Of constructs and rune arms

A couple of questions:
1) Is there any way to raise the max charge tier on a rune arm, and if so how?

2) How do the enhancements on the iron defender work? The wiki seems to say that the construct earns action points that can be spent at an arti trainer, but that option isn't there when you talk to the trainer. I've tried to equip enhancements from the pet character sheet window when my toon had unspent action points, but no dice. Help would be greatly appreciated. I need my tanky pet to be stronger. Thanks.

Iron defenders cannot be customized beyond their armor and collar when leveling as far as I can recall. More can be read here:

There are ways to beef up your hirelings, but it could be argued that the points spent doing so could be better spent elsewhere (like on yourself!)

Harper Tree Tier 2 has Heroic Companion, and Harper Leadership:

The Arcanotechnician Tree has some stuff in it as well.

For question 1, I believe the answer is no. The max charge level of a runearm is fixed by the item. You can increase the minimum standing charge level through a few enhancements in the Battle Engineer tree, but nothing changes the Max as far as I know.

For question 2, they changed the Iron Defender enhancement system a few years ago and now everything is done automatically as you level up. The only thing you can change for the pet is gear (collar and docent). You CAN buff it with spells, for example Bull's Strength will give it +4 Strength.

Thanks. As far as Arcanotechnician, I'm running dual class and started as rogue. I haven't found access to the trees for the second class so far.

Next to each Tree name there's a little triangle, if you click that, a drop down menu appears with all the trees you haven't assigned yet. If you've already put points into a particular tree, you won't be able to access the menu drop down; you can always use the blank spaces to the right of your existing trees.
