This raid boss has nothing to do with lambordia and more to do with a religious sun cult fan boy club, Gary Gygax would really be ashamed with this, people seem to be afraid of talking well here is my two cents' juniors. It is just as trashy as your corporate psyop the lack of communication and clear intentions with SSG staff and players. If there is any rules it should be for the few on top to reduce the amount of garbage created.

Honestly, they should have used a more honest and proper source. Something like a 5th edition supplementary rule book. 2021's Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft would have been a good option.

While I agree that the semi-aztec aesthetics of the Relentless Killer does feel out of place in Lamordia, I don't see why Gary Gygax would be ashamed of it. AFAIK he had no involvement with the creation of Lamordia or Ravenloft and the demiplanes of dread at all. Furthermore, he himself created many D&D specific adventures and other material with Aztec, Egyption, Oriental, and even futuristic sci-fi elements mixed in with Euro-medieval high fantasy/swords and sorcery (yup, swords, spells, and laser guns at the same time). He was no purist at all. Indeed he seemed to enjoy (or at least had no problems with) combining odd and wildly differing aesthetics and in world technology in this way.

i dont think you understand the love triangle that was going on in the lore of lamordia. Clearly Viktra was making moves on the juggernaut and he bolted as soon as you walked into the bedroom. Who wouldn't bust out of there! you're chilling in the bedroom and an adventuring party bursts in instead of Viktra.

its not like the just spawned the juggernaut in with no lead up. would you have preferred it be a giant bear in the bedroom?

Mordenheim, with her typically shaky grasp of scientific responsibility, has received the specimen from the Ludendorf police after some sort of incident at Ludendorf Wax Museum, but as she's busy with another experiment she has stuck it in a corner hoping it will starve to death – so naturally it breaks out and escapes Schloss Mordenheim the second you walk in (the Juggernaut proceeds to return to the Wax Museum, and will later rear its ugly head as the boss of the raid Relentless.)

Suspiciously? The dev reasoning was given in that thread, which has been confirmed here in this thread with the image used for inspiration, which is from an official source for the setting, and it was closed due to an unreasonable amount of fighting/insults thrown in now deleted posts. That doesn't seem "suspicious" at all to me. *shrugs*

Now there is an idea: randomize the head and weapon used according to that table for every new instance of the raid! As much as I personally would enjoy slightly altered mechanics according to the head and weapon combo, that would result in people fishing for their preferred combo instead of taking what comes their way... so maybe just a visual change (go art team go). XD

Also invoking Gygax as someone whose sensibility would be offended by the addition of the Juggernaut is a bit rich considering there’s ample examples of his misogyny and bioessentialism in the creation of D&D.

And when called out on his beliefs, he refused to re-evaluate them and instead doubled down on them.

Gygax also stole from others, like Dave Arneson, and took credit in the public sphere for what others had created/contributed to D&D. (Similarly to how Bob Kane took sole creation credit for Batman for years, when Bill Finger is responsible for nearly everything identifiable with the character.)

Now am I saying Gygax is some kind of irredeemable sycophant? No. But he is far from the bastion of all that is right in D&D and its associated media like DDO.

None of that has any relevance even remotely to what was being discussed in this thread. At least I interpreted the OPs assertion of "really be ashamed" not as a result of real life moral convictions, but due to source material supposedly not being honored (which is doubly dubious as not only does it actually match the source material, but he had no part in it's creation in the first place, so this is both a misunderstanding of the source material AND a misattribution to the wrong person).

well in that case it goes to show the dev's lack strength and fortitude to handle mere words. Theres always going to be some kind of friction it shouldn't be "suspicious"
