Path to Max Favor?

With the move to the new server I thought I'd do something new ... get to max favor for all of the patrons.

My plan was to do all the quests in the Harbor and linked zones, the Market and all linked zones, do all the sagas, and then clean up anything missing. I'd do this at Heroic and then at Epic. Is there a better way to do this? Is there a path that people have followed? Am I missing something that is probably obvious?

Max is a LOT. The path is one and done for everything. There are a few harbor quests that are higher level; you don't need to finish off an area before you move on.

Keep track of the quests that are impossible or hard to solo, and jump in when you see people running them (you'll need Tomb of the Tormented so you can get Cursed Crypt, for instance, and those are both now rarely run, so jump on that if you see a LFM up). There's a list of these somewhere: don't try to solo anything that's ever been thought to be impossible to solo, but now it turns out you can with jibbers and wings and a pet and ddoor.

Some challenges are very hard to get max or high stars without a group, too.

But also pick the low hanging fruit first: it's easier to find groups for Two Toed Tobias than for Precious Cargo, but they both pay.

You'll probably do an ER at 30 to keep up being able to find groups, but there's some stuff you can only do with a nearly capped toon.

That's a fairly normal play on hardcore servers. But there's no special strategy. Start at level 1, and don't stop till you're at 35.

Hit P to get the list of quests. I skip most quests that have an epic or legendary level while I'm leveling up through heroic. Admittedly I usually do the Attack on Stormreach or Gianthold quests at heroic as there's not enough heroic-only quests in the level 13 range.

I usually don't do certain quests that are a pain at lower levels, such as Stealthy Repossession and the Shavarath Devil quests. I go back to those once I hit cap and if I run out of other quests to run.

Also as Synalon stated, I don't usually do the Twilight Forge pre-raid or raid as it's nearly impossible to find a group willing to do them.

Max favor for all patrons would require running a couple of seldomly ran raids that either require multiple people or very specific builds (Twilight Forge, for instance). Or do you mean max favor reward (rather than total max favor)?

Apart from certain quests you need a party for (like Twilight Forge), don't forget you'll need to 5-star all the challenges. Eveningstar is easy but some of the Cannith ones will be exceptionally difficult.
You can do Twilight Forge solo, but it requires a very specific build. Aldbar has a video of him running it solo. For most people though, it would require at least one other person.

It's a pain, but it's a fairly easy 3-man if 2 people know it.

And for 3 people, it doesn't really require any tricks or anything, either. The biggest obstacle is that doing the water puzzle the intended way takes 3 people. You can supplement those with dogs and things, but I wouldn't want to try to do it for anything other than to show off.

But if I've got 2 other people that want to knock it out, it's no big thing at all.

I generally go for max favour on all my alts who I expect to stay at epic for a while (to farm epls). I don't do ANYTHING in heroic that has an epic counterpart. ie I do heroic only quests to the degree that is possibly. The challenges actually give a lot of xp if you do them at level 11-12 (the ones that have a cap of level 15). Now you don't really need the challenges (and I don't know if kobolds have been fixed and kobold island djinn are still bugged afaik!).

Thanks all! It sounds like my original plan is a good way to go about it. I just need to make sure I don't do the Heroic version of quests if they have an Epic version. Should be an interesting grind. :)

For my alts I only epic TR them after they collect their Sagas for leveling up guilds. The way I get them to cap/max favor is to run all Non-Epicable quests starting with the lv 1's and going up from there. I also run all the Heroic Sagas starting with the lowest and going up. You will over level on xp but I don't worry about heroic xp. I run reaper 1-4 depending on what type of toon and level I am using and running at (remember this is first life toons). When I also do Necro 4 to get the Completed Sigil and flag for Ascension Chamber (Abbot). When I am done with the heroic side the toon is lv 23 almost 24 with about 5k+ Favor and 10ish reaper points.

From there I will run Epic quests until lv 30, don't run any base level 30 quests until you are lv 30. That way first time bonus on reaper and getting Legendary XP will help. Run ALL Legendary quests, then do an Epic TR going back to hit all Epic Quests you missed on your first time thru. Repeat until all Epic quests are done which means usually 3-4 Epic TRs. At that point you should have 8kish Favor and 25ish reaper points (again this is for a first life toon).

Running this way maximizes reaper xp (without over doing it), minimizes time and maximizes favor. After a guild bonus weekend where I collect on the sagas I will run the Legendary Sagas then epic tr which at tht point I start with Saltmarsh and run thru all the heroic sagas again. When I finish up with Eveningstar Sagas I will again be lv 23 and ready for the epic sagas. Current estimate puts 2nd pass at 30ish reaper points when completed. (currently have 16 toons doing this, another 7 that are epic ready and more in process. This is not counting my 2 mains.)

I plan on doing this after I finish my current life (last Dark Bargainer, yay!)

I'm also going to pick up every explore point as I go.

The Cannith Challenges are some of the most frustrating bits of favor to get. Most are six starable (five star at max level) easily enough, but it requires coordination. Colossal Crystal requires an obscene amount of luck x.x Disruptor is a nightmare, so I usually just 4 star it. One of the kobols island ones literally cannot be five starred due to bugs.

Some of the end game raids are a b!tch to get on elite/reaper if you're not part of a high end raiding guild.

I am doing something very similar on my Sunday DDOstream. I'm doing every quest with every optional and running them on elite. So far, have finished up Levels 1-2 and some 3s. It's gonna be a long term project for me.

Is that the way that skips a portion of the quest, meaning you don't get completion? Or does it actually complete properly?

You get completion. I'm not sure of a way that would let you continue to the raid without getting completion.

Aldbar's method invloves a companion, dying, and self-rezzing to do the three underwater parts. It'd be easier with two people and a companion (i.e. skeleton, wolf, iron defender). It takes a very specific build to pull off.
