to invite any false equivalencies, other small MMOs are getting by without bilking their die hard players left and right. Just to clarify for me this isn't just about the Patron coffers, it's the £80-£100 a year alternating between mini and main expansions where the die hard players feel compelled to buy the most expensive version (also the cheapest version is really bad value for money).

Recent events since the +3RAP edition of Myth Dranor are just the last straw for me. I could rationalise spending a non-miniscule wedge of money on DDO every year because I really liked the game but honestly I kind of see which way the wind is blowing at this point, it feels like a race to the bottom.

And with that, i'll wait for it to come on sale. I'd have preferred the skull effect as a helm, not all bound together.

Does it show the racially supported skulls? dragonborn, tiefling, etc?

Thanks for being the trailblazer :)

Forum Paladin here again to address all the Chicken Littles spouting the sky is falling garbage. You will be gone long before DDO is gone. DnD brand recognition will always carry this game. You have been saying this for going on 19 years now so 0 fer life so far. Keep on hating :) "Gacha games" only work when you allow yourself to be "gacha'd" Time or money, decide what you want to spend and then only blame yourself.
