New race in Myth Drannor?

If they do a dwarven iconic it really should be a Duergar Blackguard. Lots of lore and color there.

Just switch alignment to Lawful Neutral, not a particularly big switch given we have Half-Orc, Shadar-Kai, Tiefling and of course Human in the mix already.

Alch involved an all-new magic system. Psyonics would as well... but there are loads of other classes that could work well within mechanics/systems that already exist in the game today (with minor tweaks). Maybe if instead of new classes being a "this will happen once every 5 years" thing, it was something that was always being developed in the background it could work.
But other than something like psionics where it really would be nice to have a full class, what's left that can't be done as an archetype? The last big classic class for me would be 'Cavalier' and even that could easily be made an archetype that uses polearms (with the same tricks inquis does for double-xbows for making staves into polearms). They've been dumping out several archetypes a year; it covers all the "new class" needs without the overhead of having do a full new class.

Shaman. I guess that could be a druid archetype, though.

Yeah. I think most remaining stuff could just be archetypes with the addition of new spells/abilities/nifty new trees. Trickster illusionist; rogue caster tree with some new illusion spells. And so forth.

New race is not kobold. We're getting new archetype, wild mage. A new iconic (probably one that plays well with sorc), and a new race. Monday streamers and other content creators will have access to Lamania to show off the new race and iconic.
I could see the iconic being an elf of some sort. The race could be Gith but it feels bad if they only doing one of the Gith races and not both.
Edit: I only suggest Gith because of the popularity of BG3.

My money is on Gith. If Githzerai is the iconic, I'd imagine it could be either monk or sorc.

I think they've done a pretty poor job with Archetypes, for the most part. I knew they would too, from the way they first outlined their reasons for doing them. They could have been fleshed out much more than they were.

I see them as an outlet for half-arsing it some more. They arbitrarily decided to exclude an enhancement tree, as a quirk - which is just going to handicap them going forward - but also players wanting diverse builds. A lot of the abilities they have is just cut/paste jobs from stuff that already exists in the game; with minor differences here and there (which is lame, unimaginative, and indolent). They don't have active past life feats of their own. They don't even have their own icons on the UI, to differentiate them from the base classes. That's just lazy. But Archetypes (done the SSG way) facilitates all that.

No...I would much rather they take a year or two, devoted to creating just one entirely new class. One that is cohesive, well thought out, and developed; both mechanically, and thematically.

The other Gith race may come in the Planescape expansion, which has not been announced but was the other big winner in the poll they did so imagine it will be the next up.

I think it will be Moon Elf, with the iconic being a wild mage sorcerer.

If we didn't already have an iconic wizard I would have said a Red Wizard of Thay would be the Iconic.

Mixing Wild Mage Sorc with the iconic would be perfect for the players as that allows running them torgether. Thus I doubt that will be the case.

That's actually an interesting point. Now that we have archetypes there is room for Iconic races that start with those archetypes. In this case it would mean we'd still have no Sorcerer (base class) Iconic. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

My guess is Githyanki with the Iconic being a battle-focused Sorcerer (retaining Eldritch Knight and dropping the Elemental Avatar trees for 2 other options). Sorc is the closest we'll ever get to a "Psionicist" (sadly, we'll never get that class or Psy-Warrior). If so, the design will likely be inspired by Lae'zel from BG3 (given her popularity) and the Eldritch Knigh subclass is a common build for Lae'zel in BG3.
