A question about outfits.
My character has this outfit on which I want to get rid of - its got spikes of wood sticking out of her hair.

Anyway I can just ditch it or change it ?

Yes but you'll have to buy it.

You also might be able to turn off the display - but this might only apply to cosmetics.

A lot of the armor looks the same sitting in your inventory but most have different appearances on the toon. I went on a robe-buying spree one day til I found a robe I didn't hate. :p

Many people find an armor they like, use a Mirror, and just wear the same one forever. If it's just the helmet, you should be able to turn it off,
unless you've got one of those chestpieces that has shoulder spikes that go right up through your head. The designers of that one rolled a (1).

Clicking your head on character figure, toggles through the graphic Helm-Goggle-None cycle.

There is some really nice looking gear that is just random stuff. You just have to try it on to see if you like it and ditch it if you don't. I've found a few things that were worth using a Mirror of Glamering on.

Just in case, but if there's spikes of wood sticking out of her hair, that actually sounds like your character might possibly be a Shadar-Kai. If this is the case, then changing outfits alone will not change the spikes of wood out of her hair, because that will require a hairstyle adjustment rather than an outfit change to get rid of.

If that's the case, the Shadar-kai hair, you may have to resort to the classic "last call at 2AM and they have a 6 CHA" method... a paper bag.
Cosmetic the biggest hat you can, and talk like Dark Helmet until you reincarnate.

Skip style next time and go "old man" bald. If anyone asks, mention the danger of looking down a Fireball wand without checking the safety.

Ahem, In other words, that's a hairstyle you can choose on Shadar-Kai. If that's the case you'll have to rebuild the character.

If not, find another outfit.

Sounds like you are wearing a loot gen outfit. There are several different styles of loot gen outfits. Find one with better stats and equip it on your character and the outfit style will change.

Hair problems are usually quick fixed by wearing a helmet of some sort.
Cosmetic armor, helms, and cloaks can be found in the DDO Store for the most part, as well as Mirrors of Glamering, which are used to make a cosmetic copy of regular armor.
