PLEASE reconsider the ViP lock on Cormyr server

If you keep it ViP only, you'll kill the server.
As it stands, chainmail will go from 200 accounts to 45-50. Death Smile and Pay it Forward will suffer huge hits as well.

People have invested lots of real life money on Cormyr. By NOT changing the ViP lockout we'll lose that investment.
If that happens, you'll lose a good % of total population game-wide.
I for one would drop ViP. And I'M NOT ALONE

the point of the server is to be vip, it was said it would be vip from the start, and you are asking for the whole reason behind the server existing to be removed? the server is gonna die after the event ends whether its vip or not. its the same as HC league in the sense that guildmasters waste money on a ship they cant use after the season ends (in this case it doesn't go away and can be used for the next event, but cormyr is going to die a horrible death once the current event ends)

Wrong

SSG won't have valid data on how many people want or don't want a VIP only server until the event is over and they reactivate VIP only requirement. Right now, any data is skewed by the event.

Cormyr is a perk for VIPs so keep it as VIP only.

no it's not.

Rabidfox I agree. but when that data is compiled it will be too late. This HAS to be considered BEFORE the event ends.

It doesn't actually. I would be surprised if they were proactive in this regard. It makes sense to me to wait n'see (I rhymed). :p

We shall see if Cormyr is VIP sustainable...

At the moment, there's no indication for a brand-new player that Cormyr is supposed to be VIP-only. On starting the launcher, Cormyr is listed just like all the other servers as available to choose.

Imagine joining DDO, choosing Cormyr, playing for a month or so, only to suddenly find your access is now restricted because the server went back to VIP.

You have three options:
A) Become a VIP for this new game you've only just started playing.
B) Start all over again on a new F2P server.
C) Leave.

I wonder how many new players will say "Stuff this!" and choose option C?

False assumption. CORMYR is not and probably never will be the default server so people "new" to DDO won't automatically join it. If they read the forums about Cormyr without also seeing the restrictions, then that is on them.

Option:
D) add "VIP Only" after Cormyr on launcher when it closes to nonVIPs.

They don't have to automatically join it as the default server, they just have to read the list of server names and choose that one, for whatever reason, over the next month or so.

As much as I do sympathize with your situation, SSG did say it was for a limited access time only.
  • First mentioned in September 2024. DDO Forums
  • First Lamannia stress test DDO Forums
  • Live for VIP: October 23, 2024, 1 PM Eastern
  • Open for all: January 22 to April 15, 2025.

They said from the start, and multiple times afterwards, it was a limited event. This should surprise noone. If people have invested time
and money into a server buying Ships, etc, with no plans to VIP for, and invited the same temporary members into a guild, there's not a
single foot to stand on when the freebie ends.. [Yer Honor, I didn't know I had to KEEP paying rent after I moved in...!!] ...../Hauled off....

Saying "I'll drop my sub!" to SSG is like threatening a cannibal by pouring BBQ sauce on yourself. You'll get a look of mild amusement.

I called you a kiddo, because that's what your acting like. Zavina did a wonderful job of detailing all of the times they listed the server as VIP only. You knew the rules when you came here. You should have been well aware that most people would be treating this as an EVENT ONLY server. (Most of us more advanced players knew this). Therefore, you should not be shocked by a mass migration or a reversion to VIP only. Instead, you choose to come here and whine about it. Not just once, but numerous times now. Your acting like a petulant child who is complaining that the rules as written shouldnt apply as written. I got news for ya. Its falling on deaf ears. Rather then focus on those leaving, why not focus on building a guild people want to be apart of? Then those people would want to become VIP to stay with you.

VIP is less than a lunch out each month. If Cormyr is that important to you, then subscribe. If you think the price is too much, then you need to be leveling up your life instead of a video game character.
like how you allow me in and then pick my pocket ... lol its ok though its not that important to me. my level none character "endofdays" can fade away. its really a bad attitude to have but if you want a private solo server you can suck the resources from everyone else with sure .

My mans acting as if ssg gave u the first shot of Heroin for free so u get addicted and buy tons later

It would be helpful to have some clarity about Cormyr and the new 64-bit servers. Will the new 64-bit servers be VIP only? And if not, why is Cormyr returning to VIP only in April?

I have friends who won't play on Cormyr because they're non-VIP and will lose access to their characters in April when Cormyr returns to VIP only.
The new ones aren't intended to be VIP only, they're for everybody. There's a few other details to go through about Cormyr so stay tuned for more info on the particulars around that
These are quotes from the producer letter post a month ago. During the chat with the Dev event on Cormyr a couple months ago they mentioned the possibility of allowing transfers to/from Cormyr at some point in the future after the 64 bit servers are up. Cormyr might not be a 'fresh start server' forever and might become a normal 64bit server with full transfers in and out.

I don't think they have plans set in stone for the future of Cormyr just yet. Which is an issue because people won't invest any time in the server with this much uncertainty.

Over the last month I've grouped with at least a dozen players on Cormyr who just returned to the game after a long break and didn't know the server was probably going back to VIP only in April. They left cause of the lag on the 32 bit servers and I doubt they'll return to the older servers if they get locked out of Cormyr in April.
