Relentless Chest

do they have logs for this stuff? if you screenshot a timestamp, instance, and submitted a bug report with character name etc maybe they could look into it that way? Of course maybe they dont log millions of chest interactions (they should)

Maybe, a dev could accompany a raid party? Provide raid timers for those willing to run it multiple times? @SteelStar Doesn't sound like it would take too many run throughs for someone to be affected.
I've been playing so long that I remember the days when they would help in game. Intimmed Aurgloroasa over the battlements in Deathwyrm and had a DM move her in real time so we could complete, lmao, will never see those days again.

Not a bad idea

Though, I don’t know how effective it’d be. Unless it’s possibly instance based? Or something lags/trends at the time that loot doesn’t populate.

With the raid timer already holding us back, it’s really frustrating to keep running into a bug where the chest is empty.
This has happened three times in the last two weeks.

It feels like this could be fixed pretty easily if you just logged the chest results for Relentless Quest.
At the very least, when this bug happens and a bug report is sent, you should grant a raid timer bypass.

It's not an exclusive thing that happens to this raid only, so it's a more in depth issue, hence why there's little progress on it.

I've done chest openings sequentially when I run 12 man Raid runs for testing, and I've seen the no item occurance once so far (in Fire on Thunder Peak), but I can no longer recollect if it was done on Reaper, I do not believe so however, but could easily be mistaken also.

But the primary takeaway is, it's not something you can just replicate by doing many times or through variations of player actions; there's something else that has fallen through that has made this possible. And without factoring that in and finding out what that is to replicate the issue concisely, there's not going to be much progress on this front.

What's everyone's ping when this happens? Is it exclusive to very high or very low pings?

When the Lolth raid Caught in the Web came out, there were similar issues, no named loot was dropping. The devs gave every toon a "Raider Reward Box". It allowed you to pick 1 item from the raid. Maybe this should be implemented again. Not gonna hold my breath though.

Did anyone with the bug try logging out and back? I'm wondering if the chest has loot for you but the client was never notified (eg. packet loss) and has no way to request a resync with the server.

Or, worse, maybe chests require sync with the client to populate when opened in the first place. That's an insane way to do things, but it would explain why it only v.rarely happens.

Given the number of weird sync issues with DDO, I'm pretty sure they do not have proper tests setup with induced network issues like excessive latency, out of sequence packets, and dropped packets -- thus reproducing it would be difficult if that's the cause.

if Steelstar is shouting the timers I'll be there

Nobody reported if they tried to tumble either. It's been rumored to resync you.
Didn't try that as it was just a routine test run at Fire on Thunder Peak run for me, and that suggestion wasn't made at that point for me to attempt it. But can certainly try in future if it happens again.

The only thing is then, should a player tumble in the vincinity of the chest so that it stays open? Walk away (so chest closes) and tumble away before opening it again? Or whilst the chest is open tumble away so it closes that way before moving back and checking the chest again?

As each one of those is different and one may be the solution but if there's only one shot at it then obviously we want to test the one that most players believe to be the one that might fix it. Obviously if it doesn't, can mark it down and try another, but we'd obviously want clearly performed tests so we can rely on the info and not just hope for the best, or worse, later find out we missed out a small step (close chest first) and missed out on loot because of that.

My bet is that tumble just syncs your position. A relog would force your client to reload everything in the zone, including the chest.

BUT .. if tumble does force a full resync (mob positions, item states, chest states/contents, etc), then it really wouldn't matter where you do it. I'd think closed chest probably best. Open might be cached in the UI and not reread on resync.

I'd also be sure to NOT use Dungeon Helper, too. It has loot management add-ons that might exacerbate the entire problem.

It's been 29 months since the optional Fire Reaver Invader redname in the quest Law and Order has been sealed behind a bugged force field that can't be removed.

Don't get your hopes up.
Optional in a D- Tier expansion ≠ a raid with a singular chest that drops loot.

Regardless, it should be fixed.

summon a devil, it teleports inside,, atacks it and the forcefield drops. Been in there when it first came out, but not tried since.

Hey, this happens when you were in the pit when the boss dies. (Where you go after being gripped) We have had this happen consistently.

You guys forgot the 1st rule of SSG games:
Dont pay real money for things until they hit the discount stage.

Forgetting this is what encourages their contempt for us, because we are their alpha and beta testers.

The very idea of Rare Loot is clearly disrespectful of players' time and effort; just give us guaranteed runes or tokens for trade-in towards raid/quest items. How many people actually shards for re-roll? Are shards that much of a money-maker that we have to spend hours farming for a single item?

This is an issue we're still investigating - There is currently no known cause, it has not yet been able to be reproduced internally despite much effort, and there is no update to give. It does not appear to be an issue with the chest or treasure tables themselves.

When there is an update to give, we will give it as soon as possible.

Maybe it's something similar to whatever mechanic only gives Eveningstar chests 1 or 2 item drops?

Can we also unlock the doors to the optional chest after the raid completes. It's very frustrating to get locked into the penalty box and missing all the extra mats. It is especially annoying when the Helmed Horror refuses to die so you are stuck in the penalty box for 90% of the raid...
