One persons trash is a newbies perfect weapons :)

Been playing off and on since 2007 but pretty much can be classified as a newish player. Its unusual currently to find very much useful stuff on the Plat auctions house that is affordable. This is an idea I think would be nice for newer players to be able to get some decent gear while leveling up.

The top tier stuff would still end up on the plat/astral market, but a lot of the gear that is trash for a veteran player is still useful to us newbies. I mean just a +4 spot googles would be a great pick up for me lol

1. Add a vendor that can buy all items for a little more then the general good vendor in most zone.
2. create an auction house that then creates an auction with ever item sold to said vendors.
3. each auction would expire in 24 from time sold to vendor. (could make it lower)
4. auction price for item would be a set price of XX% of its value with no buy out option (could be 75% or even 200% or its value)
5. if someone places a bid on an item it changes the remaining time of the auction to 1 hour ( or maybe just 30 min)
6. each additional bid if under 5 min will set the auction time back to 5 min
7. Converter each purchase to Bind To Account. (these step might be un needed but it would keep people from buying it cheap and reselling is my idea)
8. Auction is not for or from the player. They do not get any money beyond what they sell to the vendor (which creates a small plat sink)

I feel like this would give a quick place for players to get rid of there "vendor trash" and maybe help the community at the same time. This may not be a great idea, and some of the vets maybe able to say why this isn't, but just my idea :)

Not likely to happen.

Either don't loot non-named items or loot them and decon them. You can sell cannith essences on either AH.

Not understanding what this even means? lol

You can "Deconstruct" non-named weapons (except stacked throwing weapons and arrows/bolts) in a machine in the crafting houses, for Cannith Crafting Essences, which can then be sold on the Auction House or the Astral Shard Auction House.

People, even those with very few Cannith Crafting levels, can use those essences to make things as good as what you will find in random chest loot.

You will also get a small amount of Plat when you "Decon" those items.

1. already exists but barely anyone uses them (called brokers)
2. Can buy directly off the broker

Yeah, if its what I am thinking of, it one of the main reasons I thought of this. Its very inconvenient to use and for both the seller and buyer. I as a seller I have to run from broker to broker trying to figure out what they sell or buy from me for very little difference. So I just dump it all at the general goods vendor.

Try this Wiki page: Pawnbroker. It lists the various brokers and what item value level they deal in. Higher level stuff is usually sold in Eveningstar and all brokers are in the central square there..

yeah this is the system that is really poorly done. Its not used because of how awful it is. Which is what my idea was trying to fix. No is going to run around from zone to zone and from vendor to vendor to sell there stuff for 15% more money. You have to make it convenient to use or no one will.

That's why most who even use it just do so in Eveningstar. There is only 1 of each broker there (Armor/Weapon/Clothing/Jewelry), so it is easier. The Marketplace has 4 diffefrent brokers for clothing/jewelry and only 1 for armor/weapons (and that is only up to 800/1700 PP).

Well it would be nice to have a place, lowbies like myself without a bank full of top tier gear had a place to buy gear. Most vet and long time players have zero memory what a noob toon is like. I am sure like you said it will not get implemented as everything they do is weight against how much money it will generate for them. If they tied the abilities to bid to having a VIP accounts is the only way maybe, they would probably care to put the effort into fixing the system. Was just a hopefully idea lol.

They should just change all the current (outside of Eveningstar) brokers over to the Eveningstar model.

It's said that people got out of the habit of using the Brokers in the game. Way back about 2010 I picked up some excellent lvl 3 Mithal plate armor and had such good stats I used it until I hit lvl 12 and finally found something my level with better stats.

But totally agree the current method of multiple brokers based on price just makes it more complicated than it needs to be.

The problem is that there is a place for that but nobody uses it anymore. I seriously doubt adding a new broker, or a system like you recommended (good idea BtW :) ), would change anything in this aspect.

Something very similar to your idea might be this...I f they made a Plat AH window like the "Sell" window where you could just select multiple things (just like when you're selling them) and have them post at base value, or ~90% base, could work. I think that would be easier to implement than a complete rework of the Brokers but this wouldn't help F2P players...They should really remove the posting limit for everyone.

Again, Good idea :) but I doubt it will ever happen. :(

Agreed about the brokers being a bit broken. Probably one of the reasons that people don't use them as much as they should (I generally avoid them for selling items since it's a hassle). I mostly crunch stuff for cannith crystals or post it up for auction if I think it is worth the effort (I don't even bother crunching low level stuff at this point). It's much easier selling all of the stuff to a general vender in one fell swoop (which doesn't help out other players).

IMHO, the Brokers should be consolidated and updated.

My suggestions:
* All Brokers must be in Public Zones - no more being hidden in instanced buildings where items can be lost when the instance ends.
* All Brokers sell all item types - no more x-Broker only sells x-item type.
* Separate the Broker's inventory the way AH or Spell Component vendors now are ("I wish to see Weapons", "I wish to see Armors", etc.)
* Place the new Brokers close to existent AH NPCs, as we are already Pavlovian-trained to go there with items we are looking to sell.

The instanced shops have been dead for years. Unused for about as long as the Capture the Flag tavern NPCs. I've spoken to players who've been playing for years who didnt have a clue the game had either.

I do like the fact that there are jewelry, clothing, armor and weapon sellers. Having one seller for everything would make it more difficult to find things (I suspect their lists could get pretty long). You should be able to sell items that range anywhere from 1st on up to the respective broker though.

I agree.
I don't think it would be hard for the devs to just code it so any items of the right price can be sold at any broker, but then those items populate the lists of the appropriate one.

While we're at it, we could spark some extra interest into brokers if they just started the day with a random selection of items.
Imagine going to the broker's shop as a ritual to see whether one of the random things the game has generated or another player has dropped is a gem that just needs some polish? Would make equipping lower level characters a lot more interesting, at least.

People still wouldnt use it even if it was more convenient than the Pawnbrokers, simply because its not worth it to even loot items out of the chest when plat itself is so generally pointless

If there was more useful plat sinks in the game, then selling loot would become more rewarding, and people would spend the time to do it more. The AH is already the architecture we need for that, and it comes with the built-in advantage of having all the items curated by players. A pawnshop that offers ALL sold items indiscriminately would quickly become too hard to browse, with 99% junk swamping out the 1% of good items.

I think you can still use the trick of respawning the pawnbroker on your Guild Airship to generate new selections of random items
