Past life planning and prioritization

I also have posted this in the New Players forums. I am doing this on the advice of Nimvid. Hope these little guides may be of value to you.

If you are new to reincarnation remember to empty your reincarnation catch. Recently Voodu and Nimvid posted a Video about How to Prioritize Past lives. I am a person who prefers the written word to videos. So I contacted them and shared this document with them about the highlights. Voodu helped me with the write-up by editing it. Since it is about 5 pages here is a link for my document Voodu and Nimvid's past life prioritization

I have not been doing reincarnations a lot. After watching the video, I thought planning out past lives would be of great value to me. I was running with a static group that had invited me to join them and was doing reincarnation that would fit with that group. I am no longer questing with that group for reasons that are not relevant to this discussion. Since I am a person who spent most of my working life dealing with planning out projects at various levels I thought maybe I should develop a plan. So I would like to share my Past Life Planning Considerations with you. In this document, there are links to past forum posts and other relevant videos.

If you have any questions please contact me on the forum. I am currently playing Chiefsnipe and Chieftinker on Sarlona if you want to contact me in the game. I also have a Discord channel using ChiefVisigoth

What’s so hard about figuring it all out?

Regardless of what your end build will be, it’s most efficient to run your racials/epics together. Get your heroic PLs done while running iconic PLs. Farm 1st time reaper bonus every time you hit cap.

I have been looking for a decent guide on this for weeks now. I found that video and had a hard time following it. Thank you so much for putting a summary together!

You are welcome. any questions just shoot me a PM. Made the guide to be copied and used as a template for your customization. I prefer playing ranged toons, then casters and melee last. Everyone is different, glad I could help. I run on Sarlona with chieftinker mainly but also run with a cap toon called Chiefsnipe and an once in a while with my oldest toon chiefchodai. So if you are in game send me a tell or in game mail

Nice write up. As someone who also absorbs better from reading vs. watching videos I appreciate the alternate formats.

I have one minor correction needed in your Past Life Planning Considerations.

The Epic Completionist feat requires you to have done any 12 epic past lives, not one of each.

This is nice because you can complete four sets of three of the same feat and you will be an Epic Completionist. I believe this is the most effective way to do epic past lives, as you can only have one from each sphere active at a time. If you do three of the past lives you most want to have active from each sphere then you get the maximum benefit from your active past lives.

For me I like to focus on the passive defensive boosts first since those work for just about any class/build. I would start with:

3 x Brace (+3 to all saves)
3 x Ancient Knowledge (+9 to PRR)
3 x Trap Absorption (9% trap damage avoidance)
3 x Fast Healing (free healing every minute)

These are just my preferences; Fast Healing is less effective if you're going to be doing quests on reaper and Trap Absorption has a pretty narrow effective use case. If you know you're going to be focusing on melee or ranged then Doublestrike or Doubleshot would be higher priority.

thank you for pointing this out. I was not aware of that point

It's not, for us. But the OP is trying to help others, and those who maybe do need a bit of guidance will hopefully find it helpful.

Fair play to you, OP. ???

Hiii,

The following epic & iconic past lives really helped streamline the leveling process & made each subsequent life a little bit easier. They all have great active/passive benefits, they all can be used together, & the benefits are immediate. The net gain for all 12 past lives feels very significant at Lv.1 & remains valuable even at lv.32.
  • Doublestrike - Martial Past Life Stance: +9% Doublestrike w/ 3 Past Lives.
  • Enchant Weapon - Arcane Past Life Stance: Your main hand equipped weapon gains +3 enhancement bonus w/ 3 Past Lives.
  • Ancient Power - Primal Past Life Stance: +6 to Attack. If Two Handed Fighting, you also gain +6 Damage w/ 3 Past Lives.
  • Razorclaw Shifter - Iconic Past Life Stance: Gain +3 Attack & Damage with Melee Weapons w/ 3 Past Lives.
Net Gain:
+09 Doublestrike
+12 Attack
+12 Damage (THF) /+6 Damage (Non-THF)

Additionally, there are similar epic & iconic past lives that boost output for ranged & caster builds as well.
