REINCARNATION CACHE - PLEASE ELIMINATE NEED TO WITHDRAW TO REINCARNATE.

The cache’s speed in which it loads makes it EXTREMELY painful to reincarnate. I cannot empty my cache in less than45 minutes to an hour after reincarnating.

It takes multiple minutes to even load.

Plus a ridiculous amount of time to move anything out when it’s full, and while it gets faster as you unload it, my gosh can you PRETTY PLEASE eliminate the need to empty it to reincarnate!?!?! I’m literally here 6-7 min waiting for it to load and it STILL isn’t populated.

I have limited time and it shouldn’t take 2 hours to Heroic or Racial RE.

THANK YOU!!!

If neither Epic Reincarnation nor Lesser Reincarnation, both of which involve releveling a toon from L1, force a Reincarnation Cache, a True Reincarnation shouldn't, either.

While the plural of anecdote isn't data, I've never met a player who had every available inventory slot filled where the loss of Coin Lords or Kundarak favor meant that they actually had more items than bank/inventory space after a full Reincarnation. The Cache needs to go.
A true Reincarnation involves resetting a character from level one. Epic & lesser reset stats not the entire character, this was answered several years ago on a fridays at 4 stream.
However, some type of mechanism that automatically shifts items to character bank is long overdue.

How many items do you have in the cache?

I can empty mine in less than 5 minutes with 120 ish items.

I have friends with far more take longer but nowhere near the numbers you list.

Why does this read, to me, like, "Please give me unlimited storage for free!"?

It does not have though.

If Coin Lords and House K favor rewards were made permanent gear could simply be handled similar to during an ETR. Thus removing the need for a cache. For me that would be cool though I dont suffer from the cache

That, unfortunate, would also lead to complaints from those players that rely on the TR cache to have room to play.

A "Disperse all items into inventory and bank" button can potentially solve the problem.

BTC items go first in the sequence and prioritize placement into your character bank, when that fills then to your inventory.
A suggestion made numerous times – and indeed it would improve the situation. Another fun fact: on my so-called "main", I currently have the strange behaviour that only items from my inventory go into my reincarnation cache after a TR, while the items in my bank remain in my bank – even if I have more items than my bank can hold, because I still lose my Kundarak bank space after a TR. This seems like some kind of unintended feature, but it is a great help after a TR. Unfortunately, I only see this behaviour on my so-called "main". And there are surely several other ways you could improve the situation...

But the solution that radically solves the issue and tackles it at the root is this: we should no longer lose Kundarak and Coin Lords bank and inventory space, and a TR should work – regarding our items – like an ER or LR. I never had any issue after an LR or ER, so I don't see why they don't make that change in favor of the players. And it would have saved a lot of developer time in the past, too, when they tried to upgrade and improve the reincarnation cache – with the result that it is almost as annoying as it was on day one!

Therefore, stop trying to fix a system that was a bad idea from the start with band-aids – just completely remove the reincarnation cache from DDO. This would be an advancement and a win-win for everyone!

you have less space after some reincarnations

I will not delete old items. SSG keeps adding systems the suddenly make them useful again many years later. This is not a player problem, but a SSG promoted problem. As such, it is on SSG to fix it.

Rabid's tip works, though it's still not lightning fast. But it definitely helps, for me anyway. With around 220 items on my main, I think the time was down to around 30 minutes last time. But that does include sorting through the stuff for inventory, placing bags and stuff in hotbars, placing stuff in the bank tabs I want them to go and so on.

That's not true – it's just a bit more difficult to see why. Before you reincarnate, you have to empty your reincarnation cache completely. And because of this, the maximum space the reincarnation cache can hold in practice is exactly the space you can free up in your inventory to make room for loot and questing. And idk about you, but for me that's usually around 100 slots. This amount can never be higher than that free inventory space.

And for that small advantage, you have to empty your reincarnation cache every life. The problem with that: this additional space the reincarnation cache provides can also never be smaller than that – no matter how much free character bank space SSG gave us, even for free.

The point in the end is that the reincarnation cache was a bad idea from the beginning, and most likely just a band-aid, because Turbine wanted us to lose Kundarak bank and inventory space after a TR and make us reacquire it again. But exactly that isn't necessary. There are several things you unlock permanently – even account- or server-wide – with favor, so it would be a very small concession to let us keep that space.

And if you ask me, I can certainly live with around 100 less space if it means I never again have to deal with that annoying reincarnation cache. Those 100 slots also don't generate revenue for SSG, so they have no financial interest in keeping the system – rather the opposite, because the reincarnation cache is something they have to maintain, and in the past they already put a lot of unnecessary work into it trying to improve its performance, add a search function, and so on.

And by the way, when I say a TR could work like an ER or LR regarding your bank and inventory space, this could also mean you simply keep your current reincarnation cache – so there's no pressure on you to empty it, and you keep that additional space for all the items you want to hold on to but have no use for in the near future. The only difference would be that no new items go into your reincarnation cache anymore after a TR.

But the cleanest solution I would suggest to SSG is this: you no longer have to empty your reincarnation cache after a TR, and all items from your current reincarnation cache and your character bank are moved into (or remain in) your character bank. This way the reincarnation cache disappears the moment you TR the next time, and you lose no space compared to the situation before the reincarnation. Your character bank will most likely exceed the amount of space it can normally hold – and you would simply only be able to pull items out of your bank (not put new ones in) until you are back below the space your character bank can usually store.

Even better for SSG would of course be if they ran a routine that moves the reincarnation cache on all characters into the character bank. Then the reincarnation cache could be completely removed from the DDO code with a single patch.

So you want infinite storage.

I can only imagine what that will do to server resources required to open the bank.

No.

I have an AutoHotKey script that will empty it for you.

It does have a few quirks including having to reset your computer to turn off.

#NoEnv ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases.
; #Warn ; Enable warnings to assist with detecting common errors.
SendMode Input ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability.
SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.
;Clicks to empty a TR cache, one double-click every 7 seconds.

#Persistent

SetTimer, EmptyTRCache, 7000
Return

EmptyTRCache:
Click, 2
CheckRunning()
{
Process, Exist, DNDLauncher.exe
If (ErrorLevel = 0)
{
Process, Exist, dndclient.exe
If (ErrorLevel = 0)
{
Process, Exist, dndclient64.exe
If (ErrorLevel = 0)

It's such a shame that the majority of players silently quit already because of this. And now due to survivorship bias when we go to the forums to ask for improvement we get annoying comments from the remaining population where there's a disproportionate population of players who were able to put up with the problem. So these people mistakenly think they're part of the majority when in reality the majority already left.

My biggest wish in DDO is an option to opt out of the reincarnation cache. We got these really nice bank tabs to keep everything organized, so why, oh why do every reincarnation pull everything out of my bank and into that stupid cache so I have to add it all back again!!! I don't even ever pick up and House K favor so it's not even like my bank becomes smaller by reincarnating. JUST. LEAVE. STUFF. WHERE. IT. IS.

While I do not dispute that a significant number of players probably left DDO due to this I also think you display a large amount of self-bias towards _your_ main issue with this claim.

Personally, I think far more players quit over lag and by far even more players quit simply because they like to try new games.

But noone really knows.

* I would like to point out that Korthos doesn't have bank access.
* I would also want to point out that the reincarnation cache should be modified to get only the items from inventory, pets, equipped.
* The reincarnation should not affect your bank!
* Lost bank space should go to overflow if need be.
The above points would be a huge QoL without affecting the game as is currently and I also believe it would require minimum development effort.

Unfortunately, completely eliminating the cache would affect the gameplay and might cause difficulties in playing freshly reincarnated toons. For that reason I'm against the complete removal of the cache.

I would also want to see ways to give our raid items and get a part of the raid currency. We already have raid currency to get items from raids, why not reduce the btc items by turning them to raid currency.

If you missed my post in this thread: I already said this is how the reincarnation cache currently works for my so-called "main". And this will save me from moving 415 items from the reincarnation cache to my character bank the next time I do a TR, which is of course a good thing. I just don't know why I have this "feature" active on my so-called main – it doesn't work like this on the other characters on the same account, and not on my other accounts either. It might be because my character bank space is bigger than on any other character I have, since I bought every possible upgrade for my so-called main.

And I don't think it would cause any unbearable difficulties if SSG removed the reincarnation cache completely. They could just move all items from our reincarnation caches to our character banks with a script, and then remove the reincarnation cache code from DDO entirely. After that, simply make a reincarnation work exactly like an LR or ER – meaning we keep our Kundarak and Coin Lords bank and inventory space. This would be the cleanest solution to the problem: best for SSG and DDO, and also very good for the players, who would no longer have to deal with the reincarnation cache – other than the memory that a TR used to be very annoying because of that "feature"!

Some people have a cache with a number of items that equal character bank + character inventory when emptied. A player can't do anything when their inventory is full of BtC stuff. So that's up to 8 tabs at 20 slots (160 slots) of overflow beyond what the bank could hold.

Pro tip: hoard less crap. 👍
That's been mentioned time and time again but the response is always, 'It's SSGs fault, they make us hoard all this stuff'. It's like talking to a brick wall.

"We need more bank space', No, you need to roll back your pack-rat tendencies. If you haven't used something in 10 lives, get rid of it! With very few exceptions, there is now something better that is easier to get than what you are holding onto.
Allow me to show you why I no longer delete older, annoying/boring-to-farm BTC items unless I absolutely have to.
The vast majority of my TR cache is old BTC raid items. It would be annoying and, more importantly, very time consuming to go back and re-farm those items from the old raids again, especially with the stupid 3-day lockout timer.

Widespread BTC itemization is the root cause of the TR cache problem. Get rid of BTC and the problem goes away overnight. But they've made zero effort to reduce the BTC bloat, so I'm doing nothing to reduce my BTC hoarding.

If SSG would go back and retroactively make loot from raids older than the two or three most recent expansions BTA instead of BTC, it would alleviate a large portion of this problem. Or, they could implement some sort of buy-back/trade-in system where we could trade in the old BTC items for runes. That would allow us to empty our character banks but still easily convert the runes back to the specific item in the future if needed.

They just introduced an item that upgrades the Elemental Victory helm. I have my mirrored cosmetic version of it, but don't have the original anymore; probably was nuked to free space. That's gonna be a horrible grind to get a replacement. So it's hard to ditch any old junk when stuff like that can happen.
Exactly this. I got burned soooo badly on the Soulforged and Essence aug crafting.

Literally less than 6 months before they released the update that added those aug systems, I went on a TR cache cleaning spree and feed a bunch of old raid items to a sentient jewel.

If I hadn't, I would have had enough items to craft at least 20 of those augs, which were really useful at the time that system was introduced.

I said all items are moved from the reincarnation cache to the character bank, which means your inventory would not be affected by that script. Therefore it could not happen that your inventory is suddenly full of BtC items – unless this hits someone at the exact moment they had just emptied their reincarnation cache. But to cover that rare but possible case, this one-time script could move every last item into the character bank of every character. Then the inventory is empty on every character, and you can decide yourself which items you want to move into your inventory.

And if this point isn't clear: it means the character bank would temporarily hold more items than it normally can, and until it's back below its regular limit, you can only pull items out of the bank (not put new ones in).

And of course, as I wrote earlier in this thread, another option would be that your reincarnation cache simply persists until you empty it completely – but no new items are ever moved into it again. It becomes pull-out only, and a TR would work exactly like an LR or ER does now regarding inventory and bank space, which also means we keep the Kundarak and Coin Lords bank and inventory space we've already unlocked. This is just not as clean a solution as removing the reincarnation cache code from DDO altogether.

And just to mention it: even better would be if all items, with a few exceptions, were BtA, if all character banks were merged into the account bank, and if we had access to all our items on any character we're logged in with. But how to work this out so that it functions in practice is another story – and even though I already have ideas for it, that's too far off topic for this thread. But with this, DDO would have only two places for items: the inventory of each character, and one BIG "hoard" for our whole account.

Here's the problem with that position:

Let's say a first lifer reincarnates at Level 20 without getting any Kundarak or Coinlords Favor. He has the 80 Character Bank slots and the 60 Inventory trunks for a total of 140 items. All 140 items go into the Reincarnation Cache.

Now, let's say he gets to L20 again, and refills those 140 slots, but does it without taking a single item out of the Reincarnation Cache, somehow. He now has 280 items. Rinse, wash, repeat.

At some point, it is kind of hard to feel sympathy for folks using the Cache to double their personal storage space.

But that's not how it works; you don't double things each time since you have to remove the TR cache before TRing. So if I have 80 bank slots + 60 inventory full of items and TR, the TR cache is at 140 items. I have to remove those items before I TR again, so those 80 + 60 slots will be full again before the next TR. The limit is always how many slots you own. It's just important to point that the personal inventory slots are a factor in the TR cache and some people seem to forget that.
