Rare loot + the curse system sucks. Make it suck less

You chose 3 mediocre possibilities to suit your narrative.

There could also be the more realistic scenario imagining the exact game that exists currently, except, instead of having to farm a chest 600 times, you only have to ransack it 3 times. That would fix the current problem we're talking about without recreating 60-minute long quests that only 3 people want, and also affording some of the more casual, alt collectors a chance at rare stuff.
Indeed. We had a better system in place just before MD dropped. Turning the narrative to "pick one from these" when what we had was superior is lame.

I agree with you alot, but the division isnt necessarily a bad thing.

The players with alts generally play for fun and are not to concerned with all that power and will continue to play that way with like minded people. Key is to not get sucked into being a lackey for folks in the other part of the division.

The players in the other part of the division are SSG’s goldmine, they are the ones so heavily invested that each new investment that comes out must be acquired to maintain pace, their investment is so deep that to leave will mean that they waisted all the investment they have already spent, this being the singular reason as to why they are the goldmine. I would hazard a guess that SSG has meetings with the sole purpose to figure out how to mazimize this without breaking it.
I have many alts, I play for fun, but I'm also a power gamer, and I'm not ashamed of it. I have several characters with a lot of PLs and pretty good gear. I'm not desperate to get the top bonuses, but I do like to get competent characters who can not only play their roles well, but who I can play fluently solo.

I've paid for a subscription and the highest tier of xPacks because I believe that work should be paid for. But I'm not an idiot. I'm not going to get scammed and pay thousands of shards because they're going to implement a predatory loot mechanic, nor am I going to buy Otto boxes because I desperately need PLs (heh, I actually get a good amount of store points with each toon).

So no, you can't generalize by saying that alt players don't care about power. That's not the case. Many people I play with have a supermain, take care to keep it up to date, and have a few weak alts they'd like to improve, if only SSG didn't make the goalposts so far away. Thinking people are going to spend non-stop in Ottos or other boosts on their alts is pretty naive for SSG part. Most people don't spend much on their alts because SSG has set the goalposts too far out of reach.

And we all play for fun, really. It's just that not everyone finds the fun in the same place.

Reality is Time, Cost, Quality: Pick two.

You want fast quality loot, Buy astral shards for 6 accounts.
You want cheap quality loot, get on the grind wheel.
You want fast cheap loot, don't build around rare gear.

As long as loot is a monetised component of this game, you can't avoid this reality, and its likely to only get worse in time. Personally I'd prefer a real slog-fest hour+ long quest difficulty that could justify a real drop rate as opposed to grinding easy 7 minute quests as nauseam... but that's just me I suppose...
Dude it's a game no a physical product... thus all three are possible.

Still not possible. If 'rare' loot was fast and cheap to acquire it wouldn't be rare or quality, it would just be the standard that everyone gets in a week or two. So you still only get to pick two.

Anyways I'm done playing devil's advocate, the rare system is garbage.

It was perfect pre-MD. Casuals could get decent gear with reasonable effort, grognards could continue to grind for the "pretty" versions. The Card system reinforced this.

There is no reason at all for a casual to waste their time with MD gear. It's only marginally better than dino, the quests are worse, and you're literally lose your mind farming for it.

End this lunacy.

The curse system sparked a fairly negative reaction from players in Lammania. I've had the impression from the beginning that the developers didn't want to create a useful curse remover, and that they only reluctantly introduced the curse cleaner to quell player protests, hoping that players might accept the system better once they'd tried it.

In other words, I don't think they ever intended curse cleaners to be effective, hence the intentional (abysmally low) drop rate.

It’s ok for them to change their original, faulty position and let them drop 20x as often.

Remove the rare drop rates completely.
Sure! 8)
Either up the drop rate
No.
or sell them in the store.
Yes. Win-win for both players and devs.
1. Remove the cleansers.
Yes.
2. Allow us to pick the effect we want from a list, increase the cost of the cards per deck to compensate.
No. It's a curse! :p
I wish they would take away curse clensers completely. Or even better, put some real curses in there.
Yes for both.

That is a good example.

Technically all they did was reduce the number of matts needed, cutting back on the grind. It was a positive improvement.

But if they don't change track from these abusive loot mechanics, well, I guess I'll be done with the whole game. I already can't even group since no one bothers flagging for the quests I want to play.

So what was the point of playing advocate other than attempting to prove your right? (Waste of time)
