PN laser guide

Maker of Builds
Having done the laser for PN almost every run for years, it dawned on me how few people actually understand how it works. Because of this, I have decided to make a guide so anyone can laser. I hope this helps!

What Should I Play?
Laser monkey does not need a set role, but do know you will spend the whole raid by the laser control panel. This means if you want to help the group besides the laser you will want to be a buff toon or a ranged. a ranged can dps the bosses from a distance, and a buffer obviously buffs. just remember not to grab aggro of bosses!

What Should I Bring?
you do not need anything for lasering this raid if you run hard or below. I have lasered this raid with 28 hp on an arti infusion bot. if you do elite+ i highly recommend a heart of suulemades for the curse immunity because elite+ PN will kill you if you dont remove the curse. yes, you can get by with pots, but having immunity will prevent mistakes. you cannot die as if you do the raid might fail.

Layout
PN has a set layout, and it is the same everytime. here are some pics of the layout

this is the loaction of the discharge platform. to discharge the laser, you MUST have the laser over this

this is the location of the laser control panel. this is where you will eat sleep and live during the raid (hopefully)

these are the 2 puzzles by the laser platform. these 2 puzzles are solely your responsibility

there are puzzles in the 3 other corners. their solution does not matter as you will turn all 4 puzzles off (more on that later)

this is the location of the unsolved puzzle panel. this panel will tell you if puzzles are solved incorrectly (more on that later) as well as which puzzle is unsolved.

this is my recommended tanking spot. if you are the tank, park rudus/gish here and kill them here

Puzzles - Explained
Many people think that all the puzzles in PN need to be solved. this is not true. only the puzzles by the laser platform need to be solved, others just turn them completely off. here is how to solve the puzzles
3cIHype.jpeg
left puzzle

iaUNZgL.png
right puzzle (ignore my bad editing skills)
all the puzzles in this raid have the same premise: turn on the outside and turn off the inside. turning on the inside lights progress's the raid failure. Here are the pics of the various puzzles (from the wiki)
ofD8Duz.png

we only care about solving NW puzzles, but it is nice to know.
As bosses die, a different corner puzzle will become unlit. the order of killing bosses should be Rudus Gish Irk Zulk because of this (correct me if im wrong on this) the left puzzle by the laser control panel must be solved to light up the right one. when both are lit, the laser will be power. when the laser is powered it looks like this
VEYGcL3.jpeg

notice the tiles on the right and left of the control panel are lit. when these are lit, you can control and shoot the laser.

Part 1: Entering
when you step in the raid, do not step in first. step in towards the back of your group. you do not want to die as the laserer. when you get to the control panel, solve the 2 puzzles and kill the constructors. throughout the raid it will be your job to kill the constructors that spawn on your puzzles. if you are a ranged toon, you can kill the constructors at the other puzzles. the constrcutors unsolve the puzzles, so make sure to fix the puzzles after you kill the constructors. Once everything is settled in, use the control panel to aim the laser above where the tank is tanking the bosses. the control panel has 5 buttons. left, right, up, and down are self-explanatory: they move the laser (its on the ceiling) in that direction. the middle button fires the laser. dont press it too early as it has a cooldown!

here is the array of ceiling panels:

The laser can ONLY move along those tracks. this means it is important for bosses to be tanked UNDER one of these tiles, otherwise the laser cannot hit them. also, the tile nearest the control panel is the ONLY tile you can discharge the laser. more on that later.

Part 2: Rudus and Gish
now that I have you set up, its time to talk about the meat of lasering: shooting the laser. when you have the laser powered and over a boss, you must wait till the boss is dead. when the boss dies, you have about 5 seconds to shoot the laser to kill them. if you do not kill them in 5 seconds, they will be ressurected with max health. if you miss your window, it could be YOUR fault for the raid being harder. sometimes party members dont stop dps or whatever. remember, the entire raid revolves around you. you are the one calling the shots. if the party leader says otherwise, drop group. they are wrong. the entire group is counting on you, so act as such. tell the party when laser is ready (voice chat helps) and tell them when to drop a boss. this applies to every boss. when a boss is dropped, shoot the laser ASAP to kill them for good. if you do this correctly, the laser will turn a different color (green for rudus, blue for gish, white for irk, and red for zulkis) and that will be the element you have to discharge. to discharge, bring the laser back to the tile closest to the laser and shoot the laser when a dps is on the platform. the laser will discharge the element and give a colored circle around their feet to tell them which battery to do. up to 3 people will receive the circle at their feet, but it is random so i'd recommend only dps characters on the platform. when they go into the teleport location for their colored battery, they will fight a boss to disable the battery. with 4 bosses, there is 4 batteries and every single one needs to be done. All the batteries feature an elemental boss with deadly circles, but that doesnt matter to you. you still have more bosses to kill. After rudus is dead, tell all ranged and caster dps to "prep" irk. irk is flying around on his solar sled at this point. dont kill irk, just get him low on hp. this will allow you to do the skip (more below). Once irk is prepped, repeat the exact same steps for gish. at this point 2 bosses should be dead and you have the blue element in the laser. now comes the fun part...

Part 3: The Skip
up to this point in the raid, anytime you kill a boss quaspial will resurrect them if you take too long. However, when he starts yapping with the emissary, he stops paying attention. for the about 1 minute of time quaspial is blabbering, he stops raising the bosses. this is why you should have prepped irk earlier. now its a race against time. Quickly get a dps on main platform, discharge laser, and get ranged dps to kill irk. it doesnt matter where irk is, just kill him. Then, move the laser over to his corpse and fire. you should have plenty of time. now that irk is dead, you can discharge the laser at any time. if you are really good, you can prep irk AND zulkis and kill them both using the skip method. it is difficult and requires good group coordination, but it is possible.

Part 4: Zulkis
now that you have 3 bosses dead, all that is left is zulkis. zulkis will teleport if anybody melees him, so dont do that. only ranged/casters should dps him for this reason. zulkis also does not like to move, so the tank should park him in a spot under a laser tile. if he wont budge, hide behind a pillar and he will move towards you. once zulkis is in position, kill him exactly the same way as all the other bosses. Remember, you should still be killing constructors and solving the puzzles up to this point. once zulkis is dead and lasered, discharge the laser just as before. at this point all 4 batteries should be done. if they are not...

Part 4.1: Average Bad Pug
if people are dead in an uncleared battery, there is a console on the control panel that will be quite useful.
K2XGRgo.jpeg

this panel allows you to recall an element. if party members are dead in a battery, click the element you need to recall. just make sure not to recall too early as recalling an element kicks everybody out, dead or alive. it takes about 30 seconds to recall an element, but when you do you can discharge it as per usual. you can only recall elements of bosses you have already killed.

Part 5: Finale
now that all bosses and batteries are done, you can stop killing constructors and solving puzzles. it is a waste of time. when the 5 bosses attack again, you are free to do what a normal person does. the laserer at this point is just another party member, so your responsibilities are lifted

Conclusion
lasering is not for everyone. it is hard to master, stressful, and very important. the whole raid is counting on you. 1 mistake and you have a bad reputation. doing the laser is not just a skill, it is an artform. you must adapt your style to the things people do in your group. mastering the laser will take awhile, but when you get as good as i am you have random people begging you to laser their raid. and plus, who doesnt love a free pike?

Here are a couple fine points:

Laser Worker: go into options and turn "Combat takes precedence" OFF. If you don't do this, when you try to click the console buttons, you will instead attack.

Others: stay far FAR away from the laser console. The console worker does NOT need your emotional support. Your character will intercept mouse clicks meant to move or fire the laser. The laser worker ends up clicking you instead of the button.

Laser Work-around: so, there's someone ignoring tells and dancing all over the console and you can't mouse click on the buttons. You can tab-target them and key click them instead. It's a bit slow to move the laser this way, but it's fine for firing. The only issue here is that it's hard to see WHEN to fire because you can't have both mini-boss and button hard-targeted at the same time.

Elemental Killing: the air elemental (white ring, Irk's unlock) can be annoying for non-ranged characters to kill. We often try to ensure a ranged DPS gets the unlock for air.

Acquiring the unlock buff: the last character to step on the laser-buff platform will get the unlock. More unlocks are then scattered randomly across the raiders. If you care who gets an unlock, you can use this to ensure ONE particular character gets it. IMHO, Air is the only one worth the effort.

Very nice. One quick correction/clarification about who gets the energy... yes it is 3 people, however, one person does not have to be random. Whoever is directly under the laser when it releases the energy, so long as NO ONE ELSE in on or near the platform where you release, will be guaranteed to get the energy, and the other 2 will be random. If anyone else stands on the platform / too close, then it will be completely random which 3 get it.

Thus you can guarantee one specific strong DPS character (and one strong ranged DPS for air) gets to go into the elemental batteries.

It's the last person to step on the platform. We used to use the "there can be only one" method until we figured out it's the last one. Now we can let puglets crowd the platform at will and then have the smart strong ranged character step in last just before zap. (Can be hard to herd squealing puglets)

heh, that sounds like a painful headache to coordinate.

Please note that not every group does the bosses in the same order, and you need to listen to the order given by the group you've joined.
Phoenix Clan (my guild) on Orien usually does the bosses in this order: Rudus, Zulkis, Irk, Gish. And because of this we've used the NE puzzle (Gish' puzzle) to power the laser, while turning the rest off.

Also important to note that Gish' attacks tend to kill the laser person if he's tanked on the platform in front of the laser, so we don't tank him there.

If anyone is interested, I did a blog a few years ago about how the runes are connected to the color circles: https://mickisdelirium.wordpress.com/2019/08/13/project-nemesis-figuring-out-the-mechanics/

Another point, you need to have a person without a color circle on the platforn when you fire the laser to release the color, or the color will not go away from the laser. It will give ppl a color, but you can't absorb another element until you're able to release the color.

This isnt entirely true While this is the preffered way
in Unlucky situations such as Gish doing 3 backflips Just within his dying animation or Zulkis being stuck/ignoring intims
u can try to have the Laser Move from A to B while firing if They are inbetween those Points
now that I have you set up, its time to talk about the meat of lasering: shooting the laser. when you have the laser powered and over a boss, you must wait till the boss is dead. when the boss dies,
Unfortunately this isnt entirely correct While I would recommend to wait for the Kill to Lazer if u are a newbie at Lazering
Prefiring is an option especially if u can control it by Having Hunts end or simmilar Burst spells to directly influence an instant Kill after firing
prefiring is partially even mandatory because :

you have about 5 seconds to shoot the laser to kill them. if you do not kill them in 5 seconds, they will be ressurected with max health. if you miss your window, it could be YOUR fault for the raid being harder. sometimes party members dont stop dps or whatever. remember, the entire raid
I cant confirm the 5 seconds but we all know that Sometimes the game isnt consistent/the lag messes up the consistency and in the Blink of an eye they have the barrier and u gotta repeat

In general a great Guide that will hopefully improve Pugs Ive seen peope randomly shutting down the entire Puzzle far too often
I just wanted to give my 2 cents of "advanced" mechanics that u might need IF lag hits the fan or u are in a 9minutes r1 group that has way toooooo Much dps (10 Melees 1 Healer/tank and you :D) and Melts rudus down in sub 10 seconds without Tstop (bruh) in which case u defo need the Inbetween Lazering they didnt care about Zulkis being akwardly placed XD

Also u can Pillar tank IRK while lazering but its definetly Not the least stressful way ask someone to take care of that rat

It is good to refresh this once in a while.
Here is an older guide for download. On some points it is more detailed and not as strict as "drop group". This can be done just fine in cooperation

2 things I'd like to add.
1) Moving animation: If you know your way around the laser grid or can foresee how many moves you still need, you can click the control buttons earlier than the animation is finished. This way the laser moves more smoothly and doesn't stop after each step.
2) Depending in which modus you play, you might want to try to unlock your mouse if you want to click on the control panel. It might be easier to reach the right buttons.

5 seconds is a bit long, isn't it? I try to remember to check it next time.

Cheers,
Titus

Tbh its sometimes a gamble depending on the Lag I try to assume roughly a ratio of 1:3.5ish when it lags bad

---> I might spam the button roughly 15 Times if i wanna move it 4-5 steps
