Removal of the reincarnation cache if you perma buy coin lords and Kundarak inventory and bank space

The title says it all already, even though it seems strange to me. Some players enjoy the reincarnation cache, but why not find a win-win compromise for SSG and players who don't like the reincarnation cache?

Let's propose a solution: For a payment of maybe 5000 DDO points, all your characters will permanently unlock the Coin Lords and Kundarak inventory and bank space. Additionally, no items will be moved to your reincarnation cache anymore, and there will be no need to empty it before you TR.

Our community has a serious problem with hoarding... I'm guilty of it as well. The reason is simple... 2 years from now they release a pack that lets you upgrade that dusty old set of boots to something TRULY magnificent for end-game...

So lets be honest here.... BTC is the single biggest PITA to ever hit the game... Storage isn't and never really HAS been a problem.... it's just that too much of it off-limits. On our Airships we already have storage chests of varying type of access as well as size. Expand the existing stateroom to include an upgrade for chests that accepts BTC items...
.
Even easier... abandon BTC completely and make them all BTA

As someone who has lost items multiple times, lost tomes, lost all epic destiny XP (when that was a thing) and had my character "in limbo" simply due to following the TR process, I want SSG to never touch the TR cache code again. The juice is not worth the squeeze.
I honestly have the opposite issue. I have items randomly duplicate in my TR, which is a good problem to have. Lol.

I hate the TR cache. It also is not the most pleasant thing to use when I have a repetitive strain injury from years of pc gaming and working at a pc as a dev.

But as @Ying pointed out, that thing used to be way more frustrating. Sev also mentioned the code for all the reincarnation stuff is very nasty on one of @Cordovan's live streams. I think he added it's likely they won't be touching the reincarnation stuff again anytime soon (I believe it was late last year).

I would rather they leave it alone and I'll just continue to do my pt exercises if my arm bothers me from all the clicking and dragging.

Agreed.

With mushroom doors and still buggy ladders, I don't feel confident in SSG's ability to change the TR code without nuking everything in it.

I know! What the heck is up with that?!?! Why must the developers keep adding limits to our inventory?

255 tons indeed!!!
I'm all for more inventory/bank space/individual housing. My previous posts have all been about the fact that very little is necessary until Epic/Legendary/End Game content.

You can easily get through R1 content with only CC/RNG gear for heroic levels. Epic and above is where gear makes a big difference. Get rid of the old stuff and you free up a LOT of space.

No. Please no. Another crappy unsorted storage that is separate from the bank is not great. While better than a mule, it still is another thing I need to go run and check to look for stuff when I can't find something Just make the bank work. It is close now, it just needs more space at a reasonable $$ and a couple of bug fixes.

I honestly have the opposite issue. I have items randomly duplicate in my TR,
I have had that happen and then spent weeks wondering what I lost in the trade...

As to the "juice not being worth the squeeze", I repectfully disagree. If they can get rid of TR cache and by extension clicking on 70 or 80 items each life to get them out of the TR cache, I'll take the chance on that change.

What exactly is the problem with the reincarnation cash? It is just a window that pops up. I wouldn't mind a different tigger fo the popup, say a button. But other than that I can't think of anything that is bad or annoying about it. Or is it more the empyting of said cash?

I am in for the 2nd part of your proposal. It was suggested before and multiple times. Offer a possibility to buy the favor cash for your following lifes.

Cheers,
Titus.

There are several issues with the reincarnation cache. It provides a wildcard for SSG when it comes to adding more storage to the game, as some people use their Reincarnation Cache as a tertiary bank for items they'll use throughout their leveling process rather than using their normal character bank or shared bank. It's also a roadblock when it comes to reincarnating again as you need to completely empty your cache before you're able to reincarnate.

If they were to eliminate the reincarnation cache then all of your items could remain on your character, in their inventory, and in their bank without any sort of overflow. That would defeat the purpose of the cache. The benefits is that it would give SSG a much more static number for storage space, possibly allowing them to add additional character bank or shared bank slots. It would also add the benefit of making reincarnation an easier process, removing one of the potential roadblocks.

The only people that would lose out are the ones that rely on using the reincarnation cache as a 'leveling bank' filling up their character bank with more junk as they go through the game and sorting stuff out whenever they're ready to reincarnate again.

The TR cache is radioactive. Can it be engineered so it goes away? Sure. But the chance of fallout is high, and no one is wearing hazmat gear.

I get your reasoning but how does it affect you except the slow speed in emptying it?

The wildcard: It is not. SSG knows excatly how much items and what items are in these spaces. At least with the last changes to the bank.
You don't need to wait until the end to empty it. Why not do it along the way? Assuming you have enough bank space to do so. It really speeds up the reincarnation.

Don't misunderstand me. If you find a reasonable way to store the things I collected over years and I don't have to sift through them every time I am looking for something I forgot the name of, I am fine with that.

But the only negative effect I experience is that it pops up every time and the slow speed at the end, when I don't clear it on the way.

The key is they don't remove it. They leave the code for it there forever (just like other old systems that are defunct but left just in case). They just give everyone 200 extra free banks spots per character and prevent TRing from moving anything into the cache going forward. But I suspect the TR cache is relatively low overhead and it could increase system strain to swap to having the bank space to cover what it already does. So it's just trading one issue for SSG and players for another issue...

The problem with those numbers is that they can change from moment to moment, based on whenever a character completes a reincarnation and how quickly they empty out their cache. When it comes to the numbers for Character Bank, Inventory, and Shared Bank those numbers are much more static.

And from the way it feels, Character Banks and Shared Banks are much more optimized for performance than TR Caches.

Up until now, I didn't get an answer to the negative effects for playing than it is slow while emptying. Or did I miss anything?
Most people are concerned about the backend. That doesn't really bother me because I don't get affected by it normally. So up until now there is no serious reason to make it go away, is there?! TR cache is a bumpy road in the backend. So here I say never change a running system,.

But I'd like to talk about the frontend nevertheless. Hypothetically I got 250 btc items in my TR cache. We got 120/140 character bank space at the moment? So roughly 110/150 needs to go into my inventory? From the start? Items I won't need for several levels?
Sure, they would need to add space. What I am afraid of, do I need to pay for it? Will it be a cashgrab?

This whole thing has tremendous potential for desaster. I am not sure I want to open this can of worms. Are you?

The TR cache is an eye sore and a terrible user experience. I have spent dozens of hours interacting with the TR cache, and it's only detracted from my gameplay. TRing is a core feature of the game, yet there's far too much friction surrounding it.

Eye sore? It mainly looks like the other windows, doesn't it?!
So slowness again. This is the main and a major issue, it seems.

How about a TR chest. It only opens when you interact with is. But if you got a chest you need a place for it...

I don't have that many inventory spots and just 100 bank places. A question for the people that have more: Do you notice an increase in interaction time?

I propose the slight improvement that the TR cache only opens when interacted with. That won't help with emptying for TR but it would be out of the way most of the time until you TR.

I am afraid that a major bank change need to be done to the bank system until this gets more efficient and effective.

Titus

Why would players support a badly designed TR/Inventory system, and what is more paying for it????
That means the chance falls below zero SSG will change or improve it in the future.

It would be much easier to introduce a new system like Houseing where U can keep your items
Also can be sold for DDO points

Yes.
While the augments from old raid items were cool, it set a bad precedent. I am never going to throw out old btc items now, because they might just do this again some day... and last time, I had just thrown out some of the stuff that suddenly became useful again.

Ideally, they'd make it so that once you unlock the favor reward, it's a permanent unlock for you. Doing this will make it so that when you reincarnate, you should never have more items on your character than your character can hold after reincarnation. That in itself should negate the need to shunt all of your items into a TR Cache upon reincarnating. Just leave it where it all is, like when you do an Epic TR.

Just my two cents at least.

Yes, The banker should give 4 options:

Access my bank
Access my Shared bank
Access my TR Cache
Access all.

Each bank can be opened and closed independently. The last choice is just a convenience to give the same access to everything in one click.

Banks also need a multiselect (and move) especially when dealing with the TR cache. (Unless the OPs wish of no TR cache comes to fruition).

The problem is that it also slows down your opening of the bank, and you are forced to empty it each time you want to do a true reincarnation and I dont like that and almost everyone I Ask about that matter doesnt like it too.

Yes, of course, nowadays the situation has improved a lot because now there is at least a search function, and the performance of the reincarnation cache has increased. And I apriciate the effort from the developers even if I think it would have been MUCH better to put the effort in the entire removal of that cache!
However, the fact that some of us are still forced to pull out approximately 280 items from this cache after each true reincarnation remains and is still very annoying for me!

I know some players see the reincarnation cache as additional space and don't want to lose it for that reason. Even though I'm convinced that this is most likely based on a misconception, I want to respect such players and try to find a good compromise that doesnt affect players if they dont want to be affected.

My idea is that players like me who dislike the reincarnation cache can pay a reasonable price in DDO points. If they do so, they will no longer lose Kundarak and Coinlords bank and inventory space. Consequently, there will be no longer a practical need for the cache.

The reason for the cache was from the start very questionable and most likely the lose of Kundarak and Coin Lords bank and inventory space after a true reincarnation, without that we would have never a need for that cache but sad as it is we have it. ?

If you don't lose Kundarak and Coinlords bank and inventory space, a true reincarnation will no longer require a reincarnation cache. It can work exactly like it does now for an Epic Reincarnation (ER) or Lesser Reincarnation (LR).
But even if I only want that change for everyone who dislike that cache, some people still have something to complain about it, very strange for me...
