Rare loot sucked most of the fun out of MD - don't ruin another expansion with this stupid mechanic

Everyone is always talking about the rare loot problem. But, who has ever even seen this so called rare loot? Certainly not me. How are we to believe there is a rare loot mechanic when I have never even seen said loot. Poppycock.

I did. +3 Necro DC is great and I wanted to get a crack at the PLs early since my family is out of town next week and I have my nights completely free.
Hi thankyou for answering.

I look forward to your analysis of the new expansion when the quests are released. I really hope the rare loot mechanic has gone away,

my latest conspiracy theory: SSG needed X amount of dollars in 2024 to pay for 64-bit server migrations and used rares to do finance it, knowing both the cost to player burnout and the benefit of money. they are using pre-sales to gauge the impact to the player and ultimately set the final direction for Chill rares. however, they always knew the cost of player burnout was too much and they intended to roll it back to something more reasonable.

I'd like to see a poll asking how many folks would buy the expansion if they knew the Chill rares were limited to 1 rare per chest at a drop rate of 2.5% or whatever they deem is reasonable.

reviewing how folks react to a win after they've had many failures in a game is something game developers are well aware of, so if they rolled out a fix to rares that most found palatable, most would feel they'd won DDO and the enthusiasm could be enviable.

the only down side is some folks have checked out of DDO, so we need a fairly large reversal of rares to cast a net wide enough to bring those folks back.

there are many paths to a win here...rares isn't a bad idea, it was just implemented as a quick cash grab.

I would make this poll but @Cordovan has promised to cast Dismissal on me and send me back to my home plane in the Far Realms.

SSG - you already got my money. I'll spend more on liquor this weekend anyway.

Myth Drannor was arguably your worst expansion between the crest fetching, terrible raid with insane mob HP, and the worst mechanic being rare loot and rare augments.

Ravenloft was your best expansion, the highest regarded and still great to this day. Continue this with the next one.

Rare loot/augments is not needed. The mythic/reaper/curse system already ensure those who care will continue to farm and re-roll chests. Those who don't simply won't bother to run the stuff more than once for XP.

Farming rare loot turned me into a sociopath, I much prefer the role of forum buffoon and mediocre player who thinks he knows everything.

For once this is pretty sensible from the troll.

Tbh, I'm not even worried about the loot at all. I just want decent engaging gameplay >.>

I haven't bought md and haven't really felt the desire to after reading all the negative feedback about rare loot and unfun quests. The XP would be nice and at a good heroic level too, but the loot Tetris with sun moon augs is the main draw. So if those are locked behind 2% drop rates, then statistically they're effectively unavailable, and then it's just chore-tier quests for ok xp. Which means maybe black Friday if it's on sale I'll grab the quest content in the store.

I'm going to take a similar approach to Lamordia as well. If the loot is statistically non existent, if the quests aren't quick paced and entertaining without annoying mechanics, then it'll probably be a 2026 or 27 expansion for me.

So you want an easy button? Seems lowly

I think the appearance of the chest ransack reset potion in the expansion pretty much guarantees they are not just sticking with rare loot but are doubling down on it. So scummy.
Don’t worry , it was lamely denied . Like they’ve ignored 100s of pages of feedback but weirdly respond to that potion and that there are no wilderness purple rares that spawn 100%.

Stay not responding if you’re just going to be misinformed or lie when you do respond.

You could say yes, although I don't call it an easy button. I want to get loot quickly, because loot farming is incredibly boring. There's no challenge in it, and even less fun. It's a tedious and repetitive task that eventually burns me out.

I expect to get loot in a reasonable amount of time, be able to equip it, and then play the content I really enjoy. I paid for it and I expect to get it. And I want to have fun with it, not bore myself to death farming it unsuccessfully.

And no, I don't consider getting a rare item an achievement. That's not an achievement or something to be proud of. If I have to win the lottery, let it be in real life, and for a few million of bucks. Now that's the kind of luck I want.

Whats preventing you from playing the content you enjoy without that rare loot? Seems to be very minor increases as is.
