The formula for RXP scaling makes high reaper more of an endgame activety and that is a very good thing.
This is the real problem. It is way, way harder to run high reaper in heroics than in legendary and it is rewarded way, way less. I run most newer quests on R6 (saltmarsh, feywild, isle of dread, white plume chain) and it usually gives around 300 RXP (plus or minus 100 depending on the level of the quest and length). It greatly increases the time taken for about 100 extra RXP over what you get for R1. It makes absolutely no sense that they do it this way.The gains from upping the skulls in heroics, especially lower heroics, is pitiful. And the challenge has been, for me anyway, higher than the roflstomp r10 questing more or less is these days. So I'd definitely be behind more rxp from higher skulls in heroics.
I wouldn't say it is by design so much as by player whine. They doubled the RXP at cap only when the babies that stay at cap whined that they were not earning RXP much faster than people on the TR train. I'm fine that they got their double RXP, but now it is time to give it to the rest of us. The easiest part of the game (the level cap when you have all your abilities and best gear) should not be the part that pays the best. R10 is harder in heroics than in legendary and should at least give 20% of what you would get in legendary rather than 2%.The lion's share of reaper XP to be earned in the game is in legendary quests where you earn twice as much. When you're leveling up, there are some quests that have some decent RXP, like running Gianthold on mid-skulls. Otherwise you're better off just zooming through your levels to get to legendary content.
Running R10 in heroic levels is something you do for a personal achievement, not as a way to maximize your RXP gain. With XP pots, ship buff, Master's Gift and an experience tome you can earn about 80k RXP leveling 1-20 just doing R1 difficulty. The first time bonus in a single legendary quest is about 10k RXP. That's by design.
Yes. Heroic Feywild and Legendary Feywild are literally the exact same quests with the exact same objectives and the exact same length. And due to the fact that your characters are much less well developed, heroic feywild is harder on the same reaper level. So it makes no sense that it is much more poorly rewarded with RXP.This is true. But I wish it was a little less true.
Doing high reaper heroics felt punishing, but the reward in rxp was not remotely worth it.
I'm not trying to replace legendary runs as the best rxp. But I do think there's still room to give a little more rxp to low level quests on higher reaper. So that zerging r1-4 isn't the only option ever considered while running heroics. I would love it if high reaper heroics were at least a little bit rewarded, so when you do it, you don't feel completely like an idiot.*
*Only 80% would be fine.
It's by design to create an endgame scene that was very much lacking at the time. It's a very good design and just crying about it will not make them change it.I wouldn't say it is by design so much as by player whine. Explain why its a good thing in a game that encourages us to constantly be on an extremely boring TR train. You know what might help? RXP that is worth the effort. Instead of waiting to do it in epics and Legendary when its 500X easier and for some stupid reason far more rewarding. The formula for RXP scaling makes high reaper more of an endgame activety and that is a very good thing.
How do you kill a quest NPC?There's also haverdasher himself, kill him and it's 10 mobs.
You also get more plat at high levels. How stupid! Level 1 is hardest and should be the most rewarding level.Explain why its a good thing in a game that encourages us to constantly be on an extremely boring TR train. You know what might help? Personally, I don't mind reaper being more rewarding at cap. I just think there's so huge a disconnect between the challenge and the rewards that the heroic reaper rewards could be improved. There's room enough to improve it without making it pay as good cap runs, I tihnk. You also get more plat at high levels. How stupid! Level 1 is hardest and should be the most rewarding level.
Lets say they increase is it so the new "standard" lfm difficulty becomes R5+. New players would have a hopeless time.Personally, I don't mind reaper being more rewarding at cap. I completely agree that it shouldn't be so large an increase as to make the new standard too high for new players. I still think there's room between that and the current abysmal payout. As I said back in post 9.Lets say they increase is it so the new "standard" lfm difficulty becomes R5+. New players would have a hopeless time.
A small increase that wont affect players decisions is fine. It seems kind of pointless though.I completely agree that it shouldn't be so large an increase as to make the new standard too high for new players. I think of it this way... currently 99.9% of heroic quests run on reaper are in the 1-4 skulls range, and most of those on r1. I'd like to change that number to, say, the 95% ballpark. This leaves plenty of LFMs for newer players, but also opens up a small window for any who would like the challenge and fun on higher reaper in heroics - and not feel a complete idiot where rewards are concerned.A small increase that wont affect players decisions is fine. Fair enough, but if they are given "xp worth doing" or become "more rewarding than the easier level 30+ content" as is asked for it will have dire consequences.I think of it this way... currently 99.9% of heroic quests run on reaper are in the 1-4 skulls range, and most of those on r1. I don't think most levelling LFMs are going to change much unless the reaper xp for high skulls is set stupidly high. Most people run for the regular xp to get pastlives/to get to cap.
So I think there's a window for a meaningful upgrade to heroic reaper xp in higher skulls, where it doesn't completely change the current dynamics - but still opens up a new (or at least more meaningfully rewarded) option for those who might possibly find higher skull heroics fun.
It definitely shouldn't be more rewarding than 30+ content, but it definitely should be more rewarding than it is now. There is room there to bridge the gaps a little bit to make r1-r3 zerg meta a bit less "the only option" without taking away the purpose of doing high reaper at cap.Fair enough, but if they are given "xp worth doing" or become "more rewarding than the easier level 30+ content" as is asked for it will have dire consequences.
