Playing any other games during downtime?

I don't make a habit of propping up other games here. But a 12 hour downtime allows some of us the play other games.
Even though it's still in alpha, I've been exploring Soulframe.
Graphics are top-notch, and from what I've been able to do combat is similar to DDO. It's a close second IMHO. The open world setting I don't care for, and labeling it a co-op is also a red flag for me.
Here's a screenshot of what I presume to be a training/town area. Haven't figured it out yet.

When it got dicey the other day I dropped in on Guild Wars. Boring. Albion. Boring. Decided to check in on ESO but the Playstation wanted a few hours of updates and I didn't feel like paying to download the PC version. Eventually I started watching Wednesday and Once Upon a Time (which had jumped a giant Disney shark in season 5.)

I can always fall back on blowing up tanks and warships.

Love warframe, it has the closest and best game engine next to DDO’s game engine(<-the proprietory engine that probably is the only thing keeping DDO alive), the combat in warframe is amazing and the movement and speed dwarfs the game attack speed that keeps getting reduced in ddo.

I have followed the gaming updates on soulframe hoping that it will follow suit on the warframe feel, but so far it doesn’t seem to be quite there, have friends that have been accepted for the early access. Soulframe has been talked about extensively in our community and will likely be a future visit.

Warframe can easily be fully enjoyed free without any spending, the spends you can make doesnt change the fact that the developers have kept the game fun for the ftp players. In other words they don’t continually nerf all the base free stuff to try and force people to purchase-able items in order to have fun. Probably why the population is large and active.

Praying soulframe will be half the game that warframe is but in a fantasy genre.

Warframe is the game I started dabbling in again once the lag hit with full force. Another game with an intricate build system. You can dive as shallow or as deep as you want and still have fun. The only issue I've had with it is a lack of people I want to play with. Pugging some quests is fine, but once my brother stopped playing, I lacked anyone I wanted to play with regularly. The combat is great, though I wish the melee was a bit more intricate than it is.

Warframe is not an older person's game. Once your reflexes slow down and your finger dexterity starts dropping your performance in Warframe, and I'm guessing Soulframe as well, will suffer.

I love the game, don't get me wrong, but I can't keep up with the younger players in groups and solo, well, just doesn't play quite the same.

I tried playing Minecraft for just a bit to get me through the day... but its what I played while on hiatus from DDO for a few months (needed a break). Anyways, I couldn't play longer than 10 minutes and became bored. I've been watching movies and the news instead. I'm watching Warlock (1989) right now and I forgot how silly and fun it is. Even if the game makes it back up by 9:00 pm on the dot, I doubt I'll wanna play that late. So... I'll likely see ya'll tomorrow at some point (on Shadowdale).

Yeah the diverse build options are crazy, i especially like the different movement options to make you move much faster, the melee is not quite as diverse as ddo but what it lacks in the diversity it makes up in speed m, i am finding in DDO even the melee is starting to feel sluggish, but nothing in comparison to heroic repeaters or bows.

Been doing some Schedule 1 for giggles. It seems to slow right down when I get over a million dollar worth. All my money goes to making more "product".

I'm going to hit 50 soon enough, so I also can't quite keep up with the younger crowd. It's why I prefer to have a steady group, or even 1 other player to play with regularly. But it's not a real PVP game so it doesn't bother me as much. When I was playing Black Desert or New World I had to plan my builds and playstyle around the fact that I'm just not as twitchy as the people I'm fighting, so I usually played a bit more defensive to slow the fights down.

Been playing World of Tanks, still enjoying it, not too bad for a 15 yr old game.
I enjoyed that and World of Warships for a good long time. I still jump into Warships now and then. Those were games where planning and tactics would win over being twitchy. But holding onto land became a chore after a while. Fighting every single night in multiple battles does not work great with a wife and young kids.

Do you think thats why they keep slowing down everything in DDO, to make it more suited for a demographic versus actually making it have some sort of skill. I just feel like DDO keeps getting closer and closer to a turn based system or 3.5 pen and paper, i mean i believe a combat turn was equal to 6 seconds and i believe a melee could move and attack once in that 6 seconds. Certainly our attack speeds for early level characters are still faster than that but it is a video game version, how much slower can they make it?

Been alternating between Eve, Elite and TitanQuest2 for the past couple of weeks.
Quite impressive how Eve can manage ~30,000 concurrent players on a single shard, with no sign of any lag-like effects.
