Question regarding red names and fortification bypass

Hey guys,

I have 100% critical resistance from Pale Master shroud, and I was feeling safe, but today I got critically hit by a red named boss (specifically the boss griffon from Another's Man Treasure). I was playing this quests on Epic Reaper 1 difficulty.

So, why exactly this red name can bypass fortification? Can all red names do this? This depends on difficulty?
And in this case, worth getting more fortification items to go above 100%? I mean, is this kind of boss only able to partially bypass fortification or can it completely ignore fortification (in which case there's nothing I can do anyway)?

well basically its allways your fort -enemy fort bypass = chance u get crit and red names especially from newer quest tend to have some fort bypass dont ask me about the exact values tho :p u gotta test it out if I were to guess 150 should be defo enuf maybe 125 suffice to be crit immune also keep in mind that some enemies have sunder ish debuffs OR are champs with natural fort bypass same goes for reapers?

iirc any mob that the devs have coded as rogue has fort bypass = cr level.

not sure why griffins are rogues.... but... ya

i have gotten critted on my tank with i think 190ish fort

and there are some champs that simply bypass fort and you just need to wave good bye if they crit you.

I think its more about griffins being red names than rogues in this case

My experience suggests the only way to deal with griffons as a caster is hit them, then DD before they hit you, then return etc etc until they're dead.

Alternatively go in with a tank so when they hit you, you don;t lose 500+HP per hit

I had epic armor (so my armor was ~AC80), displacement, blur and they still killed my wizard with 3 hits
skill issue?

80 ac in epics? and you think thats good? bless your heart

displacement and blur are same type

to clarify my lock life was 250 ac 210 prr 190 fort with 12% dodge.

not a tank by any means but well able to survive without ahem questionable tactics which you shouldnt be talking about

Yes!

The ideal is have 10% for each quest level.

Quoted from DDO Wiki
"In DDO, most players strive for roughly +10% fortification per level, with the most durable characters achieving +300% at level 30."

As explained for others, mob rogues seems to have fortification bypass equal their CRs, the thing is, on Reaper... besides the bypass, mobs tend to deal 30% more damage. So, any Red/Orange/Purple Boss will deal massive damage. So, strive for augment your Fortification beyond 100%

I'm running my Warlock with +300% Fort, 120 AC, 180 PRR and 130 MRR, 18% Dodge (Bio info, don't know if it is been capped by Medium Armor) yet, I'm critted sometimes by Named Bosses and Champions.

Mans thinking 80 AC in epics is viable when some have that by default at lv 10ish xd

yeah the griffons do be a bit tough but I dont see how they 3 shot u lol
I get 150 dmg in r1 (100Prr give or take)
I counted. Multiple times. If I'm lucky the wizard will survive the 3rd hit but I've learnt to DD out the moment the griffon kills the hire and looks at my character greedily. Sadly I can't use DD on the final part of Memory Lapse (something about jumping into the lion's den) so I need to be more creative
