Rare loot is worst thing ever

Of all the brain dead things SSG has done, rare loot where on average you have less than a 1/1000 chance to get an item you want for a build, has to be the most stupid.

I get that they're doing a money grab on the rerolls, but this is beyond dumb. Playing the game should not be frustrating by design, but the devs don't seem to understand that as they put in unattainable loot, and design wilderness areas like a maze. I don't know anyone who likes maze like wilderness areas. Why do they do it?

Although, with their inability to fix lag sometimes you'll save yourself AS by lagging out of the game before hitting the re-roll button.

While I agree the rare item drop rate is a cruel joke, I don't mind a somewhat challenging wilderness areas. I'm curious which areas you're specifically calling out? I agree that Storm Horns are very confusing, especially getting to the last 2 quests in that chain. Maybe the most frustrating though is the Demonweb, as there doesn't always appear to be any path to a particular island.

You think the odds are actually that high in MD?

But yeah. I refuse to spend a single cent on this game until SSG publicly states they are ending the abusive mechanics of MD. They can leave MD alone and I'll just skip it forever. But if every new pack keeps doing this abusive crap I am never buying anything ever again.

As someone playing only when the server is dead I have to treat raid loot equal to how you treat rare loot. I hoped this debacle would create some understanding. Get rid of the rare loot table and drop runes in quests.

You're not likely to get it. There are several very long threads of almost uniform complaining about this stupid mechanics, and no acknowledgment from SSG that they've even noticed.

The absolute best thing you can possibly hope for is that just MAYBE SSG will quietly abandon the system on content going forward, without announcing it.

The problem is there's maybe 10 people who play DDO like a second job and thus have no problem getting everything they want. These people keep telling SSG that everything is ok. We need them to shut up so they'll listen to the other 99.99999% of the player base who feels screwed over by this garbage mechanic.

I have been trying to get the light armor out of Key to the Mythal. The armor is not even that good. I have been trying for more than a month. It is getting very very old.

I think there's also an element of "players can't stop logging in one month after buying the expac if we make stuff too rare to get in a month". They're making a lot of initiatives to keep players logging in regularly, including Year of the Dragon, Monthly VIP program, and now the episodic adventure pack.

Totally agreed that rare loot is awful though.

There's always a path to any location, but can be quite circuitous if you just try walking. Much better to jump off the side and use the 3 teleport destinations to navigate.

Its why I don't bother farming that stuff and try to avoid running unless a few friends desire it.

The DDO builder should probably have an option to filter out all the "rare" items. Between that asinine decision to make loot ultra rare, the lag, and other various frustrating designs, I can't see myself paying. I dropped VIP last year due to MD loot/lag frustration and I've no plans to ever buy content or pre-order content ever again due to getting screwed by SSG with the MD loot + lag.

Not all rare loot is good and not all good loot is rare.
A trail of obsolete items and gear follows the release of new content/expansion.
only a few niche items survive the progression of the game and Dev nerfs.

The intentional secret ninja change to significantly reduce drop rates is just another implementation that annoyed players.

Yeah. Its all pretty terrible. Unfortunately since stupid people keep buying $100 cosmetic mounts we're never going to see these decisions reveres.

Loot upgrade system like how the threats raid gear works is a much saner way to have long-grind stuff. First of all, use this kind of stuff to attract players to stuff we actually want people to help us do, like raids. Secondly, a system that lets us get base items fairly easy with a sanity release valve like runes is the way to go. And lastly, having a slower resource like Barrier Fragments for long run interest in upgrades is fine and helps keep content relevant. No extreme rare must-haves in worm caves folks!

10 people [...] other 99.99999%
If even 1 person was .00001% of the player base, SSG would be ecstatic.

10 people is more like .002% of the player base, which is also, coincidentally, the drop rate for MD rare items. (to be clear, that's meant to be a joke, I don't have the numbers either)

The problem with rerolling for rare loot is that the chance is still tiny, even if you spend money.

The problem if you haven't already noticed, is SSG has a raging nerd-***** for RNG that makes the Burg Khalifa look subtle.

SSG will never give us a system that doesn't rely on this, because they are too heavily invested in their bad system.
