Producers Letter?

It's a producer letter, not an essay, how freaking long does it take them to write one? Why does it require multiple days? How is it "moving along nicely"??

Do they even have plans? Just asking because if a plan is already decided, I can't fathom how it rakes more than a day to write the roadmap complete with editing and picture for teasers. At this point I would genuinely pay money to see how the hell they work.
A day? If they have a plan writing a short letter is less than a hour, including the picture

We are?

Well, if someone wants to get boohooey over a game that seems to be crafting its own demise, feel free. But I wouldn't say that's going to be all of us.

If you like playing DDO odds are pretty good you'll miss it when it's gone because there's nothing quite like it out there in terms of Lego-ability of characters.

If you don't like playing DDO why are you still here?

No offense intended but I see a lot of people on the boards who seem to be suffering while they are playing DDO. That just makes no sense to me.

DDO is not the tarbaby but a lot of us seem to have the outlook of Brer Rabbit.

It'd be nice to see that they had finally managed to get player housing sorted. LOTRO has just had a new neighborhood installed. Hell, I'm even getting adverts from WOW saying they have player housing lol.
I don't think we will ever see player housing. Where would you even put them?, wilderness areas?

They do not even have someone that knows how to update Cannith crafting and random loot to lvl 34, what makes you think they have someone that can create player housing?

In essence, you could have a door in any of the public zones that leads you to a separate locale.

So, House Jorasco has a doorway that leads into Jorasco Heights, a number of residential houses... Myth Drannor has another doorway, into the "Elven Skylight". Acquire a residential property with 8 hook points, and 2 storage chests that overlook the ancient areas..

And so on. The places to build are technically limitless, just depends on the decorative viewpoint inc expansion access (if necessary).

Two things can be true at the same time without being exclusionary. I mean life is filled with trade offs and liking that which also causes suffering, pain, or even just unhappiness.

From very early on in my playing this game I have both loved and hated it. I love it for many things including what it did (and does) right. I hate the missed opportunities, questionable decisions, and areas where it falls short. Because it's good, but could've been amazing.

My playing reflects this. I have quit and come back numerous times since 2010. Even deleted my characters and then had them undeleted.

It is fun. It's the game we have. How much longer? Who knows. I will miss it when it's gone. No other game has been able to sustain my interest.

As DBZ eloquently explained, it's fiscally irresponsible. They COULD aggressively monetize a new aspect of the game OR.....

...Thy could just release a couple more coffers for 80 bucks each. Pretty sure the amount of work required for coughing up a few cosmetics is way less intensive than implementing a housing system. We have airships, it will probably be another 30/40 updates before get they touched again anyway (if ever).

I don't see SSG committing to such efforts honestly. Hell, they can't post a roadmap...

EDIT
I know you mean hook points for cosmetic furniture and the likes. I'm just metaphorically putting on a scale the effort for easy money for coffers and the one for housing while keeping in mind they still need to release their yearly expansion. I don't see houses happening in any way, shape or form. Not that I would mind them but the game has a desperate need for maintenance right now.

Housing tends to be done poorly. Zones for housing are not the same thing as owning a door key in the city or countryside. Living in a pre-constructed house that looks the same as all the other houses in it's class is as boring in a game as it is in real life.

EQ2 went overboard on housing and they're probably the only game that comes close to doing it right. This is because they put a lot of effort into the choices and locations available in that world. My experience with their housing was a decade ago so something may have changed but if I was looking to build a house it would be there. My dwarf mansion in LotRO was lost long ago because it didn't offer enough to maintain it.

We have a big day planned for today: Producer's Letter will go live shortly, and we seem likely to be able to open Lamannia with some but not all of our upcoming anniversary stuff, potentially around 5ish Eastern on Lamannia. Might be a good idea to fire up that Lamannia client and update it to more recent.
