night revels horse scam

Did you play Everquest? This grind is nothing. The quests are laughably fast and easy, and it seems that the xp doesn't diminish as you do them, so the xp doesn't suck either while grinding out those scales and weird foods. Nobody is forced to run these. Nobody's game experience gets better (in any real sense) from purchasing the items. Sure, there are a few decent weapons, and the night cloak is pretty cool (still no repeaters or regular xbows!!), but it's ultimately not game changing. It's meant to be fun rewards for the people WILLING to suffer through the grind. What would the bloody point be if it was so easy and fast that EVERYONE had the horse, and the cosmetics, etc. Would they still be special then? Not remotely.

I’ve been playing EverQuest since the beta, and when the Epic quests were introduced, I was at the forefront.

But that doesn’t mean you should compare DDO with EQ, because the gameplay is fundamentally different.
DDO doesn’t have you camping for days waiting for a named monster to spawn, and there’s no kill-stealing either.
Back then, I could wait 30 minutes just for a boat to arrive, but now I couldn’t handle that anymore.

Comparing bad aspects of one game to another and saying it's okay because it's better than that is ridiculous, so you should stop thinking like that.

The same can be said for TR.
Since DDO's gameplay involves repeating the same things over and over, they should stop designing quests where you have to repeat the same tasks within the quest itself.

The Mabar event, in particular, is a limited-time quest that requires intense repetition over a short period.
It’s the kind of quest that should be designed with repetition in mind, even more so than regular quests.

In fact, that’s what a game designer’s job is.

Fair points. Re. the boat, not only did we have to wait for it, but we actually had to RIDE it. None of this instant teleport from point A to point B. Oddly, I actually liked those PITA mechanics.

The games are vastly different, yes, but grind is grind. Grind in an annual event that exists only to reward the players with (mostly) cosmetics is, to me, more than acceptable. It's sacrifice, rather than risk, vs reward. Monotony and time to get the shinies. Don't get me wrong: would I PREFER more exciting, entertaining, and engaging quests for the Night Revels? Of course, I would! But, as I've mentioned before, this is not an integral part of the game. If I don't want to waste my time doing the same thing over and over (and over, and over, and over) then I can ignore the NR and just continue with my TR grind. 🤷

last year the new horse (red) originally cost 240 scales. people said this was too much so the cost was reduced to 50.
As far as I remember, they did nothing. Let alone cost reduction.

Well, no. Actually, they did. They said "the prices are right" somewhere either on forum or stream. That's all.

Yeah, the price was not reduced, but the drop rate of scales was bumped up to reduce the number of runs needed. Unfortunately, they also made the scales BtA in the process, making multi-boxing useless.
