A plane isnt a server, though. A server is a whole world. Greyhawk is a whole world. I think its a more natural conclusion, at least one that a higher percentage of new players might accidentally reach. I wouldnt name the servers "3.5" and "5.0" either for the same reason.

Regardless they're not going to change the name at this point anyway so congrats to everyone who decides to move to Wayfinder 2, enjoy writing your manifestos :)
So the scales have changed from supposedly Moonsea being the new Wayfinder. Though, I thought that was funny when that was said. And handily proven wrong shortly after. :ROFLMAO:

I also don't see Oerik being the new wayfinder. The people I know that went to Sarlona and not Orien. Went there for reasons and not going to Thrane will be the same reasons.

I am sure if we decide on Oerick we will still be able to play the game without the new Thranians too. :ROFLMAO:

Why does Oerik need to be renamed?
It doesn’t. It’s just people don’t like it for some reason.

And for a boutique game like this, and especially with something so simple as renaming a server I think SSG should allow for at least 1 server to be named by players. (with their final approval of course.)

I voted for Cyre since it's short and easy to type. I also like Galifar because it sounds like Gallifrey.

Edit: I voted for Galifar because it sounds like Gallifrey, and is fun to say. I might also be happy with Cyre, but that's a little too short to be said in a way that can't be misinterpreted.

I don't like the name Oerik because it feels awkward to say, feels awkward to type, and the 'K' at the end makes it look sharp and aggressive.

Then offer an alternative.

I think half the population appreciates a Double-D server.

It's not good to support animal cruelty.

How many hamsters did they squeeze before one gurbled out, "Oerik!"
Ask Gary Gygax, the one who created and named it. Oerik is the largest continent on the world of Oerth from the Greyhawk campaign setting.

Guessing he burned out every creative neuron making D&D and had none left over for names. Were there other originals, like Obob and Osue, too?

Well when asked about the pronunciation of Oerth, it was more like with a brooklyn accent, like "oith". Bringing that over to Oerik makes it sounds more like an onomatopoeia for pig noises "oiik!" . However, Greyhawk is a very well established campaign setting, so you can easily look up the names of everything within it. I don't recall any Obobs or Osues, but there is the Flanaess, Hyperborea, Ishtar, Tharquish, Erypt, Nippon, etc. This may sound rude, but lets turn the tables for one moment, just to make an example... could one not also make the same claim about your name? It is Bond with a random J thrown in? or it is blond with the L replaced with a J? What's next, Bjob and Sjue, or would it be a more like Bjake pjaying with Cjetus? And yes, it is rich coming from someone who's name is "vryxnr", I've often been told my name is what happens when you headbutt a keyboard, just a random mishmash of consonants and a "sometimes" vowel (in this case it is one).

This name-hatred is, imo, getting kinda silly (and not in a good way).

Yeah to be fair Oerth is the least creative setting in any major work of high fantasy. The whole thing is basically Earth with a few letters changed. Or not even changed at all, in the case of Nippon.
