For Paladin, pure works really well. Almost all melee builds take at least 15 levels for Holy Sword and Zeal 4th level spells. The only non-pure split I'd recommend is 15 Pally / 5 DragonLord (fighter). If you're a WF, consider going Two handed Fighting (2HF) with a greatsword as you get it as favored weapon (or can pick it uyp in the KnightOfTheChalice (KotC) enhancment tree. For the DL/ Pally split, usually folks take T5 in the Dragonlord tree and then Tier 4 in KotC. With the split you can get HolySword (since it's a spell) AND T5 DL crit enhancements and they partially stack. Note that the main downside of the split is it's a late bloomer as you don't really have everything come together until cap.
Don't go Wisdom at all. You can cast all paladin spells in the game with minimum wisdom (6) and items. It doesn't buy you anything. Cha based only works under one of two scenarios: You take the Purple Dragon Iconic (and get tohit/dmg from your racial tree) OR you take the Magical Training feat and have the Feydark illusionist tree (which also costs 8ish AP).
Else just go strength, sling a greatsword and go to town. Pure WF pally works just fine at cap.
Note that if I'm heading to cap I usually go pure pally, CHA based with Bastard Sword using the feydark route since you can use the ED cores and save a feat. The 5 DL is insane damage, pure pally is a little more durable when soloing.
If you want more crowd control, the 5 DL splash adds the dragon roar which is an AoE cone stun based on strength and it's AWESOME.
