I don't expect anyone to care so this is likely more for me than for you but I wanted to share what's led me to quit DDO.

1st - I've played since early access
2nd - I've purchased every expansion usually the $100 version, and own every content pack in case there was ever a time I was not a VIP

When the forced server transfers started, I was at my PC trying to initiate and could not due to lag. I eventually got the transfer started the next morning. Most of you probably have a couple names that have become your in-game identity as have I. For many years, my names that have existed since the first month of release like "Cryptic" and "OMG" are who I am in DDO. Changing them is like stating over after 19 years....

Both names were taken from me in this process so I opened a ticket and asked SSG to verify which owner created their character name first and award the names to that person. I'm aware of players creating net-new characters on the 64 bit server to lock the names they wanted and esstentially steal them from players like myself.

SSG finally responded to my service ticket yesterday after two months and said they will only deal with TOS violations such as harrasment.

What a total let down.

They forced the server transfer which created this situation not me and as a long time player, they should treat me better and should have managed so many elements of this transformation better. I even purchased this expansion, the $100 version of course...

The game is unplayable due to lag and with this complete deflation of my in-game ego, i'm just done and don't care anymore.

DDO has been a great game and this has been the best gaming community of any game i've ever played but all good things must end. There are many other games out there for DDO to compete with. I hope none of you are facing the same issue as me.

I hope you still enjoy your time in game if you're sticking around.

/Peace Out

What, me worry?
I don't expect anyone to care
it's rough, I get it as I to have been struggling with the recent game direction.

I hope it will get better in the future, but not trying to convince you of anything other than there are folks like me who do care when anyone leaves our community.

take care my friend

yeah, I transferred my characters in the second wave, I had a character with a unique name and when I went to make it as an alt on the server I was going to transfer to it claimed the name was taken, it wasn't, it was registered to my account and was seen in system as already registered. the transfer process was on hold at the time and I thought it was interesting once I finished unpacking and kept the unique name I had simply by waiting and properly unpacking my guild leader first and then each character in turn. I have 15 characters between two accounts. Small compared to some.

I dont blame you for quitting, if you just cant take it anymore you should quit. If the devs dont do something about the lag, many more will be following you. Good luck in life!

You made the right decision. If you're not having fun playing a game, you have to take it upon yourself to move on to where there is fun.

Hopefully DDO is here in another decade if you forgive their trespassings. Safe travels.

This is definitely a transitionary period for DDO. Can only hope we come out stronger.

SSG does not care, they already have your money.
I would not quit, I would go F2P or in your case Premium and play on their dime.
Give them nothing else, just play
As far as the name, when that happens I just usually stick an -x- or -z- after it, not the same but it works.

I have been a VIP since launch, Founder, get the hat, the trinket, the boots, and the ring on every new character and half of my reincarnations. I had a unique name on what is my now main character since Oct 2006. Took the time to create a character on every server with that same unique name, all except Cormyr.
Within seconds of the game update making the new 64-bit servers available not only was my unique named main character taken, but everyone of my regular six characters I play, many of whom had place holder characters on all the other servers. literally first minute. All six.
I opened a ticket after Cordovan posted a couple messages like this with hope.
Any concerns with name reservations should be sent to Customer Support through help.standingstonegames.com. I am personally expecting to receive pings from people like I always do, but I am not involved in the name conflict resolution process, so at-ing me or pinging me will not progress resolution of your concern.
There was also comments from other Devs that in situations where the sniped name would be looked at and appropriate action taken.
The letter yesterday was a slap in the face. First Come first serve? Give me a break I was first years ago.

Cordovan also proudly boasted he sniped a name on day one he wanted. Class acts around here .

Gl omg and may one day you get the itch again and be born omgthewhite. Omgod, OGomg, or some other amazing thing.

I thought they said name sniping would be treated as harassment? 🙄

If others have legitimately used the same name as you for some time then that's a pity. But if that's not been confirmed then it seems like an easy/lazy option to not investigate and confirm matters clearly, and so I certainly don't blame you for quitting. 👍

There has been too much of the easy option taken by SSG staff for my liking recently.

And, as is possibly the case here, by the time the impact manifests, it's too late to recover the lost revenue and lost future revenue. 😕
