Rare loot + the curse system sucks. Make it suck less

I'm not going to get too wordy on this since I expect the peanut gallery to bring this to 10+ pages (see chapter 17 in my upcoming book "Fire and forget trolling.")

The curse-card system, along with farming for reaper and mythic versions of items, has ensured that we will farm and re-roll chests ad naseum in order to get that perfect item. There was no need for rare loot.

I pug a lot. Variety is the spice of life and how else am I supposed to feel about my mediocrity? 6+ months later I'm seeing most of the "non-crazies" still in older sets of gear, as if they didn't even bother to run Myth Drannor with it's predatory and borderline evil loot system. So bad that re-rolling is only worth it during a loot bonus and even then it's questionable.

The casuals are smarter, they realize the only way to win this "game" is not to play.

TLDR: Remove the rare drop rates completely.

Regarding cards, the curse cleansers are too rare. Either up the drop rate or sell them in the store.

I wouldn't mind rare drop table so much if mythic crafting was a thing - especially because the rare drop table armors and weapons of Myth Drannor are all used to craft raid weapons/armors which can not exist with mythic bonuses because of the nature of being crafted.
But also too much is being put on the rare drop table, if it was a single item per quest that's whatever but is there really a worse feeling than farming for a rare item and getting a completely different one instead?

The rare loot drop rates make me want to play different games -- I already haven't played DDO 13 months in the past 18 months. It's dumb that rare quest loot is harder to acquire than raid loot. Beating the RNG is not a rewarding challenge.
I know, I thought we lost you for good. Dom is a persistent nackle.

Hell, I'd probably settle for the rare loot to actually do what it says it does!

I'd go off about their incompetency more, but I have come to realize they don't understand words greater than 2 syllables.
Incompetency assumes this was a mistake rather than an intentional business decision. That's not a good assumption to make.

I agree.

RNG and rare items is what the current leadership's vision for the game. It's unlikely to change unless there is a change in leadership or if the game loses enough players/revenue from people quitting due to these systems.

16 runs with 6 characters on LE pilgrim's (can't run R because you might get a sucky reaper bonus and the idea is to get a good ring to put ranged power on it). Not a single ring with a mythic +3, a few with a mythic +1, but loads of rings which were all cursed.

Best curse was +1 imbue die on a ring with no mythic bonus. It's a frustrating system when there is no path to put what you want it. Especially when crafting a reaper bonus on an item for 75 fragments. I don't think SSG plays their own game because if they did they would realize how horrible it feels to use these systems.

Its' a curse system because the whole system is a curse on the players. With that said I mostly just ignore it if I don't get a good one.

Most of us come to expect such posts from you. Knowing full well that they're just bait.

These systems do suck, especially how they work together to make getting an ideal gearset so difficult. It's almost as if they were specifically designed to make people hate the game.

The addition of rare loot really says a lot about SSG's view of its customers. Rather than trying to make a good product that people want to buy, they've decided that the best way forward is to try suckering us out of our money with this obnoxious and abusive gambling mechanic instead.

It's obvious that they are having trouble monetising endgame, but this is not the way to do it. Making your players hate you is not how you increase revenue over the longer term.
