you realize this guy is a first lifer with no gear

if you were in his shoes would you really take ruin gruin spend 250 sp to do like 2k damage

and now im going to be told it does way more when you have xyz gear
he doesnt have any of that. he probably has 500hp and 2k sp
he should take epic toughness and titans blood

I build the build so when he gears up, which will take time, it will still be effective and not take feat respecs

youre not speced for it as far as enhancements*, and not really for equipment either. its an afterthough
or do you guys actually have dual spell crit damage items for fire and force?
For a Fire Sorc you only need 3 spellpowers, Fire, Force, and Devotion.
For a Druid, you need more.

For devotion, you can make it a switch item though like https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Legendary_Malleable_Sceptre_of_Devotion
or https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Epic_Sceptre_of_Devotion

I come from the before times of element stripping. I always built for two or more spell powers

Builds are only part of the equation. @Epicsoul made great suggestions already.

You can have the best build, but if you don't gear for it then you won't be able to perform well with it. Nukers care about four things:

Spellpower
Spell Critical Chance
Spell Critical Damage
DCs (saving throws vs. your spells)

The higher those bonuses, the more damage you do. The more damage you do, the less you'll run out of mana or be able to do higher difficulty content.

Fire sorcs have great spell selection. Meteor Swarm is your bread and butter. Delayed Blast Fireball ain't bad either. You want to focus on Force (Impulse) and Fire (Combustion). If you didn't know, the blunt damage from Meteor Swarm is increased by Force.

Don't worry about trying to crowbar in Devotion for healing. You aren't going to be a primary healer. At best you'll have Rejuvenating Cocoon from Primal Avatar or maybe Mass Cure Moderate from Exalted Angel.

Spellpower, Spell Critical Chance, Spell Critical Damage and Caster DCs can be found individually on items as well as part of set bonuses. You'll need to take some time looking through the expansions you have access to for the gear with the highest combined bonuses.

As far as gear and access to it I currently have access to ViP, Ravenloft Shadowfell, Feydark and Underdark and of course FTP. I will update her current gear at lvl 22 in the builder or as much of it as is in the builder. All her slots are geared just some is not in the builder also have named item for 23. Also considering switching out The Eldritch knight points and putting them in Feydark Illusionist now that I have access to that tree. Just got finished running the borderlands quests today on R1 with a group.

Here is the proposed ideal for FI:

Enhancements: 80 APs

Feydark Illusionist - Points spent: 26
Core1 Find Familiar: White Cat
Tier1 Familiar's Flourish I
Tier1 Study the Arcane - 3 Ranks
Tier1 Feydark Explorer - 2 Ranks
Tier1 Illusory Weaponry
Core2 Ability I: Charisma
Tier2 You've Got My Back
Tier2 Bend Light
Tier2 Shadowblade - 3 Ranks
Core3 Greater Color Spray
Tier3 Ability I: Charisma
Core4 Ability II: Charisma
Tier4 Ability II: Charisma

Not sure about the Shadowblades since I get a boost to my spell casting from my staff Maybe if I'm stuck to meleing at some point during a dungeon crawl.

not a lot of those make sense... if your not meleeing
Not sure where I was going with it either. saw some boost to defense but was an alternate idea. Can still just stick with Eldritch Knight. Perhaps find a use for that tree on another character.

Not a lot has really changed for sorcs in years. Plenty of solid builds to follow.

I'm far from the most experienced, especially when it comes to end game but I have more than enough to give some advice and rationale for it in relation to the levelling experience. For a 1st lifer I would suggest the following:

1. Maximise
3. Empower
You are a first life sorcerer. You are squishy as hell so stuff needs to die asap. Max+Emp sla's (Burning hands + Acid spray) Acid for oozes too. No metamagics on non sla's. Web and sonic blast help with cc.

6. SF: Evocation
You lack gear and past lives so you need to boost DC's to mitigate half damage on monster reflex saves.

9. Enlarge
I personally consider Enlarge mandatory. If you can kill stuff from further away then do so. You're helping with your survivability. Note the you can pick up Enlarge from core 5 of FI (31 AP's) and T4 of Fatesinger. These are both later (much later) in the levelling journey though. Investing that much in FI also comes at the expense of picking up defences and hit points in EK.

12. GSF: Evocation
You lack gear and past lives so you need to boost DC's to mitigate half damage on monster reflex saves.

15. Heighten
You lack gear and past lives so you need to boost DC's.

18. Quicken
This is for the spell Meteor Swarm cos it's sooooo slow to cast. This will be your bread and butter damage spell.

As you progress with past lives, gear and reaper points you'll be able to offset some of the above with other choices. Mental Toughness and Improved Mental Toughness instead of the evocation feats for the spell crit chance. It's been years since I was a low level anything so someone might say these help with SP management too (YMMV). Possibly replace enlarge too and pick up arcane initiate (see above for other sources of Enlarge).

The best sorcs have so much killing power that the question becomes 'How do I complete this quest asap' (actually that's95% of the player base). The answer is usually movement speed boost from the falconry tree (and any other sources that give a speed boost... rallying cry, eladrin / chaosmancer past lives, wings)

Enhancements (minimum):
41 Fire Savant (Core 6 and T5)
11 Feydark Illusionist (for Greater Colour Spray. Excellent SLA)
21 Eldritch Knight (Core 4)
6 Falconry (Sprint Boost ..... mainly for those 'damn I need to run away asap moments')
79 Total so 1 AP to spend. More if you've got AP tomes

There are arguments for and against tweaking FI and EK trees. T5 EK is +5% stacking incorporeality and deflect arrows triggers every 2 seconds instead of 6. Archers can be a pain in the back side. This means no GCS though

Plenty of great advice previously in this thread but thought I'd make myself a target add my two pence.

Thanks for the input. Her gear has gotten better with more upgrades in the bank she's 25 now so passed all the heroic stuff and working the epic tree. She seems to be a real powerhouse. I don't use as much sp as I'm relying heavily on SLPs Fireball being her mainstay but I'll check into switching Meteor storm in her rotation. Also have lightning strike which I keep handy for those fire immune guys. Otherwise I've been happy with the build so far.
