Requesting a build

Hi there,

an alt of mine is about to hit their 3rd life, but I have no idea what kind of a build to go with.
They have 1 wizard life, and 1 bard life. They only have a +6 intelligence tome, so some kind of a crazy, fun build that uses it would be nice.
It can be flavor build too, as long as it does something fun and interesting.
So a bombadier alchemist is out, although it could make use of the +6 tome, it's wayy too cookie cuttery.

Right now, all I have is 18 wiz / 1 Alch / 1 Rogue, but I am not too enthusiastic about it. Still feels too normal. I want to try something really crazy with this alt, that's what they are for. Powerplay is for the main.

Thank you very much,

-Joanna <3

All you really need are 12 points into the Harper tree to get int to attack, damage, and battle trance. Assuming you're willing to part with 12 points, you're now free to roll whatever you feel like.

It's challenging building something "fun" for someone without knowing what they consider fun playstyles. Having said that, I would go melee gnome, just because having color spray on a melee feels great, assuming you have quicken, and gnome would also give you a healthy amount of UMD and dodge and access to some extra int, lots of little goodies.

So with that out of the way we're down to the actual build. not trapping on an int build seems amiss, so I'd look at splashing rogue or going dark hunter. As luck would have it, rangers get to cast spells and would have access to quicken.

Spray turns mobs helpless, so I'd look at getting extra damage vs helpless to get the most out of the build. rogue acrobat gets +30% damage vs helpless, so it seems to fit the bill.

Seems we're going to end up with at least 6 rogue and 6 dark hunter, rest is up for grabs. I'd probably go 12 rogue (+12% run speed and lvl 12 cores)/ 6 DH / 2 Barb (+10% run speed, + 3% damage reduction). +22% speed is nice on a melee.

Hopefully a gnome int rogue qstaff quickened spray caster with a wolf sounds weird /interesting /fun enough for you

A melee based arti that uses bubble and electric is actually kind of fun. Most go the repeater x-bow route, which I guess is the norm for this class but you can do rather well as a pure melee.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by bubble and electric?
Bubble is Radiant Forcefield spell/sla/cliscky and/or (Mass) Unbreakable Forcfields.
Electric should be electric sp based Imbue Dice in the Battle Enginier tree and Artificers also have some electric based spells too.
My personal favorite spell is Tactical Detonation but that one is fire + force. But its great fun

Check my melee arti build you may can have some ideas and inspration

@Zvdegor pretty much summed it up.
In fact the last melee arti I played was heavily influenced by the linked build.
I too like Tactical Detonation. The animation and resulting flattening on the monsters if fun to watch.

So, how about a gnome 18 arti / 2 AotS, has chain form eldritch blast from AotS (fire), deals AoE damage with the Quarantine runearm (cold), and casts lightning SLAs from the Arcanotechnician, and stuns enemies with either the racial Color Spray or with the one from Feydark illusionist? :D

Eldritch blast = cha. Arti stuff = int. It's a little MAD.

Bard 18/AotS 2 has better synergy.

It's not that bad, it's a 36 point build, so it can run everything on elite/r1 and earn a 5k tome.
All you need is constitution, intelligence and charisma. That's not MAD at all.
I think it could work :)
