Rare loot sucked most of the fun out of MD - don't ruin another expansion with this stupid mechanic

because loot farming is incredibly boring. There's no challenge in it, and even less fun. It's a tedious and repetitive task that eventually burns me out.

SSG: Don't repeat quests too often! You'll burn out ! Do a variety! We made you get little xp on repetition to make sure you don't repeat too much (quests generally only worth doing for xp if you have all of: first time, delving, daily bonus - this is anti grouping in a lower pop MMO !)

Also SSG: Repeat quests a thousand times to farm gear

this why i think rare loot should be limited not 3-4 rares in every quest . outside of luck rares should be in saga rewards and raids only where you can buy with runes . make rare dlb cost like you did with dryad and dino

I don't mind the rare loot, just add a stopgap:

1. Ransack gets you a list of 1/2 the items.
2. 10 Collectables lets you choose an item, 20 for a rare item
3. ?
4. Profit

100% the rare loot mechanic is to distract us from the fact that they are sneaking crest mechanics into every quest in the expansion 😉

I don't mind some items being rarer than others... but no way at having an incremental way to get to the item you want is stupid.

But what's dumber is... we've already been through this.

This is the exact BS that led to them getting rid of the scroll/shard/seal system and convert it to just a basic ingredient for upgrades. Why do we want to reinvent the wheel?
Every time we come up with a new loot system, SSG is like... oh... you know what? Randomization with no incremental progress was a bad experience... let's fix that.

But not on the new system.

Nope.

Until the people who spend thousands of dollars a year on the game stop, this will continue.

The whales are spending 10 or even 100 times as much as us. They dictate the direction of the game.

We can only hope that a much larger % of us stop buying expansions until rare loot ends.

I think rare loot would be much less hated and even popular if there existed a proper pity system.

Make it obscene but it exists.

Like 50 of the non-rare version or whatever. That would actually shutup a lot of naysayers here (maybe even all).

Can we start at 2 and not 50?
What kind of negotiator are you, even?

Make it 300 Reflections of the Warblade and you can turn it in for a Robe of the Warblade!

What I suggested has nothing to do with the s/s/s system.

Only in the sense that they turned it from a rare loot system with no pity system, into a loot system with incremental gains... which is what you were suggesting for MD.
What I suggested is the same thing that we accept as a working system with raids...

But if they alienate the regular playerbase, they will quit. I don't know how many % of players are whales (in most games low single digit %). Even if it is 10%. If only whales were left...... 200 active players logged in vs. 2000 now? That's an empty game.

Whats preventing you from playing the content you enjoy without that rare loot? Seems to be very minor increases as is.
Why pay if I can't get the items?

And I'm not just against rare loot; this is simply the most extreme abomination of a poorly designed system. I'm against the current loot system, even for non-rare items. Relying on luck is frustrating and absurd. The first packs had a safety system after three pack completions, so we received a list of named items. And that was back then, content was very scarce, and loot was a way to keep people busy.

Now there's no excuse. The game is huge. The grind associated with XP is endless. So there's no reason to create loot systems solely based on luck.

Farming loot is boring. Infernally boring. I hate it with all my heart.

You don't have to farm, you can wear what you pull.

For people who like to spend their spare time incrementally making their gear better, they can farm curses, m/r, and rare loot.

Exactly. There's already rare loot in the form of mythical bonuses, reapers, curses... basic loot should be easy and quick to obtain. And "rare" loot, as SSG understands it, has no place in this game. If we're not even in the cap, what's the point of setting drop rates that make it impossible to obtain loot until it's already obsolete?

People who want special loot are already farming these extra bonuses for basic gear, and with so many bonuses intertwined, getting the perfect item isn't easy. That's what SSG needs to understand. There's no point in making the items themselves difficult to obtain.

And it's not fun.

As for carrying any item you find, come on, Gunga. I know you like to provoke by saying things you don't mean, but this is ridiculous and beneath your intelligence. You know how the game works, and you have to plan your gearset in advance if you want to get a halfway decent result. You're a top player, so don't try to play dumb or take me for a fool with statements like that.

Anur, you said, "Farming loot is boring. Infernally boring. I hate it with all my heart."

This suggests that:
1. You care less about what loot you wear than you do about farming for it.
or
2. You expect to have access to all the loot with minimal effort.

What you want is valid for you, but neither of those options appeals to me.

Basic loot? Yes, I don't expect it to take much effort to get it. Especially if the effort is mindless farming.

The extra bonuses, mythics, reaper, etc.? I don't mind waiting to get those. I'll get them eventually, but I don't need to farm stupidly because if I change one item, I have to change all the others, and I have to have all the items to change my gear. Changing the same item to an upgraded one is a whole different beast.
