I just tried both installer versions on my end. The first one gave the "better version", the 2nd installer I also gave you a link to simply installed all the dx9 library files without issue. This is the version that just overwrites any exising DX9 files (incase something was corrupted with your old library files) https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Edit: with this version you download a file. Running it will extract the files to a local folder. Go to that folder and run the installer in there and it'll replace any old DX9 libraries.
ok I will try this then but not tonight its getting too late to still be fiddling with all this hassle to get the game to run correctly. It's like they don't want people to play the game if you need to do all this to actually make it work.

Yup, DX9 library issues with people running windows 10 or 11 comes up frequently when helping people on discord. It would be nice if was easier, especially since Microsoft likes to make hard on people too. Let us know how if that helped any whenever you have to time to mess with it.

We are going to buy hardwires, and yes I am on 32bit everything else everyone has mentioned I had already done before the lag happened. Again its not always just happens randomly. My husband was not having any lag during the time I was. Our router is less than 2 years old and it was brand new when we got it. Even Cordovan agreed with me that this super lag is a weird case with everything I've done to reduce lag and my computer and hardware is all correct and should have no issues running ddo. So after doing a few more little tweaks with my graphics card and buying cables for our router I will have done everything everyone has suggested. Next step is continue playing and recording to see if I get it again. Which I believe it will as it is a random thing that has happened to my husband and other players in our guild who live all over the country and some in other countries.

I've gone to dx 10, so far it's working for me. Dx 9 and 11 no longer seem to work for 64 bit, at least for me. Probably going to switch back to 32 bit so far as the client, had a lot fewer issues with that one in the past.

Just an odd thought, you might also want to check your Windows update history to see if it did any updates that correspond with the same time period of u59. Just in case Windows did a patch that's not playing nice. I doubt it's that, but just another thing to checkoff the list of possible things going sideways.

this the DirectX enduser runtimes I used to build a Win7 with Simplix update pack
it's a .WA package meant to be integrated along vc_redist & .NET framework 4.8 and it's working very fine.

Beware also that the graphic device listed by DDO launcher may be influenced by the way you declare a specific 3D-device to a specific program (DDO launcher/client 32 or 64 bit in this case) if you have 2 or more 3D-devices.

Ok I will try this too. Just ran 5 raids tonight KT, FOTP and Hunt were pretty laggy Dryad, HOX were not. Order of play: 1. KT, Dryad, Hunt, FOTP, HOX. I never switched toons. No crashes but lag occured in the 1st, third and fourth raids. It wasn't SUPER lag this time around but random BAD lag during the raid from time to time. If monster pathing is huge issue then I am thinking that having mounts in wilderness areas is definitely contributing to this and if they really want to fix this then they need to remove monster pathing from wilderness areas or reduce its AOE/duration.

Your connection was green the whole time. Your video card however was being crushed and couldn't handle things (lighting strikes will reduce FPS for people like that but your FPS was hit hard). It may be related to whatever is preventing you from running in DX9 mode; drivers or something system level going on. And/or your graphics settings are turned up too high.

Thank you I will look into this, but for the whole group to experience with not my issues I really think something else is also going on.

Of course they did. Like I said, lightning strikes like that tend to cause issues for people (they're a system intense effect). You personally seem to be hit super hard by them. I don't know the other's system specs nor extent of they were effected by it. Lightning strikes like that causing FPS drops/stuttering aren't new with u59, that's been an issue for as long as I can remember. Your dropping to 3fps however is extreme.

If one scours enough recordings of DDO then one can find a point of data to claim anything; lag, slow downs, stuttering all happen to anyone from time to time and certain effects like the ones in this video will cause problems for people. The second I saw the lightning going off I knew your FPS was going drop because it's an entirely common thing in DDO. So your party having drops in FPS/stuttering is fully expected. The big question is why your personal FPS drops are so bad and how to best deal with it.

Tell me this though why should I have to Run in DX9 when I have a better version? The fact that everyone is saying you need a lesser version of something your computer is currently equipped with seems pretty backwards to me. And it seems that SSG's needs to get with the times and work on the game/servers and not make players use old OUTDATED versions.

Like the OP, I experienced a joyful virtually lag free experience for 2 days following U59. However, since the 'fix' the game in now literally unplayable. It takes 10+ minutes to walk across a public zone, such as the Market Place or Eveningstar. This is due to 'constant' freezing and 'elastic banding' back to the previous. On the every rare occasion I can actually zone, I can spend over a minutes swinging at a mob with no hits connecting; and still face the same freezes and elastic banding.

This applies running on both 32 bit and 64 bit client. Running Directx12, so possibly that is an issue?

One thing that comes to mind is the game engine may call dx9 commands that no longer exist in higher versions.

With the spaghetti code that exists in DDO it's entirely possible some command got missed during an update somewhere along the way and only get called very rarely. . .
