Back in the day it was implemented for a reason. Decay has been adjusted so why is this mechanic still in the game?

There are zero reasons to keep it. Remove 14 day departure timer please

perhaps be more selective of who you recruit and/or promote in your guild.
if you are removing that many people, I am not sure the game is at fault?

It's an old mechanic that doesn't fit into today's game. Just like the thread about buff cooldowns, that mechanic is not needed.

My opinion on this has not changed in many years. The Guild system in DDO works against the desired goal of bringing people together. The Kinship system in Middle Earth is much, much better.

Shouldn't get to a point of mass booting inactives that don't count against you in the first place. And then eating the penalties afresh. Removing a couple as needed for actual membership turnover is not a gigantic penalty.

And it also exists to penalize the guilds that spam invites without asking looking for suckers in the middle of combat that will occasionally click yes because they are frantically trying to not die in combat. And then will look to drop ASAP because they were not looking to join in the first place.

I am confused by this thread.

When we moved from old servers, our guild wound up with members who were playing and nobody else.

It felt like the great cleansing.

I disagree with the op.
There must be a mechanism that controls membership.
Now if there can be a better mechanism, that could be discussed but to completely remove the existing mechanism is wrong.

Cheers

Ps: my guild is only level 73, with few accounts, so these mechanisms affect me more than big guilds that are already lvl 150+.
