Questions About This and That

I had no idea you can give your hirelings equipment. So...what happnes after that 1 hour expires? does the equipment disappear with them?

Besides...I've never seen a hireling drown either
(don't tell anyone, but hirelings can totally cast spells underwater. That's how I managed to do the Crucible swim before I got good at it :p)

The Shadar-kai clearly wasn't a hireling, and hirelings don't need to breathe anyway. Sophie just created an Iconic Hero and he was likely volunteering to do the drowning swimming.

Personally, I don't agree with that, but my perspective is to maximize XP per quest, not per unit of time. Also, you just never know if that one chest you decide to ignore is going to have a +4 Skill tome or a Curse Cleanser or a Major Mnemonic pot.

Reaper experience payouts are minuscule. My hope was that completing more quest objectives would increase the payout. This does not seem to happen even though some optional encounters are very dangerous. It does not make sense to me but ... DDO.

Playing three quests every day, I computed it will take me 8 years to reach 75 Reaper Points.

The crossbows are the only way.

*grumbles*

This is what I get for trying to learn all the sucky quests I normally skip. Stupid crab.

Gonna contract him to fight the dumb crab. Considering his appearance and hygiene, he is probably very familiar with crabs.

Don't forget that the payout on "Cap Quests" i.e. lv 30+ is double for first time bonus. From the Wiki "As a compensation measure for this change (as prior to Update 55, players at cap could get RXP from high-level Epic quests as well), legendary dungeons have double the base RXP of comparable heroic and epic dungeons."
That means you have to be lv 30 or higher when you run base level 30 or high quests (Legendary Quests). Also remember that there is no Heroic lockout at lv 20. (On my alts since they level so quick I end up running Twilight vale after an Epic TR and they normally net me 1k RXP per quest on R4, even on a first lifer.)

1. yes

2. hireling magic. I wonder if it's that thwarting that might additionally cause lag.

what are you talking about you cannot give your hirelings equipment. The closest you can give them is your dogs

Neck Tatoo figured out The Curse of the Captured Crustacean and explained it to me. (y) I am upgrading the quest from 'sucky' to 'no big deal'.

I also solved my pteronodon vertebrae issue. It turns out all Isle of Dread chests contain one dinosaur bone ingredient, determined at random. In addition, all wilderness chests contain tyrannosaurus teeth. There is no specific chest containing pteronodon vertebrae. However, one of the saga rewards is 25 pteronodon vertebrae. Thus, saga rewards solved my problem finding that one ingredient.

Most sagas contain one problem quest such that I cannot complete the story arc and gain the end reward. This weekend I learned how to skip one quest for 5 astral shards. That could help my cause in a major way.

Things are goin okay.

Don't forget that the payout on "Cap Quests" i.e. lv 30+ is double for first time bonus.

Thank you, Mornyngstar. Unfortunately, I do not have a character strong enough to complete a legendary quest on Reaper Mode 1. I found a window of opportunity for level 20 and 21 quests.

you cannot give your hirelings equipment

I most certainly can! After Neck Tatoo killed the giant crab that was troubling the people of Dread Isle, I even paid for the big silver ring he shoved through his nose.

When playing in Reaper Mode, is it best to avoid all optional encounters. go straight to the end, and get out?
Do what's fun. Sometimes I'll do every single optional or try for a hard optional, sometimes I just want to get it done and move on; eg. just managed to save every single farm hand without priestess noticing in Impossible Demands on this life, but usually I just get 10 kills and end it fast.
Is there an easy way to complete The Curse of the Captured Crustacean?
I usually leave a Kopru alive to prevent adds, work one lever, waste time until it rears for my unlocked lever, then shoot it. That fight is fairly annoying. Sometimes I use VIP to skip it, sometimes I use VIP to skip the temple; it's all whim-based -- no real reason for picking one or the other.

Is it correct that +Devotion and +Healing Amplification stack? My goal is to negate some of the Reaper Mode self healing penalty.
Yes. Devotion multiplies outgoing. Hamp multiplies incoming. They multiply each other when you self-heal. If a character has heals (even consecration counts), I'll make sure it has at least one devotion item; eg. Eye of Lamannia. I aim for 200<Hamp, but don't always get it.

I just redid my equipment again so that it now includes an artifact (dinosaur bone necklace). The new configuration has Devotion +153 (new) and a healing amplification augment +44/50/56(?). (I do not have enough level 32 augments and regularly use whatever is available.)

Remember though: healing amp works on any incoming healing, but spell power never affects spells copied by items, like scrolls or wands.
So Healing Amp will help with scroll healing, while Devotion will not.

Got it. My primary sources of self healing are Primal Avatar Rejuvenation Cocoon and Unyielding Sentinel Renewal. My Monk has Light-Light-Light-Finisher. My Paladins have Lay On Hands. Does Devotion boost those?

Works on all of those except Lay on Hands
It works on MOST things that aren't linked to items.
The 100 healing from Henshin Mystic's T5 doesn't get improved by Devotion, for example. Neither is Barbarian's Blood Strength or One Spirit.

Edit: Silly me misremembered stuff.
