Ranged dps during lag

Lag is never fun for anyway. In raids lag does reduce both melee and caster dps - but it is my experience that lag hurts the dps of ranged far more as their shots simply seem to disappear into the void. Most notably in (some) raids.

If that an experience you share? It pretty much keeps me from playing ranged atm even though I quite like ranged play.
If there is a trick so lag "only" hurts ranged as much as melee I would really love to hear about it.

Yes - lag been really bad last couple of weeks!

Been playing on and off for almost 2 decades but it "feels" bad at the moment...

Yes, I always have that, not only in raids. And it´s equally annoying for melee, ranged and spellcasters... Ranged attacks and spells often just disappear into thin air, and in melee, mobs often aren´t where they show on your screen when you activate abilities, so they sometimes also just miss.
But I feel it´s the worst for spellcasters because you still pay SP for those spells.

Presumably, more people are playing at the moment since it's bonus XP week, so the servers could be "overcrowded" (lol)

Expect the situation to fix itself after restart on Wednesday.

As for your question, yes, ranged seems the worst when there's lag around. Shots are just not connecting at all.
As I am on my caster life right now, at least when the spikes happen and you cast multiple spells, everything is frozen in time, and after couple of seconds all mobs around you are dead, since the spells all resolved. Opposed to ranged, where you usually just find your soulstone laying around.

I play 4 toons at cap/R10 all of them suffer from lag. The assassin rogue is left to assassinate empty space due to lag, when the mob appears there, but has really moved on. While I'm on the healer, I'm often wondering if the player I'm trying to heal is plagued or blocked, but no, standing right behind me, no plague but not receiving heals. Like the healer, the CC caster throws spells that never appear, timer goes off, resets. But I will agree, the one that makes me most irritated is the ranged ranger and all the arrows that just disappear.

The funny thing is, I am starting to readjust my playstyle back to the old Gland days, when we had heart stopping lag spikes lasting up to 30 seconds in combat at R10. Just got used to spamming mass heals on the barbarian and waiting for the server to sort it out at the end.

This is why I wished they had just toned down the old Hunts End numbers. I will say, when the game is not lagging the new ranged strikes connected better than I thought they would.

I've noticed plenty of ranged shots vanish over the years. I also watch all sorts of crazy lag these days on any character I'm on. Yesterday on my warlock, I'd cast hurl into hell on a mob... sometimes the spell would go on cooldown with no effect, sometimes the spell would instakill the mob and not go on cooldown, & sometimes it would even cast as expected. Today, I was seeing about 1 in 3 of my casts on tentacles and other stuff simple go poof while going on cooldown. Somedays, I play a bunch, other days I log off in frustration; I don't feel like my pew pew arti has things any better or worse than others in the grand scheme of things on the lag front.
