Please stop punishing me for not logging in.

I pay for a yearly subscription, take long breaks, and every time I come back to missing some massive benefit that is locked behind a time gated code.
This time, I'm missing out on 100 free account slots; but what makes it worse is you didn't even make them available for purchase.
I would gladly pay money for the 100 slots, but just flat out losing access to them forever because I didn't log in a time gated period when I am ACTIVELY PAYING FOR A SUBSCRIPTION feels really bad.

Please sell me the 100 slots.

Its a game trying to get you interacting with it regularly with FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). It would be great if games didnt do this, but they do and probably always will.

Nope they wont, because this was just purely Situational at least.

huh? thats exactly how FOMO operates. something (100 account slots, blue 'dragon' wings, etc.) is only available for a limited time, and in order to claim it, you have to interact with the game.

The entire idea is to have people interact with the game and maybe they will decide to play and not just log in to grab the reward, and if they play, they might feel they are leveling too slowly or its taking too long to get the right piece of gear, and so they spend money on points to get xp pots, or astral shards or, or, or.

its an actual business strat, please look it up.

Agree with nicholas. They never wanted to give us the slots. I have spent more money on inventory/bank space than any other single item in the store. They wanted to sell it, but the transition to 64 servers was awful.
The switch did not go as planned and they gave us the banks space as a temporary stop-gap to empty TR caches.
I hope they would offer it in the store for those on break though.

*I always get upset when something is being given away or on sale and then, when I get there, the giveaway/sale is over...How DARE they do that. If someone got something at a certain, or no, price 6 months ago, I demand that you give it to me for the same price today!!!

The business strategy of then not selling it? The OP asked to buy it. Even if something was fomo free a year ago you can still sell it later.

That isn't anything near what I said.

They're not punishing you for not logging in; they're rewarding the rest of us for logging in. Both statements are true, but how you look at it shapes things.
Losing out on 1/3 of max inventory size which would let me drop 2-3 mules that exist for no reason other than to clutter my experience with laggy logins/outs is absolutely punishment.

Heck, I would be willing to pay what most would consider an obscene price for a few hundred more shared bank slots.

Do you feel like this is an honest representation of his post?

FOMO for DDO is a weird strategy; it rather assumes the game has a much greater importance in people's lives than is present in reality.

Yeah, it's really sleazy when paid features are gated on logins, but it's just not fun elevating a game into the FOMO-sphere. And, if a game feature is not fun, it's not worth pursing. Fun is the entire point of a game.

Yes, that is EXACTLY fomo. is it a good idea? I dont think so, but it IS a strat.

Your either stay a slave/addict to logging in every so often, or you miss out. As Bjond said a little higher, its a strange strat for ddo to employ based on how important it is, but ever since they added daily/weekly dice, they have used it. sometimes better, sometimes worse

Agree. I empathize and even sympathize with mechanics to encourage logins so we have people to play with but it goes too far messing with VIPs, turning VIP into something that imparts a feeling of missing out when you don't log in.

Here's a worthwhile VIP: codes never time out, normally time-limited vendors stay up. You're paying to never miss out and log in on your time because, well, it's your dime.

SSG will never do it. They lack confidence. FOMO mirrors their own fears. When you know your product is valued, you don't even consider FOMO as a marketing strategy.
