Repeater dry fires from swapping targets

There's probably a ton various reason weapons/spells dry fires; this is just one of many, but a very annoying one. When one tab targets to a new monster, one will often dry fire an entire volley. Here you can see me swap targets, hear an volley fire with nothing happening, then then next volley will hit the target.

And here it is again.

If I'm very methodical about swapping targets, delaying, then firing it can be reduced (but it still happens some regardless of that). DDO is an "Action MMORPG" and it doesn't feel very action based when I have to deal with volleys going POOF; it feels bad when it happens. How to best fix it? IDK, it's probably complex to deal with, but it'd be nice if SSG could something about it.

"Flow" is not the name of the car insurance tv lady. The devs have us in this "flow" prison where we can't barely change the strict order or frequency or interrupts of events, sequences, or timing.

The whole thing needs to be much more player driven, more dynamic, use moar bandwidth, and allow more player control.

We're caught in a script, a lagging behind process, and it "feels" janky and nonresponsive because IT IS janky and nonresponsive. You can tab target/hard select all day long, but until it's your turn in the process cycle to update the client selection states...
(not to mention the server gets hung up on finishing the last projectile(s) events before the new start)
((you can see this when you take the feat rapid shot (or is it reload?) and the projectiles are closer together in their travel path. Line up three breakables in a row and shoot in a straight line before and after the feat. While the server is working on all that collision it won't let you start a new set right away.))

Less player dynamic control:
Smooths over laggy appearance:
yadda yadda I can see why they did it.

But either have faster more interruptible player driven "flow", or trust the client a lot more and just server shrug when we report the event.

And the whole raids have more and solo gets less is lame, imho. That doesn't even work right either with the big spenders (of resources/clients) eating up the available anyway. :p

Personally, I've had better success when waiting for the reload animation to complete before swapping targets (and releasing the left mouse button during that time).

Don't seem to lose the volley as much that way vs holding left mouse and tabbing as soon as the volley completes.

But it's fiddly and I usually just deal with the lost volley.

I can only imagine what repeater DPS would be like if volleys didn't get lost constantly.

DDO's game engine cant really handle ranged combat. I lose so much DPS to vanishing bolts/arrows I rarely play them anymore.

So was not my imagination, recently TRed onto a ranged build and was noticing some dry fire... thought I had did something wrong in the build... but, is just DDO DDO'ing. ☹️
